I think Ettote Messina has a great chance of being our next coach. He has everything Vlade is rumored to want: Exerince, Leadership, defense approach, team ball, and no nonsense.
Crazy that Pop said Ettore got his teams to move the ball better than the spurs. Also Ettore preaches playing inside out. Hopefully Vlade can woe him in I know Pop loves vlade so he would push Ettore to take the job.

Messina would make a lot of sense. And I'm guessing Vlade is familiar with him. Would Messina want the Kings job? Or could Vlade convince him to take it?
Well, if Vlade wants to interview Messina or Udoka and either (or both) of these guys are interested now may be the time with the Spurs having swept the Grizzlies.
Byron Scott out in LA. Probably hurts our chances for Luke Walton. I hope it doesn't increase our chances for Byron Scott.
It's a much better job than here. They have Russell+Clarkson+Randle AND the #2/3 pick(Simmons/Ingram). PLUS a load of cap space.Vlade played with Luke and we're way closer to being competitive. LA is not a better job.

...on the Lakers, where Walton was drafted, played the vast majority of his career and won two titles. Don't know if Luke grew up as a Lakers fan, but he was in San Diego, so it's a reasonable guess.
Being competitive this year isn't necessarily going to be a draw for Walton. He doesn't have a lot of experience under his belt, and the Lakers aren't planning to win for a few years. It would be a lower-pressure job where he could get some on-the-job experience and he would know that the Lakers will have the means to exceed the luxury tax to build a roster once their young core is ready. Meanwhile, we've been firing coaches left and right.
I'm not saying that Walton is going to be a great coach - I have no idea - but if we're hoping that he'll pick us over the Lakers (assuming both teams offer), I think we're hoping against hope.

Young talented roster in LA...or DeMarcus in Sacramento? That's not hard to pick lol
Plus, Walton won't be in any pressure to put out a winning product for the new arena. The Lakers will give him lots of time to build a potential dynasty.
Los Angeles would be lower pressure than Sacramento? I don't know about that one.
For the first few years while he's getting experience, yes. We've got a brand new arena starting next year, and we want to be in the playoffs starting next year. The Lakers are in a very different point in their rebuild cycle.

The Charge of the Light Brigade
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,![]()
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.![]()
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.![]()
2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:![]()
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.![]()
3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;![]()
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.![]()
4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:![]()
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.![]()
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.![]()
5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;![]()
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.![]()
6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.![]()
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred.![]()

This is the one I thought of when you'll went on the tangent. But not all died in this one.
Sure the Lakers have completely sucked the last couple seasons.. I think what has made it more tolerable for their fans is the fact that it was Kobe's ride out to the sunset.
Kobe is now retired and as much as we hated Karl, Laker fans felt pretty damn similar to Scott the last two years. More importantly, these are Laker fans we are talking about. These are same clowns that take 2 hours to get ready before every ball game. NBA basketball existed purely for them in there eyes.
Just look at this ***hole...

LA fans have been spoon fed some of the greatest NBA players to play the game consecutively since day one. They are not going to be patiently waiting for an immature Russell to get his head out of his ass. The guy is a toddler who is cares more about his IG followers than his teammates. Russell will flop, and I will smile.
That is the same thinking that got us George KarlWith the Lakers entering the fray and the two big names gone (Brooks and Thibs) the Kings really need to get it in gear here.
[Jason Jones] One sidenote re: Kevin McHale. More than one person has told me he doesn't like California so him taking the Kings job would be a surprise
So how is he the frontrunner, yet doesn't like Cal and wouldn't take it most likely? I'm just going to wait until there is an official hire for whoever it is.

I don't mind if he is "Feeling Minnesota" as long as he is "Looking California"makes sense. mchale is a minnesota guy through and through, he played his entire career in boston, and his gm/coaching stints have never taken him further west than texas. california may not hold much appeal to someone like that, though he definitely remains one of the candidates for the kings' head coaching vacancy that i'm intrigued by...

Randle is overrated and Russell is a rat in the eyes of everyone on the league. Good luck building a franchise around that dude.
You're right, we've got DeMarcus... and if it all goes to **** we ship him out and bring in a Kings ransom
