PORTLAND, Ore. — The NBA is looking into a postgame confrontation between Sacramento Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins and broadcaster Sean Elliott that took place on the Sleep Train Arena court after the Spurs’ 97-86 victory in Sacramento on Friday.

Elliott, the former Spurs star who serves as analyst on the locally produced telecasts of Spurs games, criticized Cousins for “talking trash” about Spurs captain Tim Duncan during the fourth quarter.

Well as long as Big Cuz didnt threaten him or put his hands on him, NBA should just stay out of it. Yes I understand why there are rules for Refferees, but since when cant sports players, broadcasters, fans cant verbally disagree over their opinions or talk smack with each other? If Sean cant take it then he has no business sayin it.

Not sure what there is to "look into". Elliot isn't a fan, nor a ref.

Cuz however needs to settle down and focus here.

Talking trash to the greatest PF of all time, who happens to be a humble gentleman, is not a good look. Show respect. I commend Sean Elliot for sticking up for Timmy.

Oh good grief.

Poor little Timmy got his feelings hurt and big bad Sean Elliot had to stick up for him? Give me a freaking break.

There is NOTHING wrong with someone talking trash. Why should Duncan be exempt? The idea that Sean Elliot thinks he has a right to stick his nose into it is totally ridiculous IMHO. I'm pretty sure Duncan didn't look to Elliot for support.

I do agree with Bricklayer that Boogie needs to focus on what's important but saying he did anything worthy of NBA intervention is delusional.

I don't know if you know this but Timmy D also likes to complain to refs and have a pouty face.

geezus, what a non-story. when did everyone in the nba get so sensitive? players talk trash. that's not a new thing. cuz has to learn to moderate his competitive streak, though, because it seems many around the league are just looking to bait him into making a mistake. i feel bad for the kid. he's got some maturity issues to work out, but he's still only 22 years old, and he shouldn't have to compete with a nightly bullseye painted across his jersey...

I can't stand Elliot and agree that trash talking is part of the game but this is absurd behavior from cousins and something the team needs to address.

Much Ado about nothing. Players talk trash to each other all the time. Its known that one of the players Cuz looks up to is Duncan. The other is Paul Gasol. I suspect this has more to do with Elliot than it does either Duncan or Cousins. If you watched the game closely, both were talking to one another, and at times laughing with one another throughout the game. Its part of the game folks. Larry Bird was one of the biggest trash talkers in the history of the game. Its called one upsmenship!

The trash talking is no big deal and Elliot is a jack@$$, but cousins returning to confront a color commentator is a big deal. He needs to get his emotions under control.

are u ****ing serious. what a joke. might as well not even waste my time watching tonights game now

Holy s***.

One thought is the NBA is becoming too damn soft. I don't care about trash talk within a game. Not at all. It's part of the game.

The other is none of us actually saw what happened between the two and don't know how bad it might have been. I did read Cuz was still yelling at Elliot even after Elliot walked off.

Bottom line though, Cuz needs to get a handle on his emotions. Why risk it and even approach Elliot after a game? You can't let tv announcers get to you.

So you know what happened? I would be interested in the details of the confrontation.

the Spurs announcer was completely ripping Cousins in the 4th quarter of the game. Cousins heard about it and did not appreciate it, so he went out on to the court and confronted the guy about it once he wrapped up his post game show

unless Cousins put his hands on Elliot (which i highly doubt or we would have heard about it) then this suspension is completely BULL**** and makes the NBA look like garbage in my opinion

I have to admit, I'm surpirsed. I've never heard of a player getting suspended for having a verbal confrontation with an announcer. I guess if its with your own announcer its OK, since Bobby Jackson and others on the Kings have had verbal confrontations with Napier. I guess the other teams announcer has the right to say anything he wants about you, but you can't respond. What ever happened to the first amendment. Unless there was an actual threat of bodily harm, which there may have been, I don't understand the suspension.

While I think this suspension, given what we know, is an overreaction, Cousins has no reason to do what he did.
What an announcer says has no bearing at all on his game.

The fact that someone close to Cousins thought it was best to give him that information right after the game makes me question those people's intelligence too.

^ya this is seriously the biggest crock of crap ive ever seen in the NBA. if this is a 2 game suspension, then Metta World Peace should have gotten a 95 Year suspension for the Elbow last year
