It wouldn't surprise me if IT had a great all around game. Hope IT and his family is doing alright.

No Isaiah Thomas at Suns shootaround because he was at a funeral yesterday, he will play tonight ...
-Jason Jones

I'm actually scared of Sessions on IT... I remember Robinson blowing past Sessions multiple times.

There's been a lot of talk of being scared of Sessions guarding Thomas (and probably rightfully so), but why is nobody talking about Sessions having his breakout game against a weak PG defender in Thomas? Have we forgot so quickly? Perhaps this is the match-up that gets Sessions going offensively.

Our guys have been playing great defense. If I had to pick between IT's ability to get past a defense and a Malone defense stopping IT, it'd be a pretty easy choice. One of IT's biggest flaws is his inability to recognize when to pass the ball. Malone will exploit this all night long and as long as he does, IT will get more and more frustrated - meaning he will pass even less.

everybody buying in

But the second quarter last night offers a cautionary tale here. The Nuggets almost got themselves back into the game by going with 2 tiny PGs and blasting by our perimeter people. In the process BTW threatening Boogie with foul trouble because he was having to catch all those guys flying into the paint. Gotta clean that up this time. This is apples and oranges, our frontline vs. their backcourt. Don't have to win the backcourt matchup, just keep a lid on it. They are no doubt looking at it in exactly opposite fashion.

Not something you see every day in these parts:

Its a #5/#6 playoff positioning matchup! We've already beat #4 and #7. Lost to #3.

IT may very well be the high scorer in this game. What does that prove especially if the Kings win? He doesn't "get it." A lot of people don't "get it." IT's problem is what he does to the rest of the team. Let him have his day as I suspect there is little to do to stop him. Shut everyone else down.
I think there's little doubt he'll come out looking to score, put up big numbers and in that, think he's proving a point. He will be proving a point, just not the one he thinks. That ultra-aggressive mindset is exactly why he didn't fit here and as he's doing it tonight, he'll be proving to us we made the right decision, not that we really need any proof.

Plus, turning Dragic into an off the ball spectator helps us. This would be a tougher game if we knew Goran would be handling the rock the majority of his 35+ mins. This game should actually be the epitome of, let IT get his, stick to and shut down everyone else.

Wouldn't we actually be 4th according to this chart you posted.

Edit: I forgot Houston and Memphis were in the same division.

i'm not sold on Houston. Their schedule has been easy as pie and the Spurs trotted out Baynes at Center last night against Howard

I still like Boogie Man better.

Yes but anyone can be a Boogie man, our Boogie strikes fear into the hearts of child and adult alike! He's like an apparition, now you see him now he's dunking on your head. He's got tentacles a mile long for arms and the sturdy frame of a yheti or sasquatch. Just when you think you've got him contained, he shows you he's only getting warmed up, dragging two three or four mere mortal defenders dangling from the end of his jersey as he slices through the paint. Clearly 'Monster' is a more accurate descriptive of what he's doing to other basketball teams right now.

Biggest matchup of the game for me is Ben Mac vs Bledsoe. Bledsoe might be one of the toughest guards for Ben to defend all year. He is an amazingly athletic and quick point guard playing the 2 guard postition. Ben has to find a way to stay in front of him.

Take care of the ball + contain their guards + feed Cousins = we win

I'm not worried about Bledsoe much, provided we get decent coverage and D from Ben or better. Bledsoe is a fantastic defender, that's negated with the lack of McLemore usage rate.

I'm most worried about some cheap whistles from the officials and the former pizza guy. I'd put Ray on him if I was Malone, Ray should know his game some and do a better job than Sessions.

I will be there tonight! I really want to see the Kings focus on posting the Suns players up, the Suns lack quality big men, matter fact their starting big man Alex Len, will probably pick up two quick fouls in the first quarter and then it will be undersized PF's guarding Cousins from then on. Slow the game down and do not play their pace.

But there are only three divisions.
Portland should be either third (order by playoff seeding) or tied for 5-8, but fourth makes no sense.
It used to be that the division winners were, automatically, the top three seeded teams, but that's not true anymore. They changed the rules a little less than a decade ago, after whatever season that was that the Clippers 'tanked' for the sixth seed, in order to get the division-winning Nuggets in the first round, who'd had a lesser record. Now, winning the division only guarantees you a Top Four seed in the first round; technically, I don't think that it even guarantees you home court, any more. And if there's a team that finished second in their division, but has a better record than a division leader, they will be a higher seed than that division leader... but, only one team gets to benefit from that rule. That's why Memphis is second, and we're fifth.

While HereWeVivek didn't say that exactly right, he's mostly right. We are the fifth seed because the division leaders (Houston, Golden State, Portland) get an automatic Top Four seed, and the Grizzlies have a better record than we do. We only have the second-best record of any team that is not a division leader, which makes us the fifth seed.

EDIT - If the playoffs started tomorrow, in fact, I believe that we'd have home court against Portland, despite being the 'lower' seed.

I won't be able to watch tonight's game, but I hope the team just has a good showing. There's a lot of attention now.

Also, this:

10:12 McGee was asked what was Cousins doing to be so effective tonight
"Getting the ball" was his reply. Not sure what to think of that

is hilarious. I hope that's a real quote from Javale.

Am I the only one who thinks IT will go reverse psychology and try and pass way more than he usually does?

That's true, so they should just go and put Portland in fifth place, since that's where they basically are.

Who's pumped for tonight's game?!

I've been pumped for every game this season, including this one. It's gonna be a fun year. The one that turns it all around, as we head towards the new arena...which is going to be an absolutely unreal atmosphere. Can just imagine the buzz around NorCal as that thing opens

I have to say this before the game starts...I hate the Suns' floor. I would hate to play on it and I would hate to have to watch half of my team's games on it.
