Any thoughts? Anyone scared? Any believers?

Will the world end?
Will we all die?

Will there be any form of life beyond this point?

Ha ha! I'll jump on. I am holding out hope that the world does end in 2012, that way, I can justify not paying my bills ever again. Which is what I plan to do when my employer of 7 years lays me off in 2 months.;)

Seriously, I think that we will all wake up on 12/22/2012 with one **** of a hangover, in a deeply screwed up country (If we're lucky enough to have not yet imploded from crazy debt).

Not a believer. Not scared in the least. There's no scientific basis for any of it, so what's to worry about? I was far more concerned that the LHC would violently demonstrate that our universe exists in a false vacuum than I am about anything happening in 2012. I don't think the Mayans are even concerned about 2012, as it's not the end of the world to them, but the end of an old cycle and a start of a new one.

Hey, maybe the LHC has something to do with it. As you can tell by my avatar, I'm fascinated by that ginormous black hole generator.

Who's right? Einstein or Hawking? I hope like he** it's Hawking.

Yeah thats what I am thinking as well.....I mean, look at all of the Y2K hype that took place before the calendar hit the big 2000; All hype, nothing happened. Was i scared? No, not really.

I think this is a problem with society as a whole, and that is we like to bring forth such ideas to scare the general public. And a lot of it, as you say above, is just speculation. I mean, there is not really a clear cut firm scientific basis for everything thats out there. And sometimes I do feel that these so-called "scientists" just take a bunch of crap and put it together and say "hey look what i just found out. now are you scared or not?" and what they put out there doesnt even make sense most of the time...

The reason I bring this up is that its been hanging out there for a while now, this whole 2012 thing, and I am watching a History Channel Documentary about it at the moment.

Well, I'll celebrate my ** birthday on 12/02/2012, which, honestly, I think will be the most important thing to occur that month, except for Britney Spears' birthday (12/02 as well), obviously.

Other than that, I'm with Ryan on the hangover thing.
