Earl Boykins.

Roman

Bench
If I'm GM of the Kings, I'm looking to see what the Nuggets want for Earl Boykins. The kid is all but out in Denver and he's a high energy guy.

I'd prefer him off the bench to Ronnie Price.

What do ya'll think?

I'm not a huge Earl fan, except for novelty. He's a major liability on defense and he doesn't take good shots. As much as this team needs offense, it also doesn't need another sub-40% shooter in the mix.

He's no more a liability than Price on defense. What I like is he averages more assists per minute than anyone we have and his assist to TO ratio is usually high.

He's a playmaker as opposed to a shoot first guy.

I'd take Earl to plug that hole at backup PG/bench scorer...but only if we're being serious about putting together a winner now.

Thing is, I'm not sure Denver could afford to deal with us on that one, because the very reason we could use Earl -- we have no adequate optin at backup PG -- means we can;t offer the Nuggets a real backup PG in return, leaving them one A.I. injury away from total disaster at that position.

er...now I'm not sure I'm following?

a) Price is actually a pretty good defender

b) Boynkins is a playmaker mostly for himself. He's dynamic, but he's always been shoot first.

Price is okay, no better or worse than Boykins. Both are better than Bibby.

You're probably right. I'm probably just looking at what limited action I see of him and the fact that he's available.

He is a bit of a shooter. I guess what I like about him is his TO ratio.

But you're right. I'm wrong. I was doing a grass is greener.

I think you're selling Price short. Either way Price is young and developing while you pretty much know what you're getting with Boykins at this point.

Boykins is kind of like Bobby Jackson, but shorter... and without the rebounding... and the heart... and the likability (don't ask).

I think Earl Boykins has lots of heart.

You pretty much have heart by default when you are 5'5/130 pounds and you are a good player in the NBA.

I'd trade Kenny for Earl and Najera(or other filler)

Sounds good. Najera is a good role player and worker like K9 is/was for us. EB is a great young very small little dynamo and fun to watch. I'd be very happy if we could dump K9 and his huge contract, I really doubt Denver would go for it, but it's worth the shot.
