What are the chances given the stats in the OP?

In LV, with 30 minutes to work with, Evans averages were 19.2ppg on 40% shooting 6.2 RPG and 4.2 APG. It would make much sense if his APG went up to 6, and his PPG should hold. Given this theory stat line of 20, 6 and 6; what are the chances the fans of the NBA send Evans to the 2010 Allstar game?

As a #4 pick, if he doesn't make the rookie team, he'd have to be considered something of a failure.

As for making the regular WC All Star team, he has zero chance to be a starter, since that would mean bumping Chris Paul or Kobe Bryant... not gonna happen. I'd give him about a 5% chance of riding the All Star pine, though.

0%

Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Kobe Bryant, Brandon Roy, Jason Richardson, Chauncey Billups, Russel Westbrook, Kevin Durant.

Maybe I forgot someone. But That's alot of snubs to get in a rookie.

The rookie team should be a foregone conclusion though.

there are to many players at his position. unless he puts up some gawdy numbers like 25/7/7(w/ very few t/o's) then maybe he can bump paul but i dont see him doing that. he would still have to beat out our own kevin martin as the best player on this team to not go to the all star game first.

Not this year. Maybe year after next.

And I agree with the first reply, if he doesn't become a Rookie team starter, it would seriously be quite disappointing to say the least.

Westbrook and Billups aren't locks. Durant, Kobe, Paul, Melo, Roy, Deron, Yao are the only "locks" i can think of. That leaves 1 more spot for a util G, and we can assume Billups/Nash wins that spot. and the underdogs are Westbrook, Mayo, Eric Gordon, Kevin Martin, Jason Terry, Manu Ginobili, Tyreke Evans. So i was just wondering the odds, lie 50:1 or 100:1? more/less? who said JRich was going to be in contention for the allstar team??? lol!

Making the all Rookie team requires minutes, and he should certainly get them. As for the WC all star team. I would say slim and none. And that has nothing to do with his talent. It has more to do with the competion, as you stated. Hell, we had problems getting established stars onto the team, much less a rookie that doesn't have the name recogonition yet.

Interesting that you would mention Ginobili and not Parker; is he not expected to play at all this season?

He slightly sprained his ankle several days ago, but was playing (limited minutes) for the French team just yesterday. Barring new injuries, he should definitely be on that list.

The title of the thread said POLL but there wasn't one. There is now.

:)

I voted 11-20, BTW. Unless Reke leads the Kings to a winning record before the all-star voting is concluded, I seriously doubt even the best stats in the world would get him into the all-star game. Too many other established guards...

I totally agree, which is why I went with 0-10. I think it will be closer to 0. :p

Way too early to start thinking about this isn't it?? He hasn't even played 1 second in an NBA game...that being said, I voted for 11%, no higher.

Ah, August of the offseason. :p

And obviously roughly 0% -- a poll on whether a 19yr old rookie on a 17win team learning a new position is going to make the Western Conference All Star game based on his summer league stats?

For those considering odds better than 10%, I'll list all of the rookies who have made the regular All Star roster in the last 20 years: Shaq, Grant Hill, Tim Duncan, and Yao Ming. No Kobe, Lebron, AI, KG, Wade, Roy, CPaul or Howard. Less than 1 rookie in 300 gets that honor. I'm just sayin'.

So there's a chance!!!!!!! :D;)

'nuff said.

Ive been kinda sour at having fans vote in players ever since Rashard Lewis got in ahead of Chris Webber in 04-05. Is this poll asking if Evans will be an allstar in 09-10? There no way Evans makes it his rookie year. Bryant,Paul,Williams,Roy,Parker, are all locks to get in. Now if this poll is asking if Tyreke Evans will ever make an allstar game then id have to say absolutely yes, multiple.

Something to think about: Last 2 seasons, Kevin Martin was an established veteran, experienced at his position, 20+ ppg scorer, hovering near top 10 scorer in the league... and didn't get anywhere close to an all star bid. And even this year, I'd say Martin is hovering right around 0%.

Much less a 19 year old 2-guard who will be playing out of position all year on a lottery team. No chance.

Come on. Lets be real here. He has absolutely ZERO chance of making it. I know this has been posted by many but I just don't think it can be expressed enough in hopes that the OP understands just how ridiculous this thread is.

Let's put it this way. The only way Tyreke makes the allstar team is if he turns into the teen wolf during games and starts doing back flip dunks from the free throw line.

0.01 %

This is just in case a miracle happens this coming season that our 19-year old rookie experiment miraculously makes it somehow against all odds - I can say "I told you so !" :p

If the poll is referring to Evans' chances of being an All Star in the future - my answer is definitely, or 100 %.

I agree! The poll should have been, will Evans ever make the western all star team. And thats not a gimme by any means, but certainly more likely.

well isnt the poll just for this coming season? asking if he will ever be an all star is a totally different thread. he has a zero percent chance of making it this year, i dont know if he will ever make it. because i dont know how good he'll be.

lebron didnt even make it his rookie season......

I assumed that the question means "will he EVER be an All Star", and so I answered 31-40%. Obviously, there's zero chance he'll be an All Star this season given the depth at guard in the West. But three or four years down the line? It's possible.

I thought the poll was "What chance does Evans have of NOT making the all star game in his rookie year", so I put 91-100%. Maybe we should make a poll of how stir-crazy and overtly delusional the off season can make fans.
