did Kings decline an offer from Bulls - Noah for Hawes straight up???

I just saw a twitter comment that said Kings rejected Hawes/Noah trade after their rookie seasons. I missed it when that happened... did it REALLY happen? I've been calling for Petrie's head for years now, but maybe not soon enough.

Was there ever a confirmation that that discussion happened between Kings & Bulls? I would have thought it would kick up more fuss because I remember how disappointed I was, along with everyone else, that the Bulls took Noah instead of Hawes at #9.

What is the truth on this... a bogus Amick rumor or a Petrie boner?

I think this is wishful trade revisionist history. The Bulls were always high on Noah and were willing to wait for him to grow into his role. I don't remember ever hearing of a trade offer of Hawes for Noah, and I can't imagine it not lighting up this board at the time had it actually happened.

It's easy now, some years after the fact, for rumors of past possibilities but I'd be willing to bet this one never happened. Noah was the one the Kings were hoping to draft and they settled for Hawes. They wouldn't have let the opportunity to right the wrong pass by.

I doubt this. After their first season, Noah was better in every statistical category (totals) except TOs and 3PTM (but Hawes' 3PT% was awful so the fact Noah wasn't shooting threes was actually a plus).

So, no, I don't think the Bulls offered this.

Thanks I thought it was BS when I saw it ... then I saw some link to a purported tweet by Amick on another site ... but I still don't believe it could have happened without an s-storm here that would have been hard to miss :)

Actually, it was rumored that Petrie had his eye on Noah in the draft and intended to draft him, but the Bulls took him right before he had the chance. There probably is some truth to the rumor, but the exact opposite of what you stated. Petrie probably offered Hawes for Noah, and the Bulls said no!

Coming as someone who follows the Bulls closely, there was a fairly significant period of time where many Bulls fans bashed Paxton for drafting Noah over Hawes.
