The Pistons have always been twitchy on the whole intensity thing (Sheed in particular). One of the reasons why I have never bought into them as a truly fearsome team. Just lazy mentally and can't be bothered to bring their A games every night. They got pounded by the Knicks a few nights back too. If I were a fan of theirs it would really annoy me.
Do You think that there is the chance that our "big heads" take this game the wrong way and suddenly think that we are making a PO push and just keep the status quo killing this season and the next ?
I hope not. That could be the downside to the Maloofs attending the game tonight, tho.Do You think that there is the chance that our "big heads" take this game the wrong way and suddenly think that we are making a PO push and just keep the status quo killing this season and the next ?
i honestly think that reggie won't allow anything like that
Yes, I'm aware this probably doesn't merit its own thread but how good was it NOT to hear that stupid chant??

I think the big heads operate on a completely delusional 1 victory > 3 losses scale where they desperately grasp at anything positive as an excuse to ignore all the negatives. So yes, anything is possible.
The hope on the other hand would stem from this: in 04-05 Geoff blew up a very good Kings team that had about the 5th or 6th best record in the league. And he blew it up midseason anyway with the Christie and Webber trades, presumably on the theory that we were good, but no longer good enough to win a title. If you are willing to blow up what was looking to be a 50+ win team, surely you should be willing to blow up a losing squad as well. Right? Right??
Of course I realize I just made an argument based on logic and reason, so it may or may not actually apply to our front office.

In theory.
But I've always been of the assumption that those moves had more to do with the Maloofs' emotions than with Petrie's business decisions.
Webber trade I'll never understand. Now Christie I loved as a player and what he brought to the team but, we was supposed to be getting another outside threat that could also drive and score and wasn't a liabilty on offense. Instead we got Cuttino's twin brother or something.
I believe the Webber trade happened when we were on a losing streak. The worst streak since the second year Webber was with us. Losing 7 out of 10 or something right before the deadline.
True but Webber was really almost playing at an all-star level. It was rather apparent that CWebb was on the block for quite awhile after all was said and done. Plus if losing 7 out of 10 was a factor, how come we are still sitting in the same spot now?
Too bad webber never actually posted up, you mean high post right?I think the Maloofs panicked. Even though Webb was playing well there were still noticeable knee issues, and loss of lateral quickness. I was for the trade as well, but of course since have said I was wrong. Webb still could have gave us leadership, and passing out of the post.
