But if you must insist on using stats, then you can't ignore the fact that he hasn't won 30 games in this league. You just can't.
You absolutely can.
In fact you even wrote the proposition incorrectly.
The SACRAMENTO KINGS have never won 30 games since Cousins has been in the league.
Do we have to go through the full littany of unemployed players, coaches and GMs, slimy owners etc. yet again?
Did you know that in the 6 years since Boogie entered the league his top 2 starting teammates have been Jason Thompson (291 starts) and Ben McLemore (187 starts). Of course since leaving at the end of last year JT is now on his 3rd team and I don't think has started a game. Ben would be lucky to be treated so well outside of Sac.
Meanwhile over that same 6 year period Blake Griffin's top 2 starting teammates have been Deandre Jordan (439) and Chris Paul (332). Any theories as to how the miniscule gap in talent there might impact W/L records?
Other stalwarts in Boogie's Top 10 starting teammate list include John Salmons (112 starts), Marcus Thornton (108), Omri Casspi (66) and Beno Udrih (64). Cuz essentially has been given 2 decent, not world beating, just decent, teammates each season after his rookie season. No All Stars. But a Reke/IT (which was a bad mismatched pairing), then IT/Rudy, then Rudy/Collison (weaker), then Rudy/Rondo. And to top it off the coaches have been horrible mismatches, the owners have been idiots sabotaging the team etc.
Cousins Top 10 Starting Teammates, and How Many Starts They Have Had Since Leaving
Thompson -- 2 starts in 30 games
McLemore -- N/A
Gay -- N/A
Evans -- 123 starts in 176 games
Thomas -- 63 in 132 games
Salmons -- 0 starts in 81 games.
Thornton -- 7 starts in 121 games.
Casspi -- 38 starts in 179 games.
Udrih -- 38 starts in 289 games
Rondo -- N/A
So as you can see, Boogie has truly been holding back a pack of world beaters. Once they got loose of this place, man, lighting the league on fire I tell ya. Let alone future All Stars like Chuck Hayes, Donte Green, Ray McCallum etc. etc. Once all the guys Boogie has suppressed hit the open market man its a feeding frenzy as teams fall over themselves desperate to start them and guarantee their playoff runs.
Its an immensely poor argument that Grant makes again and again. He doesn't care because he's a crap with an agenda. Its not about analysis, just opportunism for him. Either that or he's fundamentally a stupid man not qualified to spit shine my wingtips. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is just dishonest and blinded by personal biases.
