I don't see what's wrong with his post. Maybe you misread it as I did the first time. He's saying the Lakers were hoping Cousins would eventually force his way out.

The Lakers always have something that allows them to attract those chasing glitz and glamour, even without assets, or cap space, even while having to deal with super inflated egos and wild dysfunction and discord (in that market it translates to a minor second story, with the main focus being on how they will make ALL THESE PERSONALITIES work together and where they should plan the parade route) They have a cache, built on years past, as winners, and bright lights, big city (ok, I just threw up a little in my mouth) and attract those seeking a easy way to the top. IMO, DeMarcus has never sought the easy way, nor has he sought glitz and glamour, what he HAS sought is RESPECT, and to WIN........ the same things WE seek. He signed the extension with us, based, not on our current situation or on past glory, but on promises of loyalty returned, of the opportunity to lead us to glory. He has never taken 'the easy way' If he is like most loyal people, what he craves is a return on that loyalty, a sense that your sacrifices are appreciated, a feeling of camaraderie, and that all your blood, sweat and tears are not being wasted on those who have no loyalty themselves.
It's been a rather bumpy road this last year in those respects. Hell, most of us are dazed and confused as to who to trust, who is a snake, what our future is. Those that have been here forever trust Vlade, we have a history with him, we understand he really IS genuine, upfront, a speaker of truth. I hope DeMarcus gets to know him and understand this. I hope that it is not too late for the warmth and honesty that is Vlade to undo the years of duplicity.
We need Vlade to reach Boogie, we need Boogie to understand how much we do appreciate him here, and that our entire future hangs on his buy in, on his willingness to give loyalty one last go.

As I mentioned previously, the Lakers have already been marketing Russell as their future. DMC is great, but there is more then one way to get them back to contention.
No legitimate FO is going to continue making their moves hoping to make a trade with a team that already said no very clearly.
I am still hoping you are right that our 24 year-old hero is that loyal to the Kings. Sorry if I scared you to death with the possibility of Cousins divorcing you. I myself would be very upset and probably won't be able to forgive Cousins for leaving our seemingly hopeless team. Right now, he seems like our only hope. But I realized, if it happens, life must go on with or without Cousins drama just like Cleveland Cavaliers fans lived theirs when Lebron left.
I really hope you are right about what you see in Cousins. My only take is a lot of people act and say what is right and politically correct when in front of camera and numerous microphones. Understandably because this is the world of sports and entertainment. I really wonder what they really think when they are home with their family.
That was before when teams won't even touch Cousins with a ten feet pole. But things have changed now. Cousins have gone a long way with hard work in his development. And Kobe retiring soon? I don't know how a 24 year-old with a very good agent (Fegan) can pass on this opportunity.
When you are in-demand, you change your perspective, and you do what you have to do depending on your needs. Oh hell yeah, I would even do a Lebron thing - blame everything to the franchise. Who is a saint these days afterall?
I really wish Cousins can sacrifice a little bit of his future for the sake of the team - as Vlade wants him to do.

Believe me. Lakers has a shot. Maybe not now, but God only knows when. Lakers are not a dumb organization. They know the value of Cousins. Like I mentioned before, who is Russell, Randel, or Clarkson compared to Cousins?
This will all boil down on what Cousins and his family decided to do.

I actually love your opinion more than mine in this case. And I really hope you are right on your assessment of the situation.
Our team is not hopeless with Cousins on the team. He is actually our only hope for now. It will be very devastating to the franchise, a big set-back, and especially to fans like you if he leaves. Who knows what fans like you (who thinks he knows how Cousins thinks like as if you are his wife or mother) will do if he leaves. And I hope he realize that.
Sometimes, celebrities like Cousins have to sacrifice. This is one of those times.

Stephen Curry and the GSW loved Mark Jackson. Rose and Noah and the Bulls loved coach Thibs. These are winning coaches and the coaching change was met with professionalism and without much drama by their Stars. It was the media who keeps maligning the franchise and fans bought-in justifying Cousins with all the reasons to leave - my worst fear when fans in this board continuously put down the unfirable Vivek and the FO for firing Malone.
Cousins is fully supported by Vivek/FO even upto now when Fegan is creating a lot of unnecessary noises. Vivek/FO were able to bring in Gay, Collison against all odds (if it is true nobody with a big name wants to play in Sacramento). Maybe it was wrong for coach Karl to ask for commitment from his number one player. But this is one of the things a coach normally do. It looks like the Lebron thing all over again, except that Lebron is a native of Ohio which pretty much makes it more painful for the Cleveland's fans.
Is it too much to ask Cousins to finish his current contract in Sacramento? Sacramento drafted him anyways and forget whatever petty reasons in the past that makes him want to leave. Vlade is in-charge now.
Also, is it too much to forget the endless advantage/glit and glamour/endorsements the Lakers team can give him, especially now that Kobe will be clearly be gone? Maybe not. But I really hope Cousins is the nice loyal guy we think he is and he will not succumb to temptation.

I don't remember Cousins asking for a trade. What that sounded like to me is his agent stirring the pot to push the trade talks....never once have I've seen any comments made or any displeasure voiced by Cousins himself to leave Sacramento. He said it from the get go, he is loyal...he wants to turn this thing around.
The clock is ticking and it has to start this season...he has three years remaining on his contract after that so I would say he is here at least until then.

Look, guys - I don't see why anyone is even responding to Prince_XY by now, but let's not kid ourselves:
Dan Fegan isn't going rogue, behind Demarcus' back, and doing all this crap just for himself.
He fully has Demarcus' approval to be stirring crap up, as a direct message/assault on the Kings' leadership.
Demarcus could call his dog off at a moment's notice, if he wanted.
It may be panacea to think Demarcus is all cuddly-wuddly about playing in Sac, but it's clear to anyone looking at it that he has had enough, and has released his hounds on the Kings FO and ownership, giving full warning that he is done with this buffoonery and can make them trade him if he wants.
I think this whole thing is probably a power play - it's an ugly, rub-your-nose-in-it ordeal to teach the ownership that superstar athletes are not to be ****ed with or treated like the hired help that Vivek and Maloofs have treated them as.
(BTW - Napear is full of crap saying they've kissed his ass since day 1 - not in the areas that matter (establishing a winner)).
They have jerked Demarcus around since the day he got here, and forced him to take the blame for their incompetence and their sheer willingness to lose.

They have deliberately fielded losing teams all 5 years he's been here, and last year's purposeful sabotage was the most blatant yet.
After they fired Malone over his disapproval (I'm sure he was told it was happening, they just didn't tell him exactly when it happened, hence his Twitter comments and their refuting it), he had it with the franchise and has been on active self-preservation mode ever since.
I fear he may never get back to where he was before.
(The one thing I'd love to know is : what coach did HE want brought in after Malone? Who would he have happily played for?)
I also wonder if this dust-up right before the draft may have happened because Cousins heard they were going to draft someone other than WCS. Despite the obvious coincidence of timing, I'm not saying he would cause all this personal ruckus just to get a running-mate he thinks is a good fit, I'm just throwing it out as a possibility. BTW - all Fegan's leaked info probably isn't a lie - Cousins and Karl probably DON'T see eye-to-eye, but they also probably aren't little babies that can't look past this and work with each other, unless Cousins wants to make it seem like they can't to apply pressure.
(I think Cousins is DONE with having to play with JT as his side-kick. Countless faces after JT blows perfect passes and easy plays tells me this)

I liked this post for the first part,
blaming it all on Fegan as if he does what he wants and tries to do those things against Cousins will is ridiculous. Cousins has his share of causing some of those problems and yet everybody tries to blame everyone not named Cousins.
It's a power play by Cousins- you can like it or hate it, but it is what it is.

Actually what the FO needed to do was kick rocks. And they did. PDA/Mullin were effing terrible. It's criminal what they did to this franchise.
Vlade has already shown leadership and grace under pressure. If he can evaluate talent and make good decisions (he talks the talk), then we have us a helluva good start in rebuilding the FO.
Vlade was part of the last golden era, let's see if he can usher in another.

I was actually answering a question about our FO on Reddit the other day, and I started thinking...did Mullin do anything positive while he was here? I'm willing to give PDA credit for a few things here and there, but Mullin? It seems like all he did was screw things up that were working.

Amazing the comments section. Laker fans barely want to give up Russell, and most definitely DO NOT want to give up Russell, Randle, Clarkson plus picks. They think DMC is "our head case - our problem". Those fans would probably be shocked if they saw this board and our sentiments about DMC.
