The knicks are in trouble IMO. Lebron will resign with the Cavs and the knicks will be stuck with David lee and 50 million dollars in cap space.

Lee is a freeagent at the end of this year, so unless they resign him they will have nothing to show for their efforts if they can't resign one of the big names. In fact, we could very well sign Lee in the offseason. I'm not suggesting that we do. I'm just saying....

No pics to Sac? Essentially we traded T-Mac for LARRY HUGHES? Are you kidding me? I liked the deal better becasue I thought T-Mac could have been used to get SOMETHING. Apparently that something was Larry freaking Hughes! Ugh this makes me want to vomit.

So basically:

Kings get:
Landry ($3 mil - Team Option)
Dorsey($0.8 mil - Team Option)
Larry Hughes ($13.6 Expiring)
for
Kmart
Sergio

I think it was good deal. We will still have KT's contract ($8.5 mil), Ime ($0.9 mil TO), May ($1 mil TO), Armstrong ($2.8 TO) coming off the books so that. On top of that Hughes ($13.6 mil) is gone. That is $26.8 mil off the books next year. Brock will probably be resigned. We will likely pick up Landry's option.

Team:
Noc $6.8
Beno $6.5
Garcia $5.5
Tyreke $3.9
Hawes $3
JT $2.2
Omri $1.3
Greene $0.9
Landry $3
2010 Draft Pick $4 worst case
= $37

I've heard that the cap is suppose to drop to $54-$55 mil next season which leaves us with a minimum of $17 mil to spend next season. We can pick up a good player and resign Brock for that money.

I think it will work.

It became our deal when Kevin Martin got involved.

Exactly. We should've told NYK to go jump off a cliff and that McGrady was coming our way if KMart was leaving. Then we could have told NY we'd trade him and we would've come out on top. We still got a decent deal but Houston wound up with a much better one than they would've if we would've told NY to momentarily take a hike.

Kings continue to bleed talent....couldn't we have at least gotten in on those picks? Little dissapointing on our end. Rockets come up big time in this deal IMO.
Get tougher: Check!
Clear up log jam at the SG position: Check!
Clear out more PT for our kids: Check!
Save a boat load of $$$ for the offseason: Check!

Yeh, I figured after the year he is having they will re-sign him. If the kings were in a bigger market Landry and cap space would be fantastic. not so sure in Sacramento....

Th positive of this trade is the Kings are on their way to being a defensive team. Reke, Greene, and landry is a nice defensive base.

55 minutes to go until the deadline...is Petrie done?!?
That's what I'm thinking. If we still have KT and now Hughes, we can actually move one or both.

I would have liked Hill and picks plus the original deal, but if we're going to draft a big then we just create another logjam of young guys up front. Having them fight for minutes is great but may not result in us developing the best guy. Now we can possibly trade for a vet or make a big free agent move.

Man, we're REALLY blowing up our data server these past 10 hours or so!:D Posts are timing out and taking like 20 minutes to post. I wonder how this trade compares to the Webber trade, as far as board activity? When's there been more board activity? VF, Brick...I know you know.:D

This sucks if we don't get Jordan Hill...

Somethings weird... how could we have had enough leverage to think we could ask for David Lee?...

K9 + Hughes = TMAC as far as salary goes and they are all expiring... THe good news is, the Kings did not get stuck with Jeffries.

It seems the Rockets got the most... But the also commit the most money for now and future. So it depends how you look at it.

The leverage was ONLY if we were willing to take back Jeffries. Houston gave in and absorbed Jeffries, so that's why they got the Hill + picks deal. They didn't even actually need us to do that deal, but our Martin/Landry deal got tied in.

Apparantly, we could have taken on that part of the deal, but our counteroffer was Lee instead. Personally, I would have taken the Jeffries deal, because there's no way we're going to make good use of all our capspace this summer anyway, and it expires the following year. The right to swap 2011 picks might be meaningless for us, and 2012 could be low; but still it would have been fun to sit back and root for the Knicks offseason bonanza plans to blow up in their faces.

Since Houston relented and essentially agreed to the original NY deal that they could have made without us, the Knicks had no reason to give us anything. Houston is providing them the cap space they wanted; we are providing them nothing. Martin for Landry/Dorsey is really a separate deal. We only acted as a go-between for the two differently-sized expirings of T-Mac and Hughes.
Basically. This was Houston's trade, I think right now and in the long run they made out the best. Time will tell what GP does with the Kings.

Also, I think the Knicks did the worse out of the 3 teams.

They gave up their 1st round pick Jordan Hill + 2 more 1st round pics... just for cap space. Its like if they can't sign Lebron and another big name, they are xxxked.

Considering martin's value was declining by the minute -- the Kings did fine. What little we got from the Knicks was a slap to remind us that we were dealing an overpaid scorer with a high schooler's physique.

The team was much more entertaining before he came back, and will be better with guys with heart like Landry and Cisco. Down the road Looking at a lottery pick again for next season, and money to fire at some good talent out there.

I think it's as good as Petrie good do. I went to bed thinking the Kings would be stuck with Martin and woke up with hope that the team can be good again.

can we trade this server too ? can't handle more than 10 members at the time lately and crashes evert time Hawes blocks a shot.

Im perfectly fine with how the trade ended up going down, the team wasn't gonna get Lee and we didn't get stuck with Jeffries. Sure we gave up Kmart but it was clear that we needed the front court help and we sure got it.

What Landry lacks in size for a big he makes up for with toughness. Unlike a couple big men on our team he is consistent, hands of gold and will slam the ball right into the hole no floaters. He was a vital part of the Rockets too, hes consistent in the 4th and he knocks down free throws. Toss all that together and we get a little cap flexibility and a project in Dorsey a rebounding beast in college.

I love what we got building here a bunch of tough bruising scrappers and a little bit of finesse too it's finally looking up for us Kings fans.

Why do we have to wait 3 hours for a page to load? Houston has 2,000 people viewing their forums and we have problems with just 20 people.

I know people may not feel this is the absolute best we could have gotten, but it's not a perfect world. We did fine here. I think it's become apparent that the team is better off without Martin now, and that's not a knock on Kevin as I've always been a fan.

We got a young tough big in Landry who really is great off the bench. He'll provide energy and hustle; he'll be a fan favourite pretty soon.

I know everybody is sleeping on Dorsey but I hope he gets a chance. This kid is a monster defensively. It's just a shame that he is so small. He's about 6'8'' which is far too small to play signigicant minutes at C, but he can come in for 10-15 mins a game and rebound the ball. He's a very good athlete - strong, good vertical, quick. I loved him coming out of Memphis. If he gets the minutes he will produce in the rebounding department as well as chipping in with a block or two. His development may be hindered by Brockman, though. Brock is tougher but Dorsey is a much better athlete. He was probably just a throw in but I hope he gets a chance. His potential is Ben Wallace. Will he reach it? Doubtful. But possible.

This cap room could be very useful in the summer. I won't hold my breath for Bosh, who I think would be a perfect fit with 'Reke and co, but I'm not expecting a few MLE veteran signings. I will give Geoff the benefit of the doubt until the summer, but he has to make better signings than he has in the past. I don't really trust him in FA.

Good trade. Team should get better and the hustle and excitement should return. Also in much better shape financially.

Reading some of the posts on the Houston message board, it's sounds like we got a really good player. I'am glad we didn't take on Jeffries salary- a BIG plus for us. I'am kind of disappointed that we didn't get a pick out the TMac deal. But my first impressions about the whole trade package is that we've positioned ourselves very well for the next season.

Martin, good luck to you in Houston. Sometimes a change in scenery works wonders you know.
