If Kobe said "I'm glad Bynum laid that sucker out" yes, he would have gotten a fine. No question. Not even Artest would be dumb enough to say anything but apologize after such an obvious dirty hit.
I never said Kobe told Bynum to go lay out JJ, but Kobe, Fish, and co. have been notoriously dirty players, same as guys like Bowen. Not sure why you feel so compelled to defend a team that has taken THREE obvious and unjustifiable flagrant cheap shots throughout this series.
Well of course, but if he said "He was just sticking up for the team in frustration and maybe took things to far but no big deal" nothing would be done. It's not like he was forced to disapprove, is what I think Vlade is saying. He could no-comment or downplay it, to his credit he chose to address it.

I'll give you the answer you're looking for, and I won't deflect or equivocate, like others have: hell yes, I would think it was wrong if it was any other team. But it wasn't; it was the gd lakers. So... Ha ha! To paraphrase Carl Lee Hailey, yes they deserve to get run up, and I hope they burn in hell!

You've been posting here for quite some time, Vlade4GM, and I can't help but notice, in your posting history, how you only "like to play devil's advocate" when it comes to the gd lakers. It seems almost conspicuously convenient.

I think he's a Kobe fan and a mild laker fan and I think he took a liking to the kings back in their glory years and it kinda stuck. I don't think he's that big of a fan of either team but I think he's more of a kings fan.

I didn't think the Mavs were running up the score. The Lakers had their starters in and were still playing hard... you don't let up on Kobe Bryant & Co. until they've run up the white flag (or, apparently, in the case of the Lakers -- started throwing cheap shots).

Artest was already suspended for a cheap shot. So yes it appears to be a team wide thing. Fisher has set some dirty screens too and Kobe has been suspended for moving under jump shooters who land on his feet.

"Running up the score" is a complete misnomer in my opinion. You're supposed to sore as many points as possible. That game is 48 minutes. You don't stop trying to score just because the other team is playing like crap.
This. Remember the Kings in Chicago a while back? Remember the 20 point lead of the Lakers we wiped out in the last game of the season? Leads can disappear. You don't let up. I wish they would have beat the Lakers by 60.

im not going to lie, I wanted to see phil jackson and the lakers get one last victory and make history with a three-peat. I dont know. I dont completely hate the lakers like a lot of people around this area and revel in watching them get blown out like that. And to tell you guys the truth, it actually irks me a little when i read about how much people hate them and were glad to see them get kicked while they were down like that. And then people accusing other people of being lakers fans like its a crime or something. I know theyre our rivals and everything but still. I dont think it makes me any less of a kings fan if i cheer for any other team or even our rivals once in a while.

IIRC, the Mavs even had a shotclock violation towards the end (though that may have been LA, I'm fuzzy on it). In any case, this isn't football. The only way to get the clock to wind down is wait 15 seconds, run a play, and go back on D. Can't exactly punt the ball.

Well, you're welcome to say that, but if that's what you really believe, then I'd like you to please direct me to the last post you made where you played devil's advocate to the Bucks, or the Timberwolves, or the Raptors, or the Bobcats?

I'm a Kobe fan, ex-Lakers fan (stopped being one around 96 or 97), a somewhat more than moderate Kings fan, and a Lakers observer. I don't know if that makes me a mild Lakers fan, but even if it did, BFD. I'm generally an NBA fan, and I primarily follow and root for the Kings.

I was talking of subjects in general, but I'm unaware of a strong anti-raptors/wolves/cats sentiment on this board. Still, I'm more than willing to admit that I'll probably be more likely to play devil's advocate about the Lakers because I'm more exposed to Lakers fans and their perspectives. My parents are Lakers fan, and so are quite a few of my friends.
