So the Kings had 3 Trades over the trade

1. Shumpert for Burks and 2020 2nd Rd pick from Houston.
2. Barnes for Randolph and Jackson (Mavs got a 21.3Mill trade exception)
3. Skal for Swanigan

I actually think the King's did average to poor in trades.
Trade 1 and 3 are just bad trades. Trading better players for worse players is inherently bad. And the only upside is the Rockets 2020 2nd Rd pick which will probably be 50+ . Which is worthless.

Trade 2 is what the Kings fans are excited about and understandably so. A legitimate SF with size and defensive capabilities. Definitely got the better player here. But Dallas got compensated with a 21.3Mill trade exception. That is a hell of a compensation. I'm surprised that the Kings had to throw in Jackson. I'm surprised they weren't able to convince them to take Skal instead. (If they said no I would still do the deal with Jackson)

Mostly I'm disappointed that the Kings gave up both Jackson and Shumpert. Players who have shown they can play minutes at SF. Keeping one to pair with Barnes would've been preferable to Burks Swanigan.

Harrison is a big win.

Shump/Burks is a loss. Didn’t understand the trade when it happened, don’t understand it now.

Skal / Swanigan is a push. I think Skal has something, it wasn’t going to happen here though.

Overall, the Barnes trade probably pushes it to a win overall. Didn’t knock it out of the park, but a solid C+/B-.

Kings were coveting a SF, whether that be Porter or Barnes and they got one of them. How that turns out moving forward remains to be seen but in the mean time, the three trades overall is a C grade for me.

As much as his offensive underperformance has annoyed me, I’d still take Barnes sizeably over anything we gave up. At least he has the potential of being a solid long term piece. Everything else is noise. Skal/Justin/cap space to Dallas/even Shump aren’t moving the needle.

Shump/Burks wasn’t needed, but Imans game has fell off the cliff since being traded. Maybe it was tough psychologically to move on from the Scores

I give the moves a B+:)

Shumps Role was going to be reduced with the Kings with Barnes playing major minutes. So the Kings did him a solid and put him in on a top flight contender. Burks and the pick are a nice return, we will see better play from Burks I predict.

Barnes for Jackson, ZBO and cap relief is a win. Barnes was one of the target SF's the Kings needed. This was a nice upgrade as Barnes is a known quantity in the Association.

Skal for Swan is a nice sideways move. Skal was not going to play here and Swan is one year earlier on his Rookie deal. Swan also may be a sleeper with a lot of upside.

Signing Corey Brewer adds another NBA Defensive Dog to set the tone for the rest of the team. I see his effect on the rest of the Kings Players already. At times they swarm on defense which is nice to see:)

They easily win the trades.
Wasn’t a fan of Barnes before the deal but having seen his defense now, it’s an easy win over what we gave up.

The Shump deal is a win in that the front office has shown other vets in the NBA that the Kings will do right by them (Temple, Shump), in getting them to a position or team where they can be a part of a potential playoff team that needs their skills. Burks is a talent.....just slow to integrate himself in the offense but it’s a win.

Skal and Swanigan....look, both guys may be out of the league in 3 years but Skal is not going to become Hassan Whiteside number 2......unless he puts on a whole lot of muscle and weight so he can play the 5. Swanigan, would have to see him actually play for us before we can make an assessment but this was a low level move with Swanigan maybe becoming relevant because our staff does a great job at development. They already know Skal can’t be what they want him to be.

We basically traded Shump for a weak future second. Fair trade, but I'd rather have Shump. In a heartless world we won the trade.

Barnes contract is inflated, but we probably couldn't lure a better sf/pf in the off season. Dallas gets the edge

Change of scenery in the Skal trade, Win/win for us and Blazers.

Long term considerations.

We signed Hill to an albatross, but got two seconds from that contract if we include the Shump trade. Silver worthy
Took Randolph and a poor draft pick, many wanted OG but it lead to an overpaid possible long term fit at sf/pf. Silver worthy
Temple also turned into a second.

In a cutthroat world, Vlade was able to get assets for everything he signed so far besides Kosta going back a few years.

Our mini version of Hinkie.

Shump had to disappear for the rotation to get right. Brewer can be as good/better as a def specialist and hype man. Shump couldn't shoot. Love you Shump good luck in Houston. Wash trade.

Barnes was a steal for us. ESPN Insider had projected us to give up a lot of assets to get Barnes, and we only gave up JJ who you had to squint your eyes and have a lot of loyalty to love. He and WCS were always the hardest Kings to really get behind... I know I should - I try... but meh.

Skal was a bowling pin on defense - I never got the hype. push trade for the other guy.

Overall we got a guy of significant value, a bonafide starter #3, for nothing special. Good job

Remains to be seen about the Shump/Burks trade. Shump is on IR a lot so that has to be factored in.

The Barnes/JJ trade is an absolute no-brainer.

Remains to be seen on the Swan/Skal trade.

Brewer pick up is a no brainer. He's a great addition for this team; in my opinion he's better than Shump and less likely to to be on "load management."

In sum, these moves have already improved the team considerably, and they may improve the team more than considerably if Joerger can figure out how to incorporate Burks into the lineup and the Kings' skills development people can get something out of Swan.

Absolutely, we won it. We turned nothing in something. Something significant.

Barnes can be as significant as Artest was to our end of season run in 05. With Bagley out everyone needs to step up.

On paper we lose the Shump and Skal deals but I think they were good for us.

Shump was going to see a reduced role with Barnes. We shipped him to a (fringe) contender. He's a vet and knows the game, we did him right, even if he'll lose daily contact with the kids he helped the past season. Other vets will see this.

Skal probably more talent than Swanigan but he wasn't going to play here, he was buried in the rotation and he didn't offer anything the guys ahead of him didn't. Swanigan at least provides us a different look. He may never get in a game, but again, Skal wasn't going to either. At least we get one more year for him to become a different kind of asset.

Burks is pretty useless thus far and Shump played well enough for us so that's an L.

Barnes' defense is solid and his offense should turn a corner. He shot well last game. Additionally we didn't give up much so that's a win in my book.

I'm neutral on Skal/Swanigan. Both could turn into something, but they could also be nothing. I don't think either have a legit NBA future but we'll see. The swap is even to me.

So I'll grade it a B with a record of 1-1-1.

Burks is a big plus

The biggest plus is before Burks, 1 injury to hield, bogs, or Fox and we would have been completely helpless. Shump could never fill in for 1 of those guys. Burks is versatile and can. Currently he isnt getting mins because Brewer is playing so well and Bog and Ferrel are who the coach wants to go with. Plus, brewer provides more than what shump did on the court imo.

So we loose nothing on the court, gain a great insurance policy. Shump would be in back up to barns. And with the pickup of brewer, I'd argue brewer provides more of what this team needs than shump in Defense at the wing.

He may well end up being a plus for us, but outside of the first game after the trade Burks has looked completely lost and it seems he may have lost his spot in the rotation to Brewer.
