So do people think if they don't post he's hurt already it will just go away?

Groin problem they claim lead to a knee issue. He's getting an MRI.

Is this injury caused by improper workouts with his brother? I'd say it's related.

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. In fact, he's lucky to be alive after all those "improper workouts" he's been doing most of his life.

Good grief, dude. Take it down a notch. I hadn't heard he was injured, and getting an MRI in and of itself doesn't mean we should start planning his memorial service.

And one more thing? If you're going to be the one to break the news on something like this, it's generally considered good form to post some kind of link to confirm your comments.

What are you clamoring about? Where's the link to confirm this? Why assume people have even HEARD he's injured? I, for one, haven't heard this yet.
 
Buried down in the Beno article in the Bee this morning was talk of Beno's knee issue from EuroBasket play followed by this one sentence paragraph:

"He isn't the only one who's not fully healthy, though, as numerous sources close to the team said Evans sat out the scrimmage with a knee issue that is not believed to be serious."

No big deal to me. Let's just get on with it and stash the conspiracy theories. :cool:

Kings highly-touted draft pick Tyreke Evans had a rough first day of training camp Tuesday, as numerous sources close to the team tell me he sat out tonight's scrimmage with a knee issue.

While we'll surely hear more about it tomorrow, no one seems to be overly concerned just yet. I was told that he had been dealing with a lingering groin problem of some sort and may have impacted the knee in a secondary way, and wouldn't be shocked if they did a precautionary MRI tomorrow. It now makes sense why I had been told earlier in the day that he didn't do the team's conditioning test, as he was clearly laboring because of this problem. - Sam Amick

My point to Section 101 stands. He was awfully quick to grab the tin foil hat, etc. AND while doing so neatly sidetracked the important "knee issue THAT IS NOT BELIEVED TO BE SERIOUS" part.

Well I came on the fourm this morning to post the report and the link, but instead I see this contentious post from you. You assume an awful lot with very little information. Little injuries can lead to bigger injuries if not dealt with quickly and properly. The great Dizzy Dean of the St. Louis Cardinals ended up ruining his career by trying to pitch with a small foot injury. It affected his pitching motion and he ended up damaging his throwing arm. He was never the same pitcher again.

Most times these things are caused by the stubborness of the player himself/herself, trying to play through the injury. Hopefully they caught it in time and there was no damage to the knee.:cool:
 
The comment about improper training by his brother reminds me of when SpongeBob had "The Suds" and Patrick decided to be his doctor.
 
i remember when people thought that bibby's finger injury wasnt that serious, now we have beno....

Where are you getting your information that he is not training right? Because it is with his brother, who doesn't have his best interests in mind? How do you know his brother is not an accomplished physical trainer, with a degree in the field and many years of experience?
 
A fairly ridiculous spin on some legitimately unfortunate news here. We need the kid to have as much training camp time as possible to settle in, let alone how much it would suck if it were actually something serious. Two of our last three lottery picks (Hawes) come into camp with knee issues -- we've got enough problems wthout throwing in bad luck as well.

P.S. And as an aside, yes its obviously all the workout's fault because no human can ever work out without an NBA professinal trainer on hand without injuring one's knees.

Evans brother isn't a member of any of the associations. And isnt on any of the other ones out there.

Just because he has his best interests doesn't mean he is doing the right thing. It's not like Evans has experience to go on for what he needs to do at the NBA level. He doesn't know what his routine needs to be at this point in his career.

VF, sorry I didn't post the link to the bee I was on my cell phone when I made the post.

Greg Oden started with just an MRI that turned into exploratory surgory then microfracture. If he didn't have a "impact" type event that caused the injury there cause for concern.

As for my first comment. The Amick blog was up for almost 12 hours. It doesn't normally take more than 10 mins for someone to post up a comment on it.

And again, that remains a ridiculous spin on the injury. All across this country right now there are literally millions of 20 yr old men working out, without Pete Youngman or anything like him, and amazingly walking home without a limp. There are thousands of college athletes, which Evans essentially is, not even allowed to workout with their college trainers, amazingly not blowing out there knees. Working out is not that difficult.

Maybe Youngman would have had him tone it down or stop after having a groin injury. Work on streching and recovery of the groin that would have prevented the knee problem.

Like I've said, I'd put more trust into a professional than a relative telling me what to do.

And as I pointed out above, he's a 19 year old rookie. If it was a vet that has their offseaon workout routine down it would be different working out alone or with someone. But from the reports Evans brother is leading and controlling the workout, not Tyreke.

What is your problem? How do you know the issue didn't start to develop in Summer League? Sounds like you just have an ax to grind. You may disagree that the Kings drafted Evans, but I'm not sure where the need is to attack him at this point in his career. As far as I've heard, the guy has been nothing but professional and eager to play for Sac.
 
First off, his brother isn't his physical trainer, he has had a trainer since an early age and he was actually interviewed by Kings.com after the draft. I have no doubts he is an excellent physical trainer, just look at 'Reke! He seemed like he knew his stuff to me.
 
And regardless, people get injured. We don't even now the nature of the injury, so having this discussion about what caused it is a bit premature (and doesn't really matter). What matters is that I really do hope it's nothing serious and that he can resume training soon.
 
I suggest not jumping to any conclusions before knowing the facts. After working the the "fitness field" for the last 5 yrs, and can say we reasonable confidence that Tyreke's brother had no bearing on this injury, which sounds like a strain at this point. People tweak and strain the surrounding muscle's or tissue fairly often, and while it can result in knee pain or a slight strain, it often is not serious at all.
 
Good thing our NBA-level training program has resulted in every player suiting up for all 82 games year after year! :rolleyes:
 
I just heard that Tyreke's been getting his weightlifting advice from the character Frank Reynolds from It's Always Sunny in Philadephia (played by Danny DeVito):

"Frank: All right, here's what you're going to do. You're going to take all the weight on your neck. Then you're going to jam your legs down and hyper-extend your ankles, and then shoot back up and lock your knees in place.

Dee: Not one of those things sounds right to me. At all."

Who do you think he has been training with since he got to town??? I haven't heard anything about his brother being here.

This is the same relative that has been training him since he was 4 years old. So he has obviously done a terrible job so far, unless you give him ZERO credit for the physical shape that Tyreke is in right now.
