I assume your referring to Taj? The only way the Bulls imo trade Taj to us is if Derrick sustains another serious injury (god forbid for the poor guy), as long as they have hope that Derrick will return to form I don't see the Bulls trading Taj in particular when you consider Thibbs is going to run Gasol/Noah into the ground and both in particular Pau are somewhat injury prone. With the way Thibs coaches his starters other than Mike Dunleavey, I can see literally all the other 4 starters completely breaking down eventually later into the season, I mean Thibs was putting his starters in against the Timberwolves in the 4th quarter of preseason just so he could win a game.
 
how are we going to attempt to beat the jazz. that needs to be the question. we need to do something with our front court. JT and who starts ?

I assume it will be Hollins, the Jazz don't really have any stretch 4's they got Favors/Kantar/Gobert who are all 6'10 plus along with Trevor Booker who's a hustler and roughly 6'8 without much of a jump shot. Hopefully Landry can school/draw fouls on them around the paint area.

No. I'm referencing nothing more than ending the encumbrance on the pick, straight out, so that we can get back in the using future picks in trades business. Its already heading toward too late now. While you're terrible everybody makes dumb decisions and treats those picks like you'll still be terrible in 3 years. Once you start to show promise they all start projecting your future and the picks lose their punch.

Everything was on the verge of changing.

Now the longtime Kings observer in me can see us teetering on the edge on losing all of it in a depressing crush. The losers in the Kings uniform right now blow some more easy games, Houston crushes them on national TV, our record falls to such a degree that in the West the playoffs become just some distant fantasy again. The national TV audiences don't see any change, same old losers with what's his name that big temper tantrum guy out. Who cares. Cuz comes back off the long layoff, isn't himself, has some fugly fatigue ridden games, combined with our losing record his All Star hopes dim again. And by New Years we are dead again and half the people reading this rant just drift away and won't be seen or heard from for another year.

You're putting way too much stock in what other people think. Our destiny does not depend on national media opinions. All we have to do is win. Whether or not we would have won during this stretch, we'll still have to win when he comes back. So maybe this stretch costs us the playoffs this year. Big deal. So we'll the the darlings next year. I know you have a flair for the dramatic, but this is not nearly as big a deal as you're making it out to be. It won't affect our championship push in 3-5 years. As far as team confidence/chemistry goes, if our chemistry crumbles during a stretch like this without our main guy while some losses pile up, then these players were never the ones to take us to the promised land anyway.
 
Is there an update on the condition of Demarcus Cousins ? Really need to have him on the floor. It has become apparent that the team does not have enough talent on the floor to win consistently without the big man.
 
Old Henry Kaiser said "problems are opportunities in work cloths." This is a team in development from Owner to hot dog vendor. Coach Malone needs to learn how to win with out DMC on the floor. the team needs to learn how to play with out DMC, it's as simple at that. And like any other learning process it will likely be painful and unpleasant. The good news is that it is better learn this now early in a year where expectations were low to start with rather than late in a season where the big fella carried us the whole way.

I always see Internet Bulls fans cheering for the Kings when the Kings win, because Bulls fans are clever and ironic like that. At this point, I would rather they have it. The inability to trade first round picks has been hovering over this team for way too long at this point.

It's time for Malone to show his stuff and keep this team competitive even without their star. You see the likes of Thibodeau and Pop keeping their team competitive even without their stars for stretches. Its time to develop a system that we can rely on every game no matter who we plug in. In the long run, that's going to distinguish between the REAL championship contenders and just playoff teams.

Malone seem to be on a "competency watch" right now. The guy is certainly not perfect when it comes to x's and o's but he has won the hearts of the important players and that is a very necessary achievement. The guys like him. Boogie likes him. Just watch the defense and you'll see they are willing to work hard for him.

Cousins is uniquely important to this team as has been mentioned before. He is the #1 option on offense and he has been designated as the defensive anchor, whatever that means. Not many teams have one guy that is so important. When we miss Cousins, we miss the guts of the team and that is very difficult to make up for.

Malone doesn't need to prove anything more to me although he certainly needs to improve in a few areas in game management. The fact he is Vivek's choice and not PDA's might, and I say "might," be a bit of a problem. I don't think it's time to go hunting for another coach.

I think sometimes we can forget just how many good players teams like the Spurs and Bulls have. Also easy to forget is how long the teams coaching staff and players have been together. Pop is headed to the HOF and Thibs is the best Defensive Guru in the Association. Tim Duncan while near the end has had a storied career. He is the Big Fundamental for a reason.

Consider how many really good established veterans each team has then compare them to the Kings.

Consider the Bulls. If you take Rose from the Bulls they still have Noah, Gasol, Gibson, Hinrich, Dunleavy and Jimmy Butler. Add to that Snell, Brooks, Mohammed, Mirotic and McDermott that is still a solid team.

Then we have the Spurs. Minus Hall of Famer Duncan they still have Parker, Leonard, Ginobilli, Diaw, Belinelli and Splitter. Sprinkle in Bonner, Green, Mills, Joseph and Daye. Once again that is a solid team.

I think it is unfair and hasty to judge Malone at a point when his best player Boogie is under the weather for a couple weeks AND the Lead Assistant is out with an injury.

This sort of brings to mind the old "Kick him when he is down" saying. Were you saying this when the Kings were running the table:)

It is a long season and there is still time to see what we will see.

Lets look at what Malone is working with as Boogie replacements.

He's got size and no skill in Hollins, skill and no size in Landry, no skill or size in Evans (hustle and rebounding is all he brings), nothing in Nik, nothing in Ray, usually underperforming but coming around Sessions, Williams is hit or miss, Casspi is wildly inconsistent and always has been. JT completely lost his offense until last game. DC only fits with talent around him, although he is capable of stepping up the scoring. If Ben doesn't show up and score, where will it come from? Landry? Williams? Casspi?

What is there to replace Boogie? No one guy. It has to be a total team effort, but it starts with Ben to me on the scoring front at least. He's the only guy with the ability to score 15-20. I'll put that on malone and DC to at least make sure he gets shots tonight.

The frontline is a disaster though. You hope JT steps up again. But no one is capable of putting up a Boogie stat line.

It's time for the players to suck it up and have some pride. Malone went through the entire roster last game until landing on Williams. Players gotta play and act and play like they think they can win. But beyond getting Ben shots, what else can Malone do?

I think you guys are getting the wrong idea. I did not criticize him. I said its time for Malone to show his stuff and develop a system where we can weather the storm better. I actually think he can do it and thats why I mentioned this.

This is the next step in his coaching maturation. He has done well in taking a few steps this year. It is time for him to take the next step to show he belongs in the upper echelon of coaches in this league.

Also, you are referring to the recharged Bulls of this year. There were long stretches of time within the last few season that the Bulls really had not much. Before Gasol, Butler's rise, Mirotic, McD. Somehow everyone was scratching their head on how they still made the playoffs. I'm not saying Malone should be expected to be that good right away, but that is what we should be striving for.

I agree, Cuz's health comes first.

But man, talk about the most Kings thing ever. Team is looking promising for the first time in a LONG time, Rudy Gay signs an extension, Kings have a winning record vs a brutal schedule, DMC playing at an MVP level (and actually getting those praises from national media as well) and then BOOM.

Season ending injury? Multiple guys with long term injuries?

Nope, our best player, and maybe the most important player to his team in the entire NBA, catches freakin meningitis. that's a first
 
Well, it all depends where this "chatter" is coming from. Dave is close enough he might have heard something from someone who should know. If that's true, yep, this bug may have killed our season and Boogie's All Star bid simultaneously. Just a disaster.

On the other hand "chatter" might be nothing more than excited water cooler talk by speculating fans/media, in which case it means less than nothing.
 
Damn it. The info release from the doctors treating him said he would be out another week or 10 days. Now someone who is hearing chatter (in the doctor's locker room, CD?) throws this crap out. Let's have a little responsibility. The medical news has come from the medical people a whole day ago.

I said awhile ago that neither Malone or that Ham guy were doctors and we should question what they say about Boogie's health. Malone never said anything much to his credit. CD is not a doctor and I doubt this chatter came from the treating doctors. If CD is correct, it's just a ****ing guess.

given the nature of viral meningitis, in that it can be caused by any number of different viruses that just somehow get stuck in the brain/spine, I would think that would be hard.

I am sticking with my put Boogie in a bubble idea though. And any more cute shots with his kids until they have passed through their carrier monkey stage, let's say by about age 25 or so, should be taken with him in a hazmat suit.

I like this if only because it calmed my anger. There are a lot of causes of viral meningitis including a lot of childhood diseases like measles and mumps. Who knows? Maybe he got it from kids. The thing is "who knows?' Nobody knows.

If it was a source who's "in the know", then why wouldn't CD clarify that? He'd just have to say something along the lines of "a source who's a higher-up in the organization and would know, thinks Cuz being out until Jan is a legit possibility" or something of that nature.

But "chatter"? Sounds to me like a guy who likes to hear himself speak, or rather read reactions to his tweets, or maybe even troll to get more people calling into his radio show to talk about it.

CD has posted stuff like this before on twitter and after he gets the uproar he's going for, he falls back on the "well this is just my opinion" explanation.
