I'm sure it was a quick quip reply not thinking the interwebs would dissect the heck out of it.

... and question to the OP, where the heck did you come from? In a matter of days of being a new member (not just here on KF) you have been posting Kings news like a madman all over the BB forums... what gives? Just a curious observation is all...... seem awefully interested everyone knows little negs for a new guy out in the forums.

They're all from the Cuse.; It's just typical twitter humor.

I suspect, the reply is more because all of those players are from Cuse.

However, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Donte wanted out and I wouldn't blame him. He's getting little to no PT on a team in the cellar. It's only a matter of time before he does express his desire to get out of town

well, the OP's site generates revenue from the ads for ppl visiting it. thats probably why he's linking it there instead of the original donte twitter account.

I don't even think I would want to play at Power Balance Pavillion. But I'm out of step with this world. It sure adds insult to injury. In general, a bad year for the Maloofs, Petrie, Westphal, coachie, Evans, Cousins, and Garcia.

The reason why Donte is where he is right now is because he doesn't take responsibility for anything. He never took the initiative to improve his game and conditioning in the off season but instead chose to come into camp out of shape and rusty. "Wishing" he were traded fits right in with how he's handled himself in the past year or so. If he was smarter, he would realize that PW and the Kings would like nothing more for him to be a big part of the team. The fact of the matter is they don't have enough good players so if he actually contributed and played well then there would be plenty of playing time for him. Getting traded to a better team would just bury him further on the bench.

He doesn't get minutes now because he can't play the way the coaches are directing him to play. He frequently jacks up terrible shots and, in general, he's a very bad decision maker on the floor. There are times that he plays with solid defensive intensity but it's not enough to overcome him being out of shape and being a poor decision maker. And making that comment on Twitter just shows how immature he really is.

A little harsh but I agree with you. I think everybody including the coaches would love it if Donte could turn it around. Meantime, I'm happy with who is taking his place - Garcia and Casspi.

I'm sure Donte would like to try his luck somewhere else, and I can't blame him. I do at least partially blame him for his predicament. He really didn't do anything to improve during the offseason, and did come into camp overwieght. And I blame Westphal and Kings mamagement as well. I think you have to monitor a young team, and not just leave offseason decisions totally up to them. Yeah, I realize that the players can do what they want in the offseason, but management can exercise a little pressure.

There is obviously something going on behind the scenes, because Donte has become almost an afterthought. And unfortunately, in the brief periods he does get on the floor, he hasn't done anything to warrant anymore time. In the Wizard's game the other night, he played 5 minutes. The first time he touched the ball he threw it out of bounds for a turnover. He followed that with an airball from the left corner. He was brought in to help stop Young, but Young beat him off the dribble twice, and then unexplicably left Young wide open for a three. So at that point, I couldn't blame Westphal for taking him out of the game. I mean if you can't defend the guy better than anyone else, and you can't shoot the ball either, why should you be on the floor?

Now having said that, I know its hard to just sit there night after night, and then suddenly be asked to go into the game an stop a player that happens to be red hot. By the same token, it was hard to watch Paul Pierce just absolutely abuse Cisco last night. And when you consider that Cisco wasn't contributing anything on the Offensive side of the ball, why not give Greene a shot. He certainly couldn't have done any worse.

I agree that Greene didn't do much to help his cause but it feels like there are two sets of rules on this team.

Really, who did improve this offseason from last year?
Who showed up in better shape?
Who hasn't had multiple moments this season when they've either made defensive errors, shown a lack of effort, or just plain sucked?

We (not pointing the finger at you Baja) keep using these questions as justification for why Donte doesn't play yet ignore the fact that the entire team is guilty of the same problems.

We are young. Our young guys need to improve or we are going to be in for a long period of sucking.

Westphal, pick a rotation that features the young guys and let them play. Stop acting like an *** trying to enforce your will with some guys while inconsistently ignoring it in others. Teach. Coach. If not, get the f out.

I kind of agree with this: all of the kids routinely make boneheaded mistakes, but Greene is the only one who gets summarily **** on, basically, one hundred percent of the time. In fact, if I were more of a "foil hat" conspiracy theorist, I might suggest that Greene has become Westphal's whipping boy in lieu of Evans, that Westphal has some grievance or other with Evans, and feels like he needs to be disciplined (who the **** knows why), but that management has made him untouchable, so he has decided to take his aggression towards Evans out on Greene.*

*There's virtually no chance the previous sentence is true, but it can't be any less logical than whatever Westphal's actual reason is...

I think I tried to point out the double standard when I mentioned Cisco's defense against Pierce. I can understand to some extent, since Cisco is a veteran that constantly works on his game. But ultimately the game is about results, not good intentions.

I know you get it and was trying to point out that my post wasn't a disagreement with yours. Sorry if that didn't come across.

It's truly amazing how people take to the likable underachievers. Kings fans become attached and have trouble admitting the obvious... Justin Williams anyone? If Donte is any good he will have to break out. Period!

Donte is not gonna stay in the league unless he takes over and becomes a doer (Douby?). A consistant doer. He's been around long enough to get the idea. Is it gonna take a trade and a few more coaches to bench him to give Westfall the benefit of the doubt?... There is something more there people.... Figure it out and fight please Donte, I am routing for you. If you don't, whatever the reason (coach dnp), you will realize sometime later in life, what you should have become was really worth fighting as hard as you could for...

The question might be, how much does Donte love basketball. Players tend to excell at sports they love. I was a baseball player. When I was a kid during the summer, I was up with the sun and out the door as quickly as I could get my breakfast down. I played baseball all day long, and when the sun went down, I was under a street light bouncing a tennis ball off of steps to improve my reflexes. I ate, drank, slept, and just plain lived to play baseball. And you know what, I became pretty damm good at the game. God had given me a lot of natural gifts, and I like to feel that I exploited all of them to the best of my ability.

However I played on teams with players that in some cases were more naturally talented than I was. Not may ran faster, but some were just naturally bigger or had better throwing arms etc. But you know what, I was a better player than almost all of them. Because I worked harder than they did, and but for a torn rotator cuff and a couple of other things, I might have realized my dream.

So I truely wonder just how much Donte really wants it. I mean wants it to the point of not being denyed. Some players that are naturally gifted tend to rely on just that. Their natural gifts, and they expect that to get them by. If your really gifted like Derrick Coleman was, then just relying on those gifts is still good enough. But in Donte's case, its going to take dedication and hard work. Not only in the gym, but in the classroom. I hope for his sake he doesn't throw away his career by being content to just be part of a team, instead of being an important part.

Very nice post! My sport was basketball. I miss those days of playing all day long and never getting tired; coming home with hands black with dirt from playing on the asphalt.

I loved basketball, but was intelligent enough to realize that my gifts lay elsewhere. Besides, everytime I tried to take a jumpshot, some real tall kid had his hand on top of the ball. I miss those days as well. I can honestly say that I did stop and smell the roses then. Now my bones creak just getting up out of a chair. I'd still give nine innings a go though..
