Coach Westphal

I don't know if we ever officially welcomed Paul Westphal as our coach, but I think they made the perfect decision and getting this guy as our coach and he is clearly getting the most out of everyone on our team. He's getting them to play at their highest level! Thank You Coach Westphal!

Yes, I believe we did an official welcome thread.

This is a great place to say, Thanks, Coach. We love what you are doing with our young guys and we look forward to our future with you and them.

I don't think we could have picked a better coach for the youngsters but I wonder how his style would translate on a contender? Hopefully we will find out down the road.

One good thing I think about that situation is that he has the experience of being a contender, and the experience of bringing a young team to contender status.

Coach Westphal is one of the reasons the Kings are exciting and fun again. It's clear that his players respect him and what he's trying to do. I think he's gonna be around for a long time.

:D

Makes you wonder where we would be if rick was still our coach. Huge mistake on letting him go. Paul is the closest we will get to rick. He's doing a great job with developing our young team. On another note, dr. Paul is in a great position to re-ignite his career legacy as a coach, I see championship as soon as kobe turns 40, and lebron is a king, hahahahaah

This isn't really related, but it looks like Rick learned his lesson with Webber coming back. He won't let McGrady back into the rotation. At least on McGradys terms. Good job there Rick!

As much as I loved and respected Adelman and THE TEAM, they're gone. This is a new group of players, a new coach and a new experience. And I don't think we would be doing any better this year with Rick Adelman at the helm. Westphal is doing an incredible job.

to take the wickest team in the NBA and turn it into a team that can win any team in this league, Westphal is the right fit for this team so far, he's doing a great job, of course let's not forget the coaching staff (Abdur Rahim, Mario elie and the others lol)

I'm happy with Westphal..
Remember Donte Green last year? Yesterday he blocked Kobe!
He is getting the most out of every player

the best thing about it is he is with the team as they grow instead of a coach being thrown in with a contender he gets to go through the growing pains and that will make for better chemistry with him and his team as they get experience. yeah we need to lock him up for a while.

I truly do love coach Westphal! I feel like I can rest just knowing that we finally have a real coach again. I hope he stays around for a long time!!

I like coach W too but his decisions cost us the last 2 games

Your opinion is one that I've struggled to agree or disagree with. There are a lot of what-could-haves but we can't really say he cost us the game. What interests me is that his decision is ultimately this: He's forcing Tyreke to be the man. I think in the long run, its great; although it is true that it may have cost us the last two games (unless you are talking about the lack of time-outs, but I would say the loss is more to do with Reke just playing 1 on 1).
Now that Tyreke is injured tonight, who is going to be the man? Will his decision backfire for one game? Remember in the old days we had 3 go to guys, not just one. Maybe PW is making them one at a time.

i was one of the people who was hoping westphal would be picked as our next coach before the season started, as opposed to rambis or eddie jordan. westphal was willing to be one of the lowest paid head coaches in the nba on the worst team and turned this team around. he's almost won as many games as the other 2 coaches combined. i think petrie and the maloofs made the right decision and i hope westphal continues to turn this team into the great team we all hope and know it can become

Cosigned, I really didn't want Jordan or Rambis. Westphal was my guy from day 1. Judging how EJ and KR are doing in their respective situations, I'd say we made the right choice.
