What's the rush?
To expand - I want Geoff Petrie to explore all the options and, if he pulls the trigger on any trades, do it because it's best for the Kings for more than just the rest of the season. I, for one, am tired of the quick fix stuff.
I'm willing to wait and see what happens...
AND to expand just a little further - If a trade does come down, you're not going to read about in the paper first. You'll see it all over the Internet before the newspapers can even begin to get the copy typeset.

Kinda what I was thinking...that is SOON in Petrie standards...he never pulls the trigger when everyone else does or is jumping. Artest may go elsewhere, but that doesnt mean nothing is going to happen, I expect something to happen...probably not until the beginning of next year.kingsfan916 said:

If I made a graph of Peja's trade value over the last two years it would be a 45 degree line heading down. Geoff has already ****ed up and hurt this franchise hesitating as long as he has. Peja will have a virtual veto.
Geoff's getting exposed a bit now anyway, but if he screws up this Peja thing the way he did the Webber thing it could turn out to be his ultimate undoing in Sacto. And disastrously, maybe even the Kings' undoing in Sacto.

Guys I would be interested in that could be available, in terms of bench help:
Earl Watson - good defender for a PG, could fit better than Hart
Antonio Daniels - combo guard, another good defender that could assume the Bobby Jackson role
Stromile Swift- having another shotblocker off the bench would be nice if we could get him for KT or Corliss.
Eddie Griffin - cbs.sportsline.com claims he's available. He's cheap and would be a nice bench presence with a rare combination of shotblocking and outside shooting. Wouldn't dramatically change the makeup of our team, but would be playable on offense in Adelman's system and could make a difference on D.

There won't be a trade so soon. Petrie likes to wait and see whats out there rather than jump in head first.

A trade would be known about long before the Bee breaks it in the morning paper- it would have to be public for at least 12 hours before you pick it up.

Peja means so much to this team, i mean we run our entire offense for the guy, but when you do that (run whole offense for one guy) they should come up big for you. And we all know Peja hasn't been coming up at all. It's simple he's not happy. And like we all know he'll just demand too much money.
So it's this simple, Bird (the guy calling the shots for the pacers) has wanted peja for quite a while now. Twice last year! This means the pacers want peja the most.
I say we trade peja for artest because 20 teams have already expressed intrest in artest. This means we could have any one of 20 small forwards. I also agree with the concensus that a Luol Deng is in order. A solid rebounder with athletic ability.

If the big concern is that Peja will demand the Max or walk at the end of the season, Is it possible to sign him now to some sort of extension? That way if it is clear that he will not take a reasonable amount to stay we could then actively pursue a trade for Artest or with Chicago.
I would like to see Peja stay but not at some ridiculous maxed contract
If we wait to last min in Feb, if all the teams go ahead with their mid-season trades, we may miss the best window to either make a deal with Peja or get the best player in return.
Is Peja still saying he is happy here only because Maloofs opened their mouth saying he is worth maxing out?
If only we had a telepath that could get into GP's head and find out what he is really thinking.

1. They did elude to some of what your asking before the season. First they say they (owners) can't pay him so much until he becomes a free agent. So it was peja's choice to wait to become a free agent so he could in return get more money.

I'm on the brink of cancelling my Bee subscription - they are in disarray. First the false Barkley story, now the ridiculous Bonzi to Pacers story which is a two-day old internet story.
That loser Amick is actually TRYING TO MAKE A CUT-PASTE FROM THE INTERNET LOOK LIKE HIS STORY.
The sports editor and Amick should both be fired... pretty soon. The Bee has no credibility - none at all.

KG said he's the best shot-blocker in the league (or something like that). Watson, aside from his other abilities, has indeed worked on his shot, showing it when he's played. Especially last night, making 4-4threes in the third. Watson's line: 14 pts (5-10 FG, 4-7 3P), 4 rebs, 3 ast, 2 stls, 21 min.

Peja needs more structure than the Kings can offer to be in his game. He'd make a good addition to a contending team with a system that can integrate him.
I'd be willing to take a chance on Artest for him. Remember how concerned people here were about Bonzi? I'm sure Artest has learned at least something from his antics and would not throw away the opportunity for a fresh start.
