So overwhelmingly Dame is getting love on twitter. Unbelievable imho. People wanted Zion over Scoot and matching salaries so they could make a run with Dame. I hope Scoot transcends Lillard and makes fools out of all of them.Dame just doing the blazers a solid and making himself the villain lol
Blazers’ Joe Cronin: “We have been clear that we want Dame here but he notified us today he wants out and he’d prefer to play someplace else. What has not changed for us is that we’re committed to winning, and we are going to do what’s best for the team in pursuit of that goal.”

Front offices talking to Portland today were left with impression that GM Joe Cronin is pursuing a star-level return package for Damian Lillard – and that Cronin plans to look well beyond the Miami Heat to find one. https://t.co/9NWtJN9JLm

With trade conversations that would send Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat, Portland has the goal of finding a third team for Tyler Herro, league sources told @YahooSports.

If I'm Portland my ask is Scottie Barnes, Christian Koloko and two firsts. How about Toronto for OG and a pick or two
If I'm Portland my ask is Scottie Barnes, Christian Koloko and two firsts.
They might actually be close to having a team with that deal.
It would honestly give Toronto the team a lot of Blazers fans were jizzing their pants over in a trade pick 3 scenario, and it would give Portland a squad in 3-5 years time with a Scoot-Sharpe-Barnes-Grant core and Koloko instantly the second best big after the players they let go.I don’t think Toronto would trade Barnes but
Dame
Dick
OG
Siakam
Poeltl
That’s a good 5.
What a giant FU after that Grant contract.
he's not though, twitter is defending this guy to the end. lolLiterally after he said he wanted Grant too.
Just went from his city's move beloved star to probably the most hated overnight. Wild.
This is so dumb btw, to pursue a star level return instead of not just trying to get draft capitol and expirings n sensible things.. Portland has the inside track to the best tank next season if ya ask me.. They cant possibly keep their heads above water out in this western conference without Dame.. No single star will save them other than like Joel Embiid which isnt ever gonna happen.Front offices talking to Portland today were left with impression that GM Joe Cronin is pursuing a star-level return package for Damian Lillard – and that Cronin plans to look well beyond the Miami Heat to find one. https://t.co/9NWtJN9JLm

soooo they spent 160 million on Grant and are looking for a star to help them win now? I hear Harden is available.
I think you can look at that like they want a star now vs. a star tomorrow package. I guess I assumed the latter, which is why I was thinking someone like Scottie Barnes level, a 2nd or 3rd year guy who might get the designated rookie extension a year or two from now and is on the Scoot/Sharpe timeline. This is so dumb btw, to pursue a star level return instead of not just trying to get draft capitol and expirings n sensible things.. The move is just go absolute full rebuild mode this season n then you look to ramp the rebuild up quickly after that.
There is no shortage of teams that would love to land Damian Lillard, with Philly, the Clippers and Utah known to be among the many. But the Blazers star wants to go to Miami. So...what will Blazers GM Joe Cronin do?

Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler relayed to the team weeks ago that Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard should be the No. 1 target this offseason, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport.

Mitchell, Huerter, 2 FTP's, and the right to the "Beam" next year for Dame?
The Trail Blazers do not plan to cooperate with Damian Lillard on his trade request to the Heat, per @wojespn:

- Portland “open for business everywhere in the league” on trading Lillard.

It’s in my blood to take the high road. I’d love to hear what fans are turning on… have I mislead them? Or anyone ? Fill me in https://t.co/rkn7irDlpo

There will not be an All Star caliber player that requests a trade in a few years that says “I was leaning LA or Miami but I really like the way Portland handled the Dame situation. I demand to become a Trailblazer.”
— Russillo (@ryenarussillo) July 3, 2023
How did we go from “Dame just wants a chance to contend” to “Dame only wants to play for Miami” in a matter of two weeks???

The narrative with my peers up here is that Dame was loyal, team failed him, they owe him whatever he asks but Russillo and Trysta have it right. Team has nothing to gain by acquiescing to Dame and no matter how coy Dame is being (yesterday he opened a "what did I do wrong" dialogue) he went from just get me the pieces to demanding a trade to one destination.
Also maybe that destination has tampered.

there's a rumor he informed Cronin on Monday but I'm inclined to believe they wouldn't have paid Grant like that if they knew. And it seemed Dame was still recruiting Dray during this period, so likely Dame somehow thought he could lure FAs to Portland. They're a worse destination than we are historically. They poached Brian Grant from us in the 90s and their only other notable signing in FA like pretty much ever is Evan Turner. And Dame gave the franchise a nice little F U on the way out by getting his boy Grant paid. I'm buying the idea that Dame waited for his bud to get the $$$ and then was like oh yeah, by the way, lol.
