Ailene Voison was right all along despite protestations of the majority. She harped all season long how he was slow to get back in transition and opponents exploited the ease with which the opposing big could beat Boogie down the floor. I think we are already seeing the Dave Joerger Effect which is to say our new coach wants to play lock down defense and knows he needs his best player to anchor that defense, not be the last man down court huffing and puffing and barking at the refs. As an aside, George Karl intimated Boogie needed to get in better shape, and fans acted like this was an affront when all he was doing was speaking truth.
I would guess he's 10 pounds (not 20) lighter which will still make a big difference in agility, lightness on his feet, extra ability to blow by opponents without hindering his ability to punish players down low. Good for Boogie. I am off the Trade Boogie Bandwagon for a Ransom if he maintains and improves upon his conditioning, wins a gold medal and is used similarly to how Karl used him with a few more touches off the block. Hopefully he's working on his post game too, specifically a half hook to the middle. A better conditioned Boogie is a Boogie that will more likely stay healthy, instead of being in and out of the line-up with assortment of maladies. This Boogie can have a career season, get his TS% over 55%, his assist to turnovers above 1.0, and lead us to the playoffs instead of being the west coast version of Kevin Love.
