Darrell Arthur: Traded 3 Times on Draft Night

All-Star
This has to be one of the weirdest draft night experiences in history:

Memphis also traded the rights to Syracuse forward Donte Greene, the No. 28 pick, in exchange for the rights to Darrell Arthur, who was picked 27th and traded three times. New Orleans dealt his rights to Portland, which then traded him to Houston. The Rockets then traded his rights to Memphis early Friday morning.

Am i reading that right? Did he get traded from Memphis, then traded 2 more times which ended with him being back in Memphis? That summary is confusing.

He was officially picked by New Orleans, who was picking for Portland (trade #1). Portland traded his rights to Houston (#2). Houston dealt him to Memphis (#3). So now he's with Memphis.

So now Portland has Nicholas Batum. That is just stupid.

Their lineup this year
Bayless/Blake/Rodriguez
Fernandez/Batum
Roy/Webster
Aldridge/Outlaw
Oden/Pryzbilla
i'm forgetting a few but yeah thats the gist of it

Has to be an awesome time to be a Portland fan, eh? They have an incredible front office and an owner that isn't shy about shelling out cash when needed to buy picks or buyout a player.

Consider they have gone from a roster in the '05-'06 season that consisted of....

PG: Sebastian Telfair, Steve Blake, Jarrett Jack
SG: Martell Webster, Juan Dixon, Sergei Monia
SF: Darius Miles, Ruben Patterson, Viktor Khryapa
PF: Zach Randolph, Travis Outlaw
C: Theo Ratliff, Joel Przybilla, Brian Skinner, Ha Seung-Jin

...to a likely roster this year of:

PG: Jerryd Bayless, Steve Blake, Sergio Rodriguez [Petteri Koponen]
SG: Brandon Roy, Rudy Fernandez
SF: Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster, Nicolas Batum
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge, Channing Frye, Ike Diogu
C: Greg Oden, Joel Przybilla, Raef LaFrentz [Joel Freeland]

Haha nice one. But if we followed the whole process by the time we get them the PFs would have retired.

I felt bad for the kid sitting there with his Ma. Listening to the commentators explain that a rumored kidney ailment was the cause of his slipping. Normally I do not feel for slipping players on draft night because I feel that regardless of who drafts you, you should feel blessed not entitled to go where you want to go.

But this kid was slipping because of rumor mongering, and he looked so humbled by the situation.:(
