Did Kings Lose The Game On Purpose?

A lot of fans (especially on this board) have been talking about tanking the last few games to get Seattle and basically that is what it looked like the kings did.

I do not remember Adleman calling a timeout last night until the 4th quarter.

If they did tank the game they did a horrible job of it, I mean how many times have you seen the Kings players miss at least 10 shots at the rim? also what abotu the eddie house break away missed layup?

I don't think they purposly lost, but in last nights game it looked as though they didn't care. I knew they were not getting any calls to go there way, and it almost looked as though they put there heads down.

There was no movement, no passing, and a lot of one on one game last night.

One last thing, EVERYTIME adleman brought Tag into the game last night the Kings caught up or went into the lead then as soon as he brought him out the kings went back to that 5-8 point deficit. I would have really liked to have seen Bibby play alot with greg and shoot over him, dude sets some big screens.

Last nights game also gave the Kings a losing record on the road there first in a few years!

Would not have made sense to tank lasts night game because if Denver would have won then we could have fell back to the 7th spot which would have put us up against the Spurs.

denver had to win out and sac had to lose out for denver to even have a chance at the 6th spot.

As much as I would like to say.."yeah, we played awfully on purpose"..there is no way that the Kings would EVER tank ANY game on purpose. No way...I just don't believe that our guys are those kind of players, or our coaching staff are those kind of people. Whatever team we come up against first round is just the matchup we've gotta play. period.

I don't think they did, but the last 2 games were so bad it almost looks like they did!

Kinda like the kid who trys to through a game and trys to hard.

I just have not seen that lack of effort for a few weeks, and in back to back games was even worse.

Boy do the Kings MISS Peja!

You know the team stunk it up out there when we are HOPING they tanked. ;)

In any case, obviously not, but a frighteningly flat effort from most of the team. No fire at all.

It wasnt tanked... why would it be? Who cares if we play Seattle or not... eventually we would have to play a better team, most likely Pheonix so who cares if you make it to the second round or not... our kings surely dont... they have been there enough... they want the rings and i doubt they care who they play... because they have to go through the best no matter what.

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were all bummed out by the events earlier in the day, namely the funeral for their conditioning coach who died of cancer. But if you add last nights game to the stinker in Phoenix plus another game against Phoenix Wednesday night I am not going into the Post Season with a lot of confidence. Hopefully, with reinforcements on the horizon the guys will sharpen up and get some optimism going.

I think the KINGS are just trying to get all the bad games out of their system before going into PO, b/c one there, bad games will result in elimination-so from this I think the KINGS will bring their A game comes PO

While I agree they did not tank the game everything else you have said is completely way off base. Making it to the second round is better then getting bounced from the first. Better psychologically and financially for the team. Also the Kings would rather play a weaker foe while getting their pieces back. The players would then be ready for the second round where the opponent will be tougher.

tanking in the east I can understand but in the west? not a chance. There are too many great teams for another team to do such a thing. Say what you want about Seattle but this team has won over 50 games and had it not been for a bunch of late season injures could of been even more. Hell we still may end up with 54 wins if we finish off this texas trip well.

I am sure that we respect what Sonics did this season. Honestly, we are still much more worried about Finley than You guys

I dont think the game was tanked... if the kings were to tank a game, itd be the game against the suns tomorrow. but tanking against the Jazz... and not knowing whether the Nuggets would lose that night, thats crazy.

no i don't think the kings tanked it.

no peja, and cuttino having a horrible shooting night, and on the road, it's not hard to see why the kings lost last night.

more than just that -- it was the terrible efforts form 3/4 of the roster. The Jazz were down their two best players, inclsuding their franchise guy, too. They are a terrible team, and muhc less talented then even our depleted crew. Not that you would have known it last night. Took a special concerted effort from everybody to suck that badly.

As much as I like a good conspiracy, I don't think they took dives on those games. I would assume that Adelman does not play games like that. Regardless, we will probably know one way or the other by this time next week.

What if the Kings make a miraculous ascent from the depths of mediocracy? Nah............

true true. well from what i hear, i didn't actually see the game, but it sounded like almost no effort on the kings.

didnt the same thing happen last year? we lost to phoenix and golden state and lost the pacific to the lakers.... i think we lost 3 games.... but i remember the warriors and suns though... it was 1 more bad team too i think....

Did they tank?

On closer examination of the game against Utah I have come to the conclusion that they did indeed tank.

Did Kings Lose The Game On Purpose?

Sure. Because blowing off the last couple of games in the regular season is just what this team needs to get ready for the 1st round.

Question: If the Kings and Nuggets end up with the same record, do the Kings own the tie-breaker? I can't remember, but if the Kings lose tomorrow, they'll have the same record as the Nuggets.
