Not giving up Stephon Castle in a De'Aaron Fox trade when you don't have to do so made all the sense in the world. Fox forced his way to San Antonio and the Spurs managed to hold onto their backcourt depth. But with Dylan Harper on the board at No. 2 in this draft, the calculus has changed, and Castle becomes easy trade fodder in a potential Kevin Durant trade. If I could keep one or the other, I'd draft Harper and ship out Castle in a Durant trade without blinking.

That said, I honestly have no idea what a Wemby/Durant/Fox trio could accomplish together. Wemby and Durant are both pretty malleable superstars, but I still find that to be a rather oddly-shaped Big Three. Fox is a solid distributor, but he's not a natural "glue" between those two guys, nor is he wired for the pick and roll like many other PGs in the NBA. More to the point, the Spurs aren't usually the kind of impatient franchise that shortcuts their developmental process, so I'm curious how invested they even are in the idea of bringing Durant to San Antonio. Pop won't be there on the sideline to massage the angles and manage the egos, either. I'll be curious to see how this all unfolds.

Guessing Rockets would maybe offer Jabari and Reed.
Spurs should offer Fox, Sochan, and the Kings swap in 2031.

Probably a few pieces of draft capital since the Suns are picked pretty bare.

Don't really know what the Suns should expect to get back. Dude is up there, on a short term contract, a constant malcontent in his latter career.

both of those are good deals if he agrees to extend. I’m curious how Toronto would build around their big 3 if they traded all that. No starting center or PG and not much depth.

Teams trying to nickel and dime the Suns for KD only works until one team actually gives the Suns enough of what they want in a trade. Last I checked KD was still an All-NBA level future hall of Famer top 20 of all time guy who is probably still worth the cost of getting him but whatever floats all these team’s boats.

The problem is there are issues with each suitor.

Raptors- doesn’t make them a contender and he might not re-sign. It’s cold and my lips might get chapped!

Wolves- best public offer but it’s cold and my lips might get chapped!

Heat- doesn’t make them a contender if they gut depth and assets

Spurs- he’ll sign with us next year anyway kbyyyeeeee

Rockets- traded for Suns swaps to eventually trade for Durant and now doesn’t want to give them up. Only wants what they can’t have (and also waiting for Giannis or younger star like Brown)

KD may be better off playing for a team on the East considering the Celtics will be having a down year and that conference is wide open for a team to make a run

We have created a separate thread for discussion of the Durant trade. Please direct all Durant trade commentary there!
