imo, I do not think we need a trade at this moment, we just need to practice at getting better with the rebounding. We'll see later in the season if the rebounding improves at all, that'll determine what we need to do.

I generally trust Petrie's judgement (a lot more than my own), so I wouldn't be upset if a trade did happen. That said, I would be afraid that changing a major piece of the puzzle (one of the top 6 guys) would throw off the Kings groove more than it would help. It depends on the trade of course, but it is unlikely that the Kings could come up with something that is more beneficial than detrimental.

Also, purely from a fan standpoint, I like the current players, I think they have a legitimate chance at winning a championship, and would like to see them try to do it.

So my answer is pretty much no.

Better? How far down the road? Honestly, i think it very well may break the sell-out streak, but I'm not convinced it would help the kings this season. But that's just my opinion.

We have a great squad, and I look forward to seeing them evolve together.

Swift looked so good recently I forgot about Posey. But either one seems to go to the hole without the risk of being stuffed everytime. That's the one thing the Kings lack. No?

In truth the Kings are very very ineffective at that very thing. Finishing at the hoop. With Christie losing a little in his legs, Evans is the only dunker and he's not going to play at all.

The kings have some issues to deal with, but in spite of how they score... I'm not seeing offence as one of those issues. I'd like to see more focus on other areas, but I really don't see trades as an ideal solution at this point and time. I love this team, and given the right blend of time, focus, and a little touch of attitude... I really think we have the ingredients to make things happen.

The Kings do not need to make a trade to win the title. The current roster is more then capable of improving upon itself in the areas we need. Matt Barnes is blossoming into one heck of a reserve. Ostertag is slowly finding his groove in our system. Doug is healthy now. Songaila is improving. Bobby Jackson is almost back to 100% since the stomach injury.

I like this team and the players we have. I'd take our 1-9 guys against anyone this season and postseason. I am confident.

When watching the Kings against teams like the Hornets no, but if we get slaughtered by the top teams in the West it may be a different story. Too many valuable players on the Kings to risk trading though. Truth is the most tradable player is Peja. I can see him out of the lineup and the Kings still succeeding with an athletic, rebounding power/small forward in his place. Peja knows that too, thats one of the reasons I think he suggested himself. I would hate to see him go b/c no matter who you trade him for you're not going to get equal value (simple fact he is a 15 mil a year player in a 6 mil a year deal). That and another player may have to go, i.e., Bobby, Doug. Getting rid of Doug could be tragic to our already thin defense and the flow of the offense. Just look at him play and you realize how important he is to this team, as well as Bobby for that matter. Think about it, on any other team Peja could possibly get 20-25 looks a night and could easily be the leagues leading scorer. It doesn't look like anybody's in danger of going but there's a lot of ball yet to be played, so we will see.

I personally don't want to see any trades but this is a business. I didn't want to see Pollard go but that led to getting Miller.

Yes, the NBA is a business and that's exactly why the Kings aren't going to panic right now and do anything before they know exactly how much the team they have is capable of producing. Getting rid of Pollard and Hedo to get Miller was pretty much a no-brainer. Those kinds of deals don't come around very often. AND, considering Petrie's track record, I'm quite sure he's gonna have to work REALLY hard to pull the wool over anyone else's eyes in the forseeable future.

Do I want to see a trade? No. I think the team is just now starting to show cohesiveness and finding a groove on a consistent basis. Why would you want to disrupt that? Off season is the time to talk trades, IMO

Actually, the Hedo of this season is someone the Kings desperately need. Walton and gang and others (myself included) thought he'd be better than Peja after the way he sucked up his guts in the playoffs against the Lakers (was it the year before Horry - or the Horry year I forget but he was tough). Well, Peja improved and Hedo struggled and he is gone. He makes too much $$ but he should would be a perfect fit and maybe exactly what the Kings will lack down the road, a more aggressive finisher.

I recall for years the Kings have been handled on the boards rather often. The numbers don't lie we are the worst rebounding team in the league. I hope they come around and we have seen the potential, but they seem to forget how to block out sometimes.

If anyone ever tells you there is no such thing as a stupid question, you can proudly answer yes there is! I don't even know where to start with this one.
(1) What tarde are we talking about? Chris Webber for Jake Tskalidies? Evans and picks for Garnet? Give me a break here!
(2) No other team has a tighter starting 5 with this kind of experience, so if your going to mess with it you at least better have some idea why, who and have a potential up side worth one hell of a risk.
(3) Most of our team is for all intents and purposes "untradeable" either due to salery, performance concerns or both.
(4) You have to tarde value to get value Noone is going to take scrubs for starters!
(5) Oh why bohter going any farther with this lame idea...

Yep. The Kings have always had some problems on the boards. And yet, despite those problems, they have managed - primarily because of the excellent team game they play - to be right in the hunt at the end.

I'll repeat - it's ONLY the beginning of the season. If you're expecting the team to be in tune and ready for the playoffs, you're about 5 months early. Sure, there are things they need to work on. I think they will work on them and I think things will improve. I'd much rather see a team working and continuing to get better than one that peaks too early and has nowhere to go but down...

You may want to recall that everyone is entitled to opinions here. You even asked at the beginning of the thread if we thought this team could win without trading someone. Many have responded that it is their opinion that the Kings can win with this cast.

Now, you have made it perfectly clear that you do not. Again, fine. But, insinuating in 2 different threads now that anyone who disagrees with you is "obviously" not as versed in the game played in the NBA is pure bull hockey.

Funny thing is I don't remember Webber EVER being that athletic. Everyone talks about how he is so different after the knee. Sure it had its effect but he has always been kind of on the slow side. He is a fairly good athlete but I would call him more of a thinking player. Which I think is way better than athleticism in the long run. Thats why guys like Vlade have done so well.

For instance that around the back dunk in the Twolves game wasn't as much athleticism as it was hand eye quardination.

I was going to go into a long explanation as to why but decided it wasn't worth it. I agree with VF21 that it is too early in the season to begin talking about how the Kings or any other team will be in the playoffs.

Point is, I don't know. I stopped maked predictions or definitive assumptions a couple of years ago. You can say the Kings can't win and I can say they can and both assertions would have the same validity. This is sports, stranger things have happened.

I still contend that the Kings are a good team. Good teams contend for championships. There is that gap between a good team and a championship team that the Kings for whatever reason have not yet closed. Could this be the year? Again I don't know that it isn't anymore than I know that it is. As they say " time will tell" and thats why they play the games.
