Do you ever wish you could mute just the announcers, such as jerry Reynolds, or grant. I swear sometimes I am listening to dodge ball anoucers from espn the ocho.;)

Maybe they could change sap from talking in spanish to muting both jerry and grant. Good idea? maybe we could email this to the kings.:)

There are a lot of announcers out there who are much worse than Grant and Jerry. At least they're enthusiastic about our Kings.

I like things like "Lord, don't take me now. I'm having too much fun. The Kings are playing good."

Corny? Oh yeah. But it's the way a lot of Kings fans feel.

I love Jerry Reynolds - I can't help it. He's like the grandpa I don't have.

Hate Grant and I wish we could not only mute him - but send him on a permanent vacation to New York.

I already mute them whenever I can. They've gotten embarrassing in recent years. Did not used to be so bad. Now they have become such corporate pitch men/comapny schills that its just painful to listen to them for long stretches. Here comes the party line, and you;re an idiot if you don't buy it hook line and sinker. Yeah, riiight.

I don't mind them TOO much, but if you can't take a huge dose of homerism, you probably wouldn't feel the same way.

Jerry's comments are silly mostly, and I often feel like Grant is probably suppressing an urge to strangle the guy half of the time. :D

^^^^I can't stand Grant as well. Jerry Reynolds is somewhat more bearable, just sounds like a sweet man. But with a the lack of Kings game available here, I really can't complain.

I wasn't all that impressed with Jerry and Grant (especially). That is, I wasn't until I had League Pass the season the Kings didn't have a TV contract. There are many, MUCH worse announcers out there. I was stunned at how bad some of them were. (By the way, I kinda like JR, corniness and all.:p)

Who is worse? I'm sure there are some but not a lot.

Anyone catch Grant bagging on AI for scoring 45 points in 30 shots? Jerry had to correct him and tell him that wasn't bad.

if you think thats bad....I live in L.A

Kings fan living in L.A and when I watch the Lakres @ Kings...omg

they are freckin horrible

they would be down by 35 and they would go, dont worry fans this is Kobe at his best and he will pull this team out (kobe = 14 pts aft 3 quarters)

your right Stu, the Lakers tend to give away leads, but like you know they have won 3 championships from 2001-2003 and they will make a big comeback

I don't remember the names, but the Boston Celtics announcer was just plain awful. Spent almost the entire game saying EVERY foul call was going the Kings way and wondered how much the Maloofs paid for it. If you couldn't see the game, you wouldn't have known much about what was happening out there. He really stands out in my memory. There were some others, too, believe me.

Classic quote from tonight:

Grant mentions that a player (can't remember which one) was born in 1983.

Jerry: Geez...I have underwear older than that.

Thank you, Jerry Reynolds.

this would be the ultimate way to watch sports. no announcers, just the sounds of the game. i've thought about this for years and fiddled with my surround sound and i've kind of found a way to muffle them. if this was offered, say on hbo, i would be the first in line.

I like Reynolds hate Grant Napear. When KMart accidentally kneed krstic in the solar plexus Grant was like HAPPY THANKSGIVING KRSTIC.

I have always said Grant is a good game caller but a horrible talk show host. I think Jerry on the other hand is opposite. His color commentary is horrible but he does know the game and when I have heard him fill in for Grant a few times he is great. JUST IMO of course this topic is so subjective and on everyones own personal taste.

That would have been Tommy Heinsohn, he is bad. He openly roots for the Celtics as he is announcing. Heinsohn is such a homer that he has some good comic value, Grant and Jerry have very little comic value. Heinsohn is not intentionally funny, but unintentional comedy can be funnier than intentional. If it is lacking the comic value, a homer announcer is as bad as it gets, even if it is a Kings homer.

I was lucky enough to go to Vlade's fantasy camp a couple of years ago and Jerry Reynolds was there and took part in a question and answer session that included Vlade, Elston Turner, and some other guys. Jerry was AWESOME! especially when talking about the Lakers. But what was really funny was that almost everyother word out of his mouth was a swear word! He was everyone's favorite speaker and seemed to really be a genuine Kings fan but we all kept wondering how he was able to just turn off the profanity when he was on TV or radio.

Grant needs to be fired.

"OHH!! If you don't like that, you don't like NBA Basketball!"

"Oh! Put in the book, and Send Him To The Line!"

"We have a dandy here in (insert city)"

He says the same thing every game.

Atleast Jerry says stupid things that are inconsistent.

I don't understand why everybody has a problem with Jerry and Grant. Take a look at a Celtics game, and listen to Heinsohn for 48 minutes. You will never regret having Jerry and Grant announcing another Kings game.

Annoying? I actually think it's one of the few things that Grant says that doesn't annoy me.

Why? Because he usually says it when the team is really starting to put it together and I'm screaming my head off in my living room anyway...

;)

I'd have to agree on both fronts here. Jerry and Grant are damn annoying, but Grant only sparingly uses the "if you don't like that" catch phrase, and at only the appropriate times. Really, when he's saying it, not only is it usually the highlight of the game as far as basketball goes, but as far as his announcing goes. Because usually the rest of it is crap. Reynolds is okay though...better than most.

Anyway, the solution to this: watch the Kings games on News10 or CSN-Sacramento while listening to the radio on sports 1140 KHTK (preferably through headphones). That way, you get the absolutely awesome commentating of Gary Gerould along with being able to see the game

But, don't try it with BSPN (and probably TNT) because with their 5 sec. delay, you'll end up hearing Gary explaining a play that hasn't yet happened.

That was Tommie Heinsohn, a Celtic's lug from the 60's. He is without a doubt the most biased and ignorant analyst of any team in the country.

My wife and I love Grant and Jerry. Totally opposites and play off each other well. Over the years have collected "Jerryisms", the humorous (to us) quips Jerry makes. For example, during a game an opposing team fan under the basket was screaming that a nearly blatant foul by the opposing team was not a foul and Jerry said "That fan obviously didn't see that play. Or maybe he was just dumber than a stump!" :D

We're lucky to have their dialog and humor during every game.
