Dallas/Phoenix game 6

I just came back from greeting the team @ the airport. I kid you not there must have been 3,000 - 5,000 fans lining up waiting for the team plane when it landed 2 AM our time. (Pretty safe to say this isn't just a Dallas Cowboys town anymore)

It was really cool - the plane looked like it was going to land then out of nowhere it started ascending again...they did a fly by for the fans! When they got out Avery and Dirk and the rest of the team came out, greeted the fans, waved that trophy high in the air (it's very bright), and grabbed the mic and thanked us.

So happy to be a Mavs fan tonight. Say what you want about Cuban - yes he says things that even Mavs fans can cringe about - but this is all his doing. Do you know how happy I used to be when we would win over 15+ games a year?! I never thought in my lifetime they'd even make it to the finals...I never thought I'd be able to do what I did just know...

I'm glad I'm wrong!

mavsman, while I will not support the Mavs in the Finals, I am very happy for you and all other Mavs fans tonight. You all must be ecstatic at finally reaching the Big Show.

p.s. You all should be commended in your show of support for your team. WTG!

The Mavs may be good but under no circumstances can I root for them (unless they play lakers:D). Much as I hate to do it, I have to root for Wade,Zo and JWill. GO HEAT! Bring it back to the East!

You know, I've been a lurker on this board for a long time and I just wanted to say I'm a bit disappointed.

If the Kings were in the Finals I would be supporting them.

I figured you guys would react the same.

Mavs just wouldn't be denied against the Suns. Dirk was the best player on the floor for either team, and it showed in the third quarter when he brought the Mavs back from the big deficit. I was a little disappointed in Nash's tentativeness to take jump shots in the third quarter when he had open looks, but it didn't appear that any Sun really wanted to shoot the ball in that third and fourth quarter.

The Suns will be an interesting team to watch next year with Amare back (and I wonder how far Amare will be back).

Meanwhile, at least a new franchise will win a title this year. I think the Mavs have the best player on the floor throughout these playoffs, although DWade has been a close second.

I'm in the Mavs camp for the Finals, but some on this board aren't fans of Cuban, some aren't fans of Texas, and there may be a bit of animosity remaining from the 2003 playoffs (the year the Kings were supposed to win it all until CWebb injured his knee in the AAC).

As I've mentioned before, my distaste for the Mavericks is a hundred percent about Cuban, and nobody else.

I don't want to support either of these teams; in fact, I'm still holding out hope that I'll be named Emporer of the Universe, so that I can declare the NBA Finals to be cancelled, due to my not being able to stand either team... howe'er, comma, if I were being held at gunpoint and *had* to root for a team, it would be the Mavericks: when you come down to it, I have about eleven reasons to root against Miami, and only one to root against Dallas.

Besides which, Shaquille O'Neal has a permanent seat reserved as my #2 most hated NBA player, behind only FSM... and the only way that someone could even catch up with Shaq is if they were to drop trou at center court of ARCO and take a dump on the Kings logo.

So... go Mavs... I guess...

Mark Cuban is a terrific owner. He's arrogant as all hell, but he treats his people well, and he's meant everything to your ballclub. He doesn't delude the fans (unlike some owners), and he's always honest and forthright about his opinions (even if he may be incredibly defensive at times), and even has a blog to communicate with his fans. I still remember when everyone was making him out to be an evil warlord for letting Steve Nash go to the Suns and become MVP of the league. Despite this, Cuban remained steadfastly confident in his team, and proclaimed that they liked their plan and they were sticking to it. The guy is a true maverick in every sense of the word, so it's so appropriate that this is the franchise he's leading. Without him, you guys would still be 15-67 stockpiling lottery picks. I liked him when he entered the league, and I'm liking him more and more each day. Go Mavs, and go Mark Cuban.
