Galil Elyon may play against Sacramento at October 2010

http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3828075,00.html

Casspi played at Galil Elyon his first pro year and he'll play one half at each of the team.

The current coatch of Galil Elyon, Oded Katash, was a coach of Casspi both in his year at Galil Elyon and at the first mounts of Casspi at Maccabi, until he was fired and became Galil's coach again. Casspi's father had complains about Casspi not getting enough minutes at Maccabi. Beside Katash was supposed to be the first Israeli at the NBA.
He was singed at the Knicks but because of the strike that was at 1998 at the NBA he decided not to wait and came back to Maccabi.

Edit: it's not final. I usually more careful with our stupid press, but this time they got me with false headline and I didn't see right away the remark in the end that it's still not final.

EDIT: I altered your title just a little, changing "will play" to "may play." -- VF21

they are talking about Casspi alternating halves between the two teams.

He should not alternate halves for the teams. He is a King now, period. If he were to hurt himself while playing technically for another team, there has to be some legal issues with that.

I'm sure the NBA would confirm the legal issues, before allowing it. As stated, nothing is final, yet. I think it would be fun to see the two teams play, though. NBA rules? ;)

its not right, Casspi played his first pro year at Maccabi while 2006, then he was laoned to Galil for one year at 2007

kinda funny game cause Galil are such a weak team...
but some news overhere are saying Kings gonna play Maccabi too, and this is going to be intresting for sure

I don't know much about Euro ball but I'd rather them play this team then split fans between Sacramento and Maccabi..

Since this game is just for fun, i don't see the problem with it, i think it's better to see a game against Maccabi who can actually somehow compete with NBA teams then Galil who is going to get crushed, 48 minutes of garbage time isn't fun for either side, also Casspi played more seasons with Maccabi.

By the way, not very surprising, it's written that it was Casspi's idea.

It might be just for fun and all, but I can't really get down with the idea of Omri playing for the other side, not for a half, or for a minute. Just... not... right.

It's kind of a tradition in Europe when they have exhibition games in honor of one of the team's former players, that player often plays one half for his current team and one half for his former team.

the real problom of Euro teams against the N.B.A are the rules... its kinda hrd playin 48 mins instead of 40, the 3pshots and all these...

anywayz, Maccabi - Sacramento whould be a GREAT match ... wish it will become true :)

I wouldn't say the rules are the ONLY problem...

Their the BIG problom, as you know, all the teams, can beat any other team, in anytime, as Maccabi won some NBA teams already, Cska, Pao And Real.
and in the NBA rules, if you get the top euro teams in the euro rules against NBA teams, they might win.

Since it appears this is more than likely headed in the same direction as the "Ricky Rubio" thread, I'm going to move it to the General forum. The Kings Rap section is primarily used to discuss current Kings stuff.

:D

Galil is not Maccabi, Cska, or any of these teams.

Top European teams, when they are in their top form, can beat NBA teams, especially when playing FIBA rules. But there is still a huge gap in the level of playing between NBA teams and Euroleague teams, mostly due to the fact that any European player that's worth anything leaves Europe for the NBA. If players like Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, Nowitzki, and other European NBA stars played in the Euroleague, the gap would be much smaller.

It would actually be interesting to see the matchups in this theoretical case. A purely American NBA with superstar-individual-ability-type players vs. a purely European Euroleague with not as many superstars but with a much different and more complex team style. Personally, I'm not sure I would put my money on the NBA teams to win these matchups.

And Malaga and Barcelona, but who's counting? :D

I don't remember PAO won against anyone, who did they beat?
