flip murray trade we declined

did anybody else hear grant say the pistons called about trading flip for hart and the kings said no. wow. all because he has 1 more yr on his contract. it would have been nice to have salmons, garcia and murray off the bench.

i mean flip isnt having a great year but still, we could have rented him for this year and traded him this off season in package.

Yes, it is true that the Pistons asked the Kings about a trade of Murray for Hart.

I am with the Kings on saying no. Murray won't be a difference maker for this season in helping the Kings. The Kings have much bigger problems that Murray could never remedy.

Besides, who's to say Murray could be traded this offseason in a trade?

I'm glad, he wouldn't make our 7 game lose streak any better anyway nor would I want him to.

We need to rebuild end of story.

I would have done it if they make the same salary. Hart and Price have very little play making skills.

Why? Flip wouldn't have seen any more playing time than Hart is seeing. At least Jason is an expiring contract...

Considering I want to tank the season for a high pick, I would HATE this move. But I had to step in here to say that Flip Murray would definitely get more mintues than Hart. He would probably get Francisco's minutes, and a good portion of Salmons' minutes.

Don't think he would have played all that much, or made much of a difference. But anytime you can make a trade that uprades talent--that you can then turn around and use in another trade--I think you pull the trigger. Especially with 9th-12th men. Might as well get more trade value if you can.

i agree with lpkingsfan we can market him better and get a better trade deal if a deal is made, jermaine o'neal please come 2 sac-town!!!

Better to let Jason Hart's contract expire at the end of this year. The season is over already. Enough with the band-aid approaches. It's time to rebuild.

Gameball stated my response perfectly. While I would do an upgrade if it was for a much bigger talent, the difference between Flip and Hart is negligible enough that having one less year with a contract is better for our rebuilding team. While we will not be under the salary cap enough to sign an impact player (unless Bibby opts out) we will be far enough below the luxary tax threshold that Petrie can use the full MLE without worry about putting us over the tax, which the Maloofs won't allow. This will also be helpful in potential trades. I see no reason to add more salary unless it will be a major boon to our team.

Also, right now going by record we would have the 7th pick and we have more games on the road coming, I say we go for the best draft pick possible, we could be top four. There's not reason to act desperately and add a middling talent who might add another 2-3 wins at best and cost us ping pong balls.

I agree with all that. I'm just sad that it's come to routing against the Kings (except when we play the Lakers, of course) so we can get better long term. I found myself actually routing for the Raptors yesterday. Sad, sad, sad. :(

I think you can still root for the Kings without affecting the outcome of the games. I know I did it for years back in the Days of the Eternal Sucking.

We'll lose more games. There's no way around it. If you think this Eastern road trip is tough, wait until they come back and face teams like Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, etc.

expiring sometimes > more than talent. why are they giving us "more" talent for a expiring? have you considered looking at it from that perspective? all we are doing in that trade is upgrading from 13th man to maybe 11th/10th man. woo hoo! :D
