Going to be disappointed if we bring Casspi in at the expense of Moreland but if we bring both back, decent move.
Why would it be at the expense of Moreland? Might not have been broadcast, but we know he got a ton of interest. I do think we'd be in the lead for his services though

Kings let Casspi escape waivers because they want to sign him to mult-year deal. Part of international NBA 3.0.

Kings like Casspi's lack of position. Told his agent needed a few days to renounce and stretch contracts to make room.

Deal expected to be in the bi-annual exception range, 3-4 years.
3 point shooting and semi competent defense at a bargain price. Why would the Kings NOT take Acy and Moreland for those final spots? Those are 2 guys that bring skillsets we NEED on this team.
I guess I just don't understand the point in giving Casspi a roster spot. What is he going to bring to the Kings that we don't already have?

Acy is more redundant.
And that's why he's making under a million.He's a fairly average 3 point shooter
Gotta credits the FO.This isn't directed towards anyone in particular but just a general and honest question. If Casspi is considered a decent "3 and D" guy, why is he signing for the minimum on a 28 win team? I would think better teams would have been after his services.

Well the thing is he is not a 3 and D guy. He is an energy guy a bit like Acy. He brings some intensity, streaky shooting, decent rebounding but not much D.This isn't directed towards anyone in particular but just a general and honest question. Not as a stretch 4....he becomes better than most, but as a SF, yes his 3 point shooting is very average. For certain matchups ....surrounding Cuz with Collison, Stauskas, Casspi, maybe Gay gives up some 3 point shooters for stretches.....I guess. He's a fairly average 3 point shooter
It wouldn't be on Casspi. The reported reason for leaving that niche was so they could offer a longer than two year contract. Presumably so at the end of the day, they can have RFA on that player when the contract is up (similar to Thomas'). The reports Casspi is either a one or two year minimum.Remember, the Kings signed Darren Collison to the full MLE minus one minimum contract. They could theoretically use the rest of that MLE on Casspi's deal, or use it on Moreland.
I should also note that Moreland recently followed Cuz on twitter, along with Sacramento local media accounts. Just sayin.
One year at league minimum per espn. I just don't know what to say besides we better keep Acy.

Goodbye Moreland and Brooks...Stein's latest tweet suggests that signing Casspi instead of claiming him off waivers allows the Kings to keep Acy as well, while staying under the luxury tax.
Several points being raised. My (long) thoughts on them
- LT: AFAIK, going into LT means that not only does one pay the tax (which would be minimal in our case, even if went over it), the team loses it's share of the tax other teams pay. I personally do think that it's pointless to lose all that money, unless you are really improving the team/getting some assets. Fans don't care because it's not our money, but for owners, even rich owners, a few million dollars, is a reasonable amount of money. Moreover, if they earn now, they might be more willing to spend later, instead of the other way.
Although there is nothing holding him to it, and you can't expect him to honor it for decades if he owns the team in perpetuity, Vivek said he had no intention of taking the revenue sharing from luxury taxes during the move to Seattle saga.
