Do you read the "front page"?

Do you visit the KingsFans.com Home Page?

I updated the site a few weeks ago including the front page and I'm just curious if anybody actually looks at it. I'm asking because there's a poll that's been up for over a week that only has one vote. Please vote and/or provide your feedback here. Thanks!

Depends: at home, my browser's pointed straight to the forums. At work, where I'm not permitted to set personal favorites, I go through the front page.

The front page stays static for too long. I generally don't expect to find new information there so I skip straight to the forums.

It would be cool if the currently active threads were linked on the front page. I think that would convince people to enter the site there more.

Only if I am checking things from a "strange" computer do I ever see the front page - my bookmark goes to the forum main page.

I stopped updating it awhile back because hardly anyone was looking at it, and I suppose that led to no one looking at it.

I've been updating it on a daily basis for the last few weeks. The most recent 5 posts are in the top right. An up-to-date schedule with results is below that. I short blurb about the last game is in the middle. There's a poll and a little block that tells you if you have any PMs and who's online over on the left.

At this point I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it or not, or if I should just have it redirect to the forums.

JGar - I just checked the poll on the home page. My display shows the results. I don't think I voted but I don't have the vote option available to me..

One thing I think is really interesting is the calendar. Being able to click on a game day and have immediate links to the game discussion thread, the PBP and Brick's grades for that game is a GREAT idea!

I have the poll, but only the poll results. No opportunity to vote. I just thought it was an old poll. :o

I agree that there is too much white background. A lightbackground like the forums would be easier on the eyes. Maybe even a different color for each column just to spruce it up.

Maybe you can have a highlighed link to the home page so people will notice it and take a look. I used to check it from time to time, but during the downtime I just stopped looking all together.

Perhaps even adding a "Last updated" date next to the link will get more activity over there.

I used to think that I would visit the homepage more if it was updated more frequently, but the more I think about it the more I realize I probably wouldn't visit the homepage regardless.

I think the biggest thing is that there just isn't enough content available to put on the front page that isn't already available on the forums or elsewhere on the internet. I don't read the front page of any other forum I frequent either.

Articles written by forum members (or you) would be the only thing I think would be worth going there to read for me. But it's hard to provide that kind of content consistently.

I get to the forums through the front page everytime I go on to Kingsfan. However, I look at the front page like the pile of laundry on my floor--I don't notice it unless there is something unusual that catches my attention or if I need a specific pair of dirty socks.
