Do we have the pieces for Gasol?

Do you guys think its worth? If so, do we have enough assets to get Gasol from Memphis without including Martin?

I mean, its no secret we're in dire need of a real presence in the low post since we lost Webber. An all-star caliber player who can rebound, block shots, take charges AND score in the low post. I know Brad is very talented but way too soft to defend and work in the low post on both ends of the court.

A package around Bibby would be enough to get Gasol?

Unfortunately, the only teams that we will be able to trade with are contending teams. Of course the talent we want will usually be on rebuilding teams but they are in the same boat as us so no deal is possible. That's why expiring contracts are really the only thing we can hope to get.

Perhaps it could be possible with Artest (7 million expiring contract) and Garcia. Or maybe next year with Bibby (13 million expiring contract). The thing is that we want that money to expire on our books as well.

We don't need a big man that can take charges. We need a big man that makes offensive players put on the breaks.

This "taking charges" version of defense is infuriating to me. I wish these players would stop jumping in front of offensive players and falling all over the place. That's not defense, and someone is going to get seriously hurt from landing on a flopper.

We need defense, rebounding and toughness. 3 things Gasol doesn't have. We have scorers: Bibby, Martin, Salmons, Cisco, Brad, etc. But we don't have what Gasol doesn't have as well. So lets forget him, eh?

Nope but the Lakers do for Crittenton, Kwame and a couple of 1sts. I thought the Lakers were title contenders already, this certainly helps.

Meanwhile in the "King-dumb".....we hold steadfast to our guard contingent. I realize nobody wants Artest now, but there was a time when the problem could have been remedied.

They would certainly get seriously hurt when I broke their ribs with my leading knee and then stepped on their fallen body for good measure.

I like what Barkley claims that he used to do when people would take charges against him: step on their chest and/or groin and then say to them: "If you can take five more of those, you're a better man than me."

In answer to the original question, do we have the pieces to get Gasol, apparently not. Apparently, the Grizz were less interested in pieces than in cap space.
