Not giving him the benefit of the doubt at all. He is a bigot and clearly said what he said. I just find it hard to believe he would allow himself to be recorded saying such things by his mistress.
I thoroughly believe that there are a lot of people, mainly rich people and politicians, that don't think the rules in the world we live in apply to them.

Just to tack on an idea I expressed elsewhere, is there any indication that he knows his girl friend is part African American? It is all odd beyond belief.

Generally, yes, but this is Sterling we're talking about here. He doesn't think like most.

He had no problem running that franchise into the ground for years before CP3 fell in his lap.
No problem with the first line.

As for the second, why would he have a problem? It was making a profit, just like his real estate holdings. And I don't mean this in a flattering way.

Yeah, from what I've read he knew.

Why? We're talking about a racist who owns a basketball team, with a half-black mistress. Why is that so hard to believe"?
Why? Because I have a hard time believing it. Lol. Why would someone, in any setting, have their private conversations with their mistress/significant other recorded, let alone conversations that are racially charged. Not to mention they were fighting and he was essentially dumping her because she wouldn't obey his wishes. So that makes it even harder to believe.
Sterling:" Ok, I'm going to lay into my mistress with some racist rant and tell her I will move onto to another woman who will obey my racist wishes...oh and I will let her record the whole thing" . Riiiiiight

Hell, the transcripts more or less suggested that he was a willing cuckold; I don't imagine that there's anything they could tell me about Sterling that would surprise me.

What is going to make this ugly are the rumors already popping up that Sterling will fight this. I applaud Silver and the NBA for their swift actions but if Sterling makes a mess out of this which drags on for months or even years, the Clippers as we know them might get dismantled. I don't see Doc returning and see players wanting to force their way out if Sterling is still technically the owner this summer.

If I was Doc or a Clippers player, I wouldn't want to play/coach in LA next year if Sterling still owns the team and is fighting against punishment handed out by the league.
So I'm guessing now would be the time for the Kings to pull off my Carl Landry for DeAndre Jordan trade.

So he can be a cuckold while he is married and porking his mistress. He certainly suggested it and the idea didn't seem to bother him. My mind is now thoroughly bent. Like I wrote, he doesn't think normal rules apply to him. What's to worry?

If I were Sterling right now, I'd resign effective immediately. And I'd leave the city of Los Angeles. And I'd go to somewhere with very little to no NBA influence. I would also seriously consider leaving the country...

It will be interesting how he reacts. I doubt if he thinks he has done anything wrong although after the NBA did what it did, he must have some idea that something he said was wrong in the minds of others. Whether he acknowledges he has said something wrong is doubtful.

He is very unaware and from that tape or chip or whatever it was, he didn't seem to hear what he didn't want to hear. I realize probably very few people are as interested in that as I am but I think it means he may stay in LA blissfully angry that Silver screwed him over.

Now I wonder if any racists get the idea that their attitudes me may be wrong in the minds of the greater culture. I kinda doubt it. It's a shame.

I understand that racism is a big thing and should be dealt with properly and the commissioner did just that (bravo to him) but I'm getting sick and tired of reading all this news about it. It's good that it's all over NBA TV and ESPN but CNN and other news stations? Come on now. One idiot says a bunch of stupid things and it's deal with immediately with proper care. That's it. Back to the playoffs man. People are so drama crazy. They thrive on it. One less billionaire to worry about, everyone wins. Back to life now where we are all slaves...

I would be too if it was just a politically incorrect comment, but it was flat out racist what Sterling said, and if he does not realize that then he got everything he deserved.

So and So Day doesn't run afoul of the bill of attainder clause in the constitution. A public resolution condemning a named citizen for a non-illegal action and requiring restitution (even in the minor form of an apology) does.

This has nothing to do with government, but politicians gonna politic.

I think racism should be categorized under inhumane. It seems like racism is only categorized for blacks.
To say such comments that Sterling said were inhumane and don't belong in a society full of sane individuals. If I had it my way, I'd exile him from the country for such comments considering his level of stature and the position that he holds. A corrupt man with that much money and deluded mindset does not belong in this country nor should his business be accepted. I hope all his partners drop him like a fly.

LOS ANGELES – Former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is seeking a divorce from his wife.

His attorney Bobby Samini says Wednesday the papers citing "irreconcilable differences" were submitted in Los Angeles County Superior Court roughly two weeks before their 60th anniversary.

However, the court rejected it as incomplete. Samini said the paperwork will be fixed and resubmitted Wednesday.
