Welp, watching the warriors/spurs and it looks like the old Fox is back. Man the spurs are good. They look REALLY good.
He didn’t look good too me well atleast not a star we talked ourselves into thinking he was

I'm still kinda scrolling the post game on Spurs reddit and I just feel sad. He's a flawed player in many ways but he was a hero here. They'll never appreciate him.
This is some pretty awful shot selection wtf
If you’re going to be a bad shooting 1, you better make your teammates better like Josh Giddey does. Well I say that and Giddey has improved his shot a ton since being with the Bulls, something Fox never did with usWe can be salty about the way he chose to exit but maybe the truth is nobody else wanted to make an offer.
Dame didn't wind up in Miami after all.
the one year he shot well from the perimeter on volume was the Beam Team year and he was rightfully an all-star and CPoY thanks to it opening up the rest of his game. The next couple of years, we sorta kept blaming his injuries for his slumping shooting numbers but maybe he just sucks at shooting. If you’re going to be a bad shooting 1, you better make your teammates better like Josh Giddey does. Forgot about that, his shooting that year was by far his best 3pt shooting year since his 2nd season. He was a bad shooter in college too so safe to say it’s just not a skill he has and likely never will. In fairness, most of the Fox discourse migrated to the [Game] thread for the evening but, yeah... hot takes were flying on Friday, not so much last night.I see this thread went awfully quiet after yesterday lol
I would expect that just like his tenure here he is going to have "wow how is he not first team All-NBA?" nights followed by "wow, he makes what? when does that contract come up?" nights.
This is his 9th year in the league, pretty sure he's a finished product and will always be that guy.
I am a hundred percent good with him being the former, but there remains some speculation as to whether or not he is.De'Aaron Fox is who he is. Nobody should be particularly surprised when he goes off for 30. Or 50. The guy has that in him. What he doesn't have is the superstar's mentality that allows him to compete at the fullness of his powers game in and game out. The Spurs are absolutely going to benefit from Fox's thermonuclear performances. And when Fox is in one of his patented mid-season slumps? Well... they've got Wemby. That's the difference between Fox in a Kings jersey and Fox in a Spurs jersey. He's a #2 that we all wished had been a #1. In San Antonio, he doesn't have to be the latter. He can just be the former.

What Fox is going to have to realize, to steal from a podcast I listened to last week, is that he transferred from Malibu Prep to Bel Air Academy. And they only run one offense at Bel Air Academy...I'll allow for that possibility, but if that's the case, then it was a stunning miscalculation on Fox's part to demand a trade to the San Antonio Spurs, specifically. It's Wemby's World, and every other Spur is just living in it.
Fox is smart. He got the sweet "Jamal Murray" gig -- doesn't have the #1 option pressure, get paid the max, potter around till the fourth quarter in regular season, turn it up for the playoffs.I'll allow for that possibility, but if that's the case, then it was a stunning miscalculation on Fox's part to demand a trade to the San Antonio Spurs, specifically. A good deal, if you can get it!Fox is smart. He got the sweet "Jamal Murray" gig -- doesn't have the #1 option pressure, get paid the max, potter around till the fourth quarter in regular season, turn it up for the playoffs.
This is the energy we had 3 years ago….it was fun while it lasted.Fox looked brutal in the first half, but took over in the third, let Barnes take over down the stretch before getting the exclamation point dunk.
Spurs got straight murdered on the boards without Wembanyama, though. They might need Fox to go into God mode for them to win games until Wemby comes back.
