Corliss Needs to be in the Rotation

I think adelman is trying too hard to incorperate the new kids (garcia and martin) into the rotation... he should try and pick one of the kids to play the bulk of the minutes behind bonzi and put corliss back in the rotation...

corliss is still a very effective inside player... he gives the kings some attitude and muscle inside.... he would give the kings a scoring and veteran presence when the starting five is resting...

the bench looks out of sync and can't score... one thing that corliss, the former 6th man of the year would give the kings is instant offense, rebounding and attitude off the bench... i think he would help stabilize the 2nd unit...

I just posted the same thing at the exact same time. Brilliant minds think alike.

I feel he bring steadiness and leadership. He is a scoring threat also.

agreed. we need at least two vets out their with that young second unit. they look so lost out there.

Plus he is a low post threat. For that reason, I like Corliss more than Thomas.

1) Corliss's minutes are largely taken by KT, not one of the kids. Kevin is a guard, and Cisco barely played last game. KT is the truer duplicative player. It wasn't hard to predict Corliss's exile from the rotation in the preseason.

2) Problem is that he IS a low post player. Right now Peja and Mike are so badly out of synch that they are giving us no ouside presence. And a srtange weakness, for the Kings at least, has been revealed -- Cisco is the only shooter we can bring off the bench. And Cisco is also the considerably better fit to smoothly run the offense with. Corliss can give you some offense if he's given shots, but its largely outside the scope of the offense. In other words you can put him in to get some points, but you are no closer to having solved the offensive puzzle right now.

3) Tweener forwards are a hard category to fit into a team. Let alone when you have three of them. Frankly we have no shots to give Corliss at the moment, and if Corliss is not shooting he is not gong to help you much. With all of the offensive players we have, what we desperately need are some top roleplayers that excel at everything ELSE but shooting.

Brick danced arround the point but I'll jsut flat out say it: The problem is not lack of vets or even lack of low post players (Reef, Skinner, Wellas and to some degree KT) The problem belive it or not is NO out side shooting to spread the floor. The Bad new is that if Pedaj and Mike can't draw a double and the team can't rebound then the pai't gets clogged with guys wo take the ball away and gop back down court to score (this also explains playing Garcia over Corless in the few min he has gotten). The good news is that neither Pedja or Mike are likely to struggle out side for long whic in turn will draw more double, spread the floor and increse the opertunities for indie guys to score and or rebound.

of course the BIG problem is Bibby and Peja both struggling, but what this thread is about is how out of sync the reserves have been... as much as bibby and peja has struggled, the 2nd unit has looked worse (well, maybe not worse than bibby)... the only one off the bench that has been a proven, consistent bench scorer is corliss, but he never plays... if you can cure the scoring gaps when the starters sit, then maybe the kings will be in the games longer, and win a few games...

If things keep going this way with for our back-up swingmen... I think we seriously need to go get a more experienced guy (not in reference to Sprewell). There ARE guys out there, and, Matt Barnes (who has improved nicely on his offensive game) would likely be waived if George Lynch goes to the Knicks. Also, Wesley Person/Felipe Lopez/Adrian Griffin/Lynch (hasn't mentioned us, but still)/Lucious Harris/Norm Richardson/...Spree ;).

In the case of an injury to Bonzi/Peja, I'd be pretty weary.

I agree about Corliss.

Or do a trade for Matt Harpring :).

Thanks Celt. You spared my keyboard some heavy wear with this post.

Yes, the problem is that we don't have outside shooting right now.

Corliss can play the 3. Which means cisco is taking up his time. I like cisco but right now he is just playing to wild.

Yes, the minute and a half Cisco played in the last game (or less) cut WAY into Corliss' minutes

I'd probably play Corliss even if he would be somewhat out of his position at the three. H would not be able to defend those flashy-slashy small forwards, but he always stirs things up and disrupts the other team. He can hit some people and score. Peja and the young guys are not making it happen. Not much to lose as it stands.

corliss needs to be traded with price to the bobcats for gerald wallace and jake voshkul.....

What about signing Rodney White? Would we be able to do that? I think he is gonna be a solid role player and I don't know why he's still a FA. Also there is Adrian Griffin?

Yeah I mentioned Griffin - as well as all summer :). Surprised the Bulls haven't gotten him back lately. Griffin isn't a pure scorer, but he can score some. I'd still definitely take him.

White was involved with the Clippers in their camp, trying to make the team (as they literally have no back-up swingmen), he got signed in mid-Oct. then was waived later that month.

I thought Rodney White was packed with talent but just failed to do well. Why the hell don't we take a chance on him! There is alot of decent FA's that could contribute if we signed them. Like Back-up big men.

I agree.

Been saying that since the summer (not on White, but FAs), just specific players though. Has lessened of course because we got our roster together, but still are 1 or 2 holes that should/could be filled.

why is corliss not playing more??? the only proven bench scorer on the kings... you can see the muscle and energy he can give you off the bench... he needs to be one of the first options off the bench every night!!!

Is this really the biggest problem that you think needs to be addressed at this time?IMO we got bigger things to worry about than Corliss' PT.
