D-League possibilities for Kings

See today where Jerome Jordan of the Reno D-League team is listed as the second best prospect in the league. A true 7-footer, 60% FG, 2.7 BPG, etc. Just up the road and cheap. Could be bench help and see what he does now vs NBA bigs. But, they don't use Honeycutt either as if they are set with a decent team....:(

We could really use a guy like this to pair with Cuz 10-15 min a game. He even shoots a good percentage from the FT line. I doubt the Kings would sign him though. That would just cost the Magoofs more money.

My sense is that the Kings management will do NOTHING in terms of trades, or anything that will cost money, until new ownership is firmly in place. Why would they? They have no reason to invest. So I think it's logical to assume no changes at all, including any movements before the trade deadline, until the new ownership is firmly in place.

I talked about Jordan at summer league. He played very well there, and I knew he was a freeagent. He's always been a shotblocker, but he's added some offense to his game the last couple of years. As far as money goes, we have this thing in the NBA called the 10 day tryout. So signing him to a tryout contract would be dirt cheap and a chance to see if he's worth anything more than that. I believe you can sign him up to three times, but after the third time you have ot extend a full contract for the rest of the year. I could be off by one tryout, but I'm sure the Capt will correct me if I'm wrong.

The point is, it wouldn't cost very much to find out if he's someone were interested in. Henry Sims is another big I'd be interested in thats been playing well in the D-League.

You rang?

Actually, a team can only sign the same player to two ten-day contracts. The third time it has to be for the remainder of the season.

We can always sign Bibby he has to be more productive than Brooks right?
Jokes.

Why did we not sign Twill he "fit" better than about 3/4 of our roster.
Truth.

I know it's a joke, but I personally wouldn't mind seeing Bibby sitting on the end of the bench. With our young PG's, they could use a mentor who has some experience with winning basketball. He's not going to add anything to the team, but he could speed up the delayed development of Jimmer and IT.

But I don't see the Magoofs ponying up even for a couple of 10 day contracts. That would still cost them money and they have absolutely zero incentive to invest even a nickel more in this franchise. That's why I don't see it happening.

Thanks Capt! I sort of thought it was that, but I wasn't sure. I knew the 3rd time was a key, but couldn't remember it was a freebee or it was permanent!

You could be right. I don't have a crystal ball, so I have no idea what interest they have left. But if George is totally running the show, I'd say your dead on!

It's really too bad because this Jordan kid could probably get some meaningful minutes with us and actually help us out.

Anyone interested in seeing Jordan play, he's about to start in the D-League all star game right now on NBA TV!
