Nope.
Not buying it.
Cousins should have had 50 wins with these teammates.
Every year.

Well obviously his teammates all washed out of the league because Boogie failed to make them better at basketball!

Yup. I actually don't think that a lot of the players were bad in themselves, but the problem was they were starting for us where they should have been bench players. I still feel we could and should have won more than 30 games nonetheless but well... Reasons. In particular I'm thinking of the Westphal coached team with both Cuz and Evans. Thought that had promise but we fired Westphal and handed the reins over to Keith (not very) Smart. Then it was just downhill from there.
Look at the Clippers. Even with Blake and DeAndre out the are competitive. Yes CP3 is great and he is the best cheater in the NBA and all that. But they still have a great guard line with Crawford (7th in 3's in NBA history) and Reddick (He was ballin last night). Then they have a front line of Pierce, Mbah a Moute and Aldrich. Then coming off the bench is Johnson , Rivers and Prigioni. Those are all good veteran players except for maybe Rivers whose Dad is the Coach.
The Kings did not have a cast like that in those 30 win seasons.
Who did Hawks have? Who do raptors have? Dallas this year?
If cuz is so dominant why don't other players want to play here w him? U think Shaq wouldn't draw FAs?
Rondo is here because of him.
lol! Seriously gave me a good laughRondo is here because of him.
THat is such a terrible list overall and the little bit of talented pieces we did get around him that made some soft of sense, we gave up for nothing. Great work Kings!![]()
This is a good question. Grant Napear always talks about the Kings not being very good with or without cousins. But Cousins has never had any memorable teammates. It's baffling as to why Grant doesn't realize that, after calling games for so many years. I love Grant but he should stop this "Cousins is the scapegoat" mentality during rough stretches. I'm just glad Cousins is still sticking around considering he hasn't had complimentary players around him for all these years, until this year. Thank God for Vlade.
I'm sure the optimism was sky high. At least the fans have hope, even if they're delusional lol. I agree though, that the personnel was nothing to brag about all these years. It feels good to know we're finally turning this ship in the right direction.Fans don't realize it. You should look back at the old threads. The supposed "knowledgable" fans would be in this forum swearing up and down that X player is really good and has all star potential blah blah blah. Just go back and look at all the ridiculous optimism for the players while they were here. It's silly.

Except Rudy.True. Hindsight is always 20/20, but fans always tend to overrate their own players.
What's your point?

The player development aspect of this organization is terrible. Of course most of that falls on the prior regime since this current one has only failed to develop one top prospect, Ben McLemore. Makes it even more amazing that Boogie is what he is despite all the sins this organization has commited.
As I've mentioned I'm not even sure that's true.
I think the talent assessment/drafting of this franchise has been the terrible part. Not like our guys have gone elsewhere and blown up, at least since the Gerald Wallace days. We simply didn't draft anybody with any talent. Hence nothing to develop. Being broke and badly out of favor with agents, we could only sign middling near washed up vet FAs. A huge problem was that we did the same thing with the coaches. And to top it off our owners have been basketball ignoramuses that have pushed us to focus on the wrong things and play idiotic styles not suited to personnel.
As for talent evaluation: I don't think Petrie even wanted Cuz. Word was he kept leaning towards Monroe since he was more of a Princeton type. Maloofs might have talked him into the bigger name in Cousins to sell tickets faster. (Perhaps the one good Maloof thing during those years.)
During the tank years:
Good picks: Casspi, IT, Cuz, WCS
Okay-Solid Picks: Tyreke
Oops: Everything else
Omri and IT were lost due to clashes with coaches and GMs. Likely nearly lost Cuz to the same thing many times. So even when they get talent, they panic and throw it overboard.
I would argue that Tyreke was a good pick. Unless you are saying that it was a bad pick based on the fact that Curry, DeRozan, Holliday, and Jeff Teague were behind him. He is a career 17, 5, and 5 player.
