Desmond Mason for Kenny Thomas Trade

Grant said that this "rumor" was false. But he says the Kings probably are actively looking to trade KT. I think I should also add that Kenny Thomas had his weekly radio show with Grant and Mike less than an hour later after these comments were made at the begining of the show.

Take from it what you want.

I also heard KT on the radio and he said there was also a player's meeting today. Maybe we might find a different Kings team tomorrow night.

Well something has to change because we are heading nowhere fast.

One can hope. But it also shows that the situation really is fairly serious. Team meetings are always a scary sign.

Wonder who called it? be nice to see somebody taking responsibility as a leader here.

Different how ?

Are they going to defend - NO
Is our bench going to outscore other benches - not in the next 20 games
Are they going to be more athletic - hell no

You might want to read my post again. I said "might" doesn't necessary mean it WILL be.

I HATE player's meetings. They always happen when things are going badly. If the "team meeting" doesn't work, someone usually get fired next!

Hopefully, this one will be productive and that will not ne neccessary for us.

BTW, I really think that we MUST win tomorrow night!

Anyone hear how this got out? I bet Petrie is not happy about it. Like Kenny T. needed more of a reason to be grumpy...

I am sure that hey let him know about it. May very well be why he is so out of sync. I am a little disappointed that they are giving up on Kenny already. He is a very talented player, he'll get it going.

I wonder if he went to management and asked to be traded???

Maybe...maybe not.

They know they've got problems. Maybe the new captain (SAR) called the meeting to try and get everyone on the same page.

I wouldn't read too much into it at this point in time.

I think that at this players meeting Mike Bibby is going to pass out the special "athletic" pills that he got from BALCO and then the team is going to magically turn into a rebounding defensive monster and then rip through the rest of the season on its way to the championship. So, in short, I think that this meeting is going to be very positive.

I think this team meeting is a very good thing.

We've got 5 players and 3 different agendas.

Group 1) The Elders >
This group is comprised of Bibby and Peja. They seem to be living in the past and running the offense that way. They don't seem to want to move on and adapt to a new philosophy of play and a new structure ... and to an extent: a new pecking order. So, instead of flow and order - we're getting selfishness and chaos. We're getting one-on-one play out of these players that don't play well like that. We're seeing them force the ball to the rim and it's turning out negatively.

Group 2) The I Got Somethign To Prove Camp >
This group is comprised of one Bonzi Wells. He's doing well, but he's also being a one man show. Last anyone checked - this isn't the Bonzi Wells show. He was picked up as a complimentary option ... not to lead the team in shots every game. He's looking for a way to fit in, but he's also doing his best "clog the lane and look out for only me" impression. That's never a good thing ... regardless of how talented you are.

Group 3) The I'm Just Fitting In Group >
This group is comprised of Shareef and Miller. They are spending so much effort "fitting in" that they aren't exterting their wills on the team and fully utilizing their talents. Instead, we see two extremely passive players that seem to be spending 90% of the time on the court trying to please the other 3 players with them. They are making some great passes and doing good things (especially Shareef) ... but we can see that there is a LOT more that can and should come from them. I'm watching Reef/Miller allow his teammates to grab the rebound instead of picking it up ... let them get the stat. I'm watching Miller/Rahim pass up good shots or wide open lanes to make that pass to the covered player ... because it'll make them happy.

We need to get EVERYONE on the same page.

RA said this team needs to focus on the post. RA has made Reef the Captain. I'm assuming that RA is signaling this is Reef's team on offense. That's all fine and dandy ... but if that's the case:
Group 1 has to realize that they need to let go of the past and accept the change. They need to realize this isn't "their" team and they need to focus the offense the way it is being geared.
Group 2 needs to realize that he isn't the man, but he's a MAJOR component ... especially in the post. He'll get his shots, so he doesn't need to shoot it every time he gets the ball. This isn't Memphis ... he'll get the ball back eventually.
Group 3 needs to realize that they need to quit being passive dorks. If this is going to be their team, then they need to quit being "Mr. Friendly" and start barking and demanding the ball. They need to start exerting their will. It doesn't mean they should stop passing, but they need to start being "THE MAN" and quit being the "la-dee-da" player that is about as threatening as a teddy bear.

Or if the direction is to keep with the Princeton offense we need to change it all up with GROUP 1-3 having different directives.

At least that's my take.

We need ONE GOAL. We need ONE PHILOSOPHY. We need ... ONE GROUP.

Rick Adelman doesn't name the captain. The team selects the captain. So don't read it as any kind of signal from Adelman.

It was revealed last night that Bibby and Corliss called the team meeting after they saw the 2 hour film session Coach Turner made for them.
