Fungus among us...

I live in the forest. This year, for some reason I haven't quite figured out, there seems to be a plethora of things popping up out of the ground. Here are a couple of pictures:

This one is about the size of a deflated basketball and is next to some oak tree roots.

This one is the size of a salad plate and is in rich, loamy soil.

There are more, including some very slimey looking ones and some that look exactly like button mushrooms you'd get in the store.

And no, before anyone asks, I'm not going to sample any of them...

I've had lots of wild mushrooms in my front lawn this year, and two even grew inside one of my potted plants in the living room.
