[Game] Game 39: Sacramento Kings vs. Miami Heat, 1/16/15. 7PM PST 10PM EST

Agreed. And as video shows even Shaq agrees. David Robinson agrees, Patrick Ewing agrees. Hakeem dominated them all. Truly one of greatest not just big men, but basketball players of all time. Cousins hopefully can get there one day soon - and compile few championship, MVPs, multiple all-star appearances, like 'The Dream.'
Hakeem was the guy who got me to start watching basketball.
Was flipping through channels, there was a game on, and decided to sit and watch for a couple of minutes...and Hakeem was out there just doing extraordinary things and I just couldn't take my eyes off of him.
Suffice it to say, the Rockets were my first 'favorite' team even though I was living in Southern California at the time.

I know that everyone wanted to be like Mike...but the Dream is the player who got me hooked on this game.

For the first time in almost 30 years, I'm losing interest in watching Kings basketball. And it's right when our best player in the Sac era is entering his prime.

It's astounding how fast and sharply we turned from such a promising start with a great coach... to this...

I feel like our only hope now is that Vivek gets a huge dose of humble pie with the season ticket renewals dropping off big time... and makes a huge course correction, fires PDA, re-hires Malone with a huge apology and promise to back him, and finds a GM who is on the same page as Malone.

Why would Malone want to come back and work for a foolish owner who thinks he knows it all after coaching his daugter's basketball team.

I have been a fan since the team moved here and I watch every game on TV and go to a half dozen games in person a year. I have sat through a lot of crap over the years but tonight was the first time I didn't even feel like watching the game. I shut it off after the first quarter. I am sad but I have lost that loving feeling towards the Kings.

If he does that, I renew immediately - no questions asked.

I cannot stand teams that don't give effort. I pay STH price for this? Ugh.
"Effort" is not that simple. It's not black and white. You have to have a co-ordinated team effort. You have to have leadership, and a coherent system, and guys buying in, otherwise there is no payoff to effort... it's all just hodge podge running around, and that's just not what leads to wins anyway, and guys know it, so they see no point in killing themselves for a leaderless mess.

What this team looks like now is what a total ****ing nerd thinks he sees when he sees a team winning. There is no appreciation for the subtleties, the feel, the human element, the brotherhood, the camaraderie... you cannot dehumanize your players into data points, I'm sorry. This smacks of someone who has never actually played team sports at a competitive level.

The team looks as dry and static as a ****ing computer motherboard about on the fritz. There is no heart... because the heart has been gutted by the firing of Malone. I hope this comes back to haunt vivek big time.

Winning, with this approach, doesn't even feel right now. Vivek has massively pissed off the basketball gods. Did you hear how the Heat announcers were talking about the Malone thing? EVERYBODY sees what a hatchet job this has been. An absolute farce. I can't even root for the Kings anymore because I can't root for Vivek/PDA/whatever quad headed monster is trying to run this thing. I've never had the feeling of wanting my Kings to lose... but I'm having a hard time wishing for success for Vivek and this little project he's running. It's a very strange feeling.

I love how the 'Lights Out' Play of the Game was Whiteside's dunk.
When you have to pick a play from the other team, and one, which is just a simple slip-screen for an easy dunk...well that tells you all you need to know about that game from a Sacramento King's perspective.

Go us....

Malone won't be back. I'm more worried that if this continues too much longer no decent head coach will want to come within three states of the Sacramento Kings.

I wonder if that was one of the DATA POINTS that was plugged into the algorithm by which Vivek determined to fire Malone. I wonder what the co-efficient was on that data point. At least with the Maloofs, we knew they'd eventually implode. I was never actually worried the team would leave. With Vivek, he's got so much hubris and money... he could do a lot more damage.

Vivek wants to be Warriors 3.0 I think Brick was warning of this a long time back, and I just didn't want to believe it. But now I'm afraid, I'm very afraid of this. I think Vivek looks at the Warriors success and just quivers with jealousy and spazzes off with goofy decisions in the pursuit of Warriors 3.0

It is a freaking tragedy - he flushed Plan A way too prematurely and has been paralyzed since. He and his partners are going to have to swallow some grim season ticket renewal facts I'm afraid. As compelling a couple salesmen as Chris and Phil are - the team is a pig in a poke.

Today in making the term "pace" more ridiculous than it was the day before:
I thought we couldn't create pace all night," said Kings coach Tyrone Corbin. Miami wanted to play at a slow tempo, so we talked about creating pace and pushing the ball down the floor. We ended up falling into a trap and playing at a pace that was favorable to the other team."
I am almost speechless with disgust, and for those who have been here a long tine, you know that's almost impossible.

Actually it's not even a real pig. It's a 3D hologram of a pig.

So he's mad that the heat were playing at the pace we should be. Just unreal.

Disgust I believe. Speechless I don't. ;) Back many years, I quit watching the Kings. When people talk about Kenny Natt, I don't know who he is. I may not quit watching because you never know what Cuz will do. On the other hand, I don't like to see him suffer. He has come further than I thought was possible only to get repaid by this.

Kenny Natt was a lame-duck head-coach who everyone knew was going to be fired at the end of the year after he took over for Theus in the middle of the season.
Want to hear something funny?

As bad as the Maloofs were, they never, ever tried to convince us that somehow Natt was going to be the savior of the franchise and that he could possibly be coaching the team the following year. Everyone, including Natt, would have laughed if they would have tried to sell us that sort of garbage.

So....does that mean that the Maloofs are smarter than Vivek and Co. (Because if we believe PDA, he says he thinks Corbin could have a chance) or does it mean that the Maloofs might have actually respected the fan bases' intelligence more than the current FO?

It's got to be one or the other...right?

Right?

Nope. The Maloofs weren't that bad at the beginning. It was only when their finances started to suffer after Webber crumpled to the floor in Dallas that things started to turn. They thought the only way to save their team was to move it to a more lucrative market - and they lied to us repeatedly about it and tried to drive us away so they'd be able to move.

It's beginning to look as though Vivek and Co. just didn't make a wise pick for GM. They opted for a snake oil salesman (lawyer/agent/politician) whose hubris is going to undo ALL the good will they earned over buying the team and keeping them here in Sacramento.

If they're going to set things back on the right course, PDA has to go...and sooner rather than later. They need to bring in a competent experienced person for the GM role and then have him hire a competent experienced head coach. And they need to do very quickly.

Pete deserves criticism but how much is on him. How much belongs to Coach Mullin.
