Fan thought about trading Tyreke to get Knight? Trade between Kings & Jazz

how about reke and the #7 for fesenko, hayward, okur, harris and a sign and traded kirilenko.

with this trade proposal, we don't need to resign daly because we have fesenko and okur. we've addressed the small forward & PG position with kirlenko, hayward and harris. To top it all, we've poached all utah's light skinned players.

Why would we trade for the 3rd pick to draft Kanter just to sit him behind last year's 3rd and 5th picks?

First off, I'm not advocating the trade. But to answer your question. Kanter would be insurance in the event we wouldn't be able to resign Dalembert. If we were to draft Kanter, and then resign Dalembert, then Kanter would have to battle for minutes with J.T. If he proves to be a better option off the bench than J.T., then you have another tradable asset in Thompson. or you have very good depth. You also have foul trouble insurance. Having too much talent, particulary from a depth point of view is never a bad thing.

This would be good for a laugh, but its distressing sometimes that fools like this even get a forum. Inveitably there is some other fool wandering around who also doesn't have a clue, takes this "article" and uses it as a foundation for his own little island of basketball ignorance.

And people, even those of you trying to twist this into something "realistic", there is NOTHING realistic about any of it. That is not done. Young star level players are not traded for unproven draft picks. Nor packages of unproven draft picks. I've mentioned beofre maybe the last example I can think of of that happening in the NBA was when Golden State traded us Richmond for the #2 pick to take Billy Owens. There was also Elton Brand traded for the #2 pcik to take either Eddy Curry or Tyson Chandler, forgot which. You see how those worked out. Set those teams back years. There is a REASON its not done, no matter how much you like a kid in the draft. Everybody remember the Evan Turner chatter last year? How we were supposed to be high on Johnny Flynn the year before? Nobody but a very dim fan would consider even the risk of getting burned like that while giving away a top young talent acceptable.

What exactly is the criteria to get a story on Bleacher Report? I rarely see anything of value there, even the stuff that starts off promising like "Ten worst trades ever" shows little understanding of sports prior to say the year 2000.

Who's Babe Ruth?

Chris Webber traded after rookie year, Billups traded during rookie year, Deron Williams for Favors last year.

There is a rumor going around that the Kings are interested in trading Evans, and Thorton for Yao Ming, and Shaq. Even though Shaq retired, and Yao probably won't play again my source advised me that the rumor I just made up holds merit because Geoff Petrie had shown interest in these two players within the past 10 or so years.

Stay tuned.

Those are not good examples:
Chris Webber = forced his way out of town, and was traded for Gugliotta not a pick (may have been picks too, but they weren't the centerpiece). Not willingly done. And even if it were would only increase the force of the "you don't do that" argument as trading Richmond for Owens and Webber for Gugliotta in a 2 yr span helped sink that francise for 15 years.

Chauncey Billups = a nobody at the time he was traded. Widely considered a flop and bad pick. Don't even recall what he was traded for.

Deron Williams = also more or less forced his way out, or was forced out after the ugly Sloan thing. He was also 26 years old, an established star more than young guy.

Nitpicking here, but I'm guessing section was talking about Favors being traded. At least that seems to be who he's talking about given his argument. Even so, Favors wasn't traded for draft picks, and he was/is nowhere near being a star (yet, at least). So again, it doesn't make sense.

All of this is nonsense. Anyone who wants to trade Evans for picks/role players is out of their mind. The original article is farsical and looks like it was thought up by an eight year old. And that's probably an insult to most eight year olds.

Brick, you beat me to it. Glad someone said something. Those trade are nothing like trading Reke would be. The Webber situation with Nelson is nothing like Reke and Westy. Can't even draw parallels.

What horrible examples to try to prove a point. Billups did't become a full time starter until his 6th year, and in his 5th year was only putting up 12.5/5.5.

DWill forced Sloan out, and is a FA next summer. There probably wasn't good chemistry between Deron and the FO, and they risk losing him for nothing in a year, or go through the whole Melo/Lebron situation with him next year. Already see it happening with Dwight. I assume Sec101 was comparing Reke and Dwill, because comparing Reke to Favors wouldn't make sense.

Another problem here is all the people who bash Reke for his faults, and don't accept his age/experience as an excuse, constantly throw out names of other stars who sucked there first few years, developed, matured, and became stars. It's like some people here think stars never developed, and came into the league as HOF's. They throw out names not realizing the history of those guys, and their developmental history. They all learned the ropes! Yet, they sit here and bash Reke, and say being a 1st or 2nd year player isn't an excuse, all the while the same players they say Reke can't become as successful as, weren't in the league at Reke's age, or regular starters for their teams.

Just a wee bit hypocritical, or plain stupid when it comes to the history of player development throughout the league?

The only way you do this deal is if Utah throws in somebody else of substance, like Favors. Then use some fillers to make it work.

And the only way this deal would be remotely considered is if the Kings knew something damaging about Tyreke (that we don't) and didn't see him in their long-term plans.

Oscar Robinson didn't need to develop coming intot he league! Reke is a b-u-s-t!!!

The NBA Draft couldn't come soon enough so people can stop putting out non sense like this. Are people really that bored?

Well, considering I was invited to be a writer for "The Bleacher Report", it doesn't take much. Once you're in, you can spout whatever nonsense you want. Some kids do write some good stuff. Good, fact-based articles about teams. But, there's so much crap to wade through that you never reach it.

As the good ol' Mr. Marx (Groucho, not Karl) once said, "I refuse to be part of a club that would have me as a member."

He was traded for Kenny Anderson and I think a backup big man. He really was in an impossible position, he was supposed to be Tim Duncan and along with Rick Pitino the Celts were going back to glory.

In any event I agree that 2 of the 3 scenarios Section 101 posted involved malcontents and 2 of 3 completely backfired on the team that made the move with the 3rd too soon to tell. Tyreke actually seems to like Sacramento, is working hard and if not for a nagging injury likely would have improved in year 2 rather than disappointed. Considering how goal focused he appears to be this setback could actually be a boon for his development.
