I know you've been a fan of K-Mart...

You know what the most frustrating part of this whole argument is for me? I DON'T LIKE KEVIN MARTIN! I don't want him on the Kings! Anybody who's been on this message board for longer than a minute and a half knows that I don't like Kevin Martin. It makes my head numb that I'm standing up for this guy. The only thing that strikes me as more ridiculous than me standing up for Kevin Martin is Bricklayer standing up for Kevin Martin.

It's like you're not even listening...

i just had a thought. dario saric is the perfect four for us--a high IQ four who's a great playmaker, gets rebounds, can hit a three, and hustles his butt off, a rich man's version of what casspi has been giving us.

I defiantly like the idea of Mayo over Martin a lot. Instead of Middleton id make it Ben/JT for Mayo/Illyasova. We get a 2 very good shooters at PF/SG and Mayo is a capable defender and can creat if we have him in with our 2nd unite. Another benefit of this trade is that if it doesn't work out they both come off the books in 2 years and we would have a lot of cap space even if we still had our core ( DMC, Gay, Collison, Nik)

Heck no. Mayo is overweight with a poor attitude and he's owed $8M/year for the next 2 years. I think Middleton is ok but not worth trading our two best assets for when you add in Mayo's deal.
I remember Gay was pretty heavy when he was in Toronto. Mayo's attitude would be considered ok on our team... I think that would be a much better alternative to K-Marts contract is about 7m/year over the next 3 years. Mayo has always been a good scorer and an unselfish player. The most we give up is B-Mac who I secretly don't think was the best SG in that 2013 draft(I've always liked Kentavious Caldwell Pope) and D-Will.

Mayo would be able to bring what Martin could with better defense. Middleton is probably the deal sealer for me. I'm just personally high on him and believe if he was on some team like the Spurs or Bulls, he'd be the next big thing.

That would be a nice trade. I don't think the Bucks would care too much for JT because they have a pretty good depth at PF/C. I think someone like Williams would be able to get the job done especially if they wanted to get rid of his contract.

Actually your right and they really want to get rid of Mayo and Erasan so maybe we could even get them for Ben/DWill/Ray. Getting rid of Ersan frees room for Sanders, Henson, Zaza.

Since you're a noob I won't pick on you mercilessly, but let's just say you should read Slim's posts more carefully. If you're unwilling/unable to do that, you should definitely refrain from making blanket assumptions without any basis in fact.

I don't know about next big thing but I have been raving about Middleton on here since last year I would love him and Sanders on our squad not so much Mayo

Inconceivable.

OJ Mayo is exactly the LAST thing this team needs at this point. The whole point of adding a Martin is to get a STEADY vet. Something dependable and to the bank. Instead OJ Mayo is exactly the sort of trash that has kept us in the lottery for 8 straight seasons. The last thing we need is more question marks or attitude problems.

ILike Brick's idea on K-mart. It uniquely maes sense. However, to my knowledge this is only a kings.fans discussion. I've seen no mention of PDA interest in any SD even though I think it's a real need for thi King team regardless of whether we "do" a PF or not.

It is only a kf.com discussion, but I think his name pops up because he's the only one who would fit exactly what we're looking for at that position...offensively, anyways, unless Stauskas proves to be ready sooner rather than later.

It used to be that kf.com wanted a defensive stopper at the 2, like Tony Allen or Avery Bradley. Now we're ok with no D at all at the position. Interesting shift.
You can thank Mclemore for that. One full season of him with the starters and now all anyone wants is a player that makes open shots.

If we get a player with no D, we will still have improved at the position.

I get what you're saying, though. I would love a 3 and D player at the SG position, but I don't see it happening.

Looking at past acquisitions defensive players are taking a back seat for PDA. I'm still holding out faith for Hibbert at the deadline that pacer team is bad and will be looking to blow it up.

We won't be a true contender EVER if we don't first take the step of making the playoffs.

Let me lay out for you the consequences of failure this year:

1) Malone is fired
2) Rudy leaves
3) Cuz begins to doubt
4) Cuz's rep further battered because if he's so good why don't they win?
5) possible PDA fired
6) lose millions more at the gate. owner pissed or disillusioned at market?
7) no TV games again, nobody knows us, again.
8) free agents still not tempted to join the chaos.

If the Kings aren't doing well by the midseason trade deadline, Gay could be traded. He probably wouldn't want to re-sign, given the team's poor performance, and I could see him commanding a high trade value because teams would want both his talent for the remainder of the season and his huge expiring contract. This team isn't close to be "stabilized," imo.

Who says no?

Kings out: Rudy & Ben

IN: Tyreke & Ryan Anderson

New Orleans starting 5
  1. Holiday
  2. Gordon or Ben
  3. Gay
  4. Davis
  5. Asik
Kings starting five
  1. Collison / Sessions / Ray
  2. Evans / Nik
  3. either Casspi or *Williams
  4. Anderson / Landry / R. Evans / Moreland
  5. Cuz / JT / Hollings
* I know people Scoff at the mere mention of D-Will but he plays well when gets extended mins.

At the deadline players like Collison, R. Evans, D-Will, Casspi and JT or Landry can be packaged in a trade. Thoughts.

I think Pavlov would be proud. Mention anything not right with the Kings and automatic response is "Mclemore's fault." Makes me chuckle. But that's the curse of the Pizza Guy.

I suspect that the real issue is we lost IT who was such a good scorer that Now we're desperate for his scoring replacement. Thornton and Jimmer were both knock down shooters with no D at the SG spot and it didn't make a lick of difference for us.

We're going to score points as we're currently constructed. How we slow our opponents down in crunch time is more important to me. Other wise we are still going to be saying "If so and so just hit one more shot....."

Living the dream, a bad dream. Mindset: we're winning, if it takes giant efforts from the guys we have or we have to swap for some different ones. Smile and enjoy them out scoring the other team.

That's not the issue at all, in my eyes.

We don't know how Stauskas will turn out, and we don't really have the time to wait on him. We'd like a vet who isn't a net negative at the SG position to not have to depend on Stauskas while he matures.

Reading the tea leaves, PDA talks defense, but his moves say another thing, so if he's going to go with offense, why not at least pick up an efficient off the ball scorer on a nice contract? I'd love a defender, but I don't think the FO values a defensive specialist as much as many of us do.

You're probably right with PDA. I may have to accept this at some point. Follow the GW model and be flashy and score points. Try to add D later. Not my preferred path, but I have no say in the matter.

Outside shooting will be a HUGE problem for this team, Stauskas is our only good shooter, not good to say the best shooter on your team is a 20 year old rookie.

Obviously we don't have all the time in the world but were not up against it either. This is only year one of Cuz's extension and while the 8th seed should be the goal its not playoffs or bust either. Remember we're not trying to be a flash in the pan the goal should be to sustain success and win it all AT LEAST once.

But Nik is a hell of a shooter you have to keep that in context. I get that the league has put a premium on outside shooting and I agree its one of many areas this team needs to improve in.

True. I'm assuming that's another reason behind a push for a motion offense, as we don't have enough deadeyes to keep defenses from collapsing on Cousins.

Hmm. Most of the great shooters have usually been the best shooters on their team when rookies. Plenty of examples.

Stauskas would be the best shooter on many teams in the NBA right now
