I would be fine with cisco starting. I would hope the coaching staff would go over all of his stupid penetration moves with him, teach him how to pull up for a 15-18 foot jumper. Make him realize that getting to an open spot on the floor is immensely better than driving into traffic and getting an offensive foul. If Cisco can learn these things he would be a very effective player, able to do pretty much anything on the court. But he can be so dumb sometimes it makes you wonder if he will ever get it.

I think at this point we are a very solid team with the addition of Reke and Hawes developing even more this offseason, Iv'e heard that hes been working very hard on gaining weight and upper body streangth this year more than even.

Cicso is a keeper as well as Nocioni, those two have the SF position on lock. Cisco is more of the two dribble and shoot players, spot up. Penetrating to the basket should be left up to Reke and Martin, thats it.

Martin has SG on lock I just hate his ugly shot, but hey it goes in rite?

PF is a tossup, I would say Thompson is my favorite player on the team, I just don't think hes dedicated to developing. Didn't he play in every game last season?

I hope Casspi blows up, he can. Im hoping for the new Ginobili

i know this is kinda off topic but, are you serious? define very solid team? we are weak at pg, we are weak at sf, we are weak at pf and we are weak at center... on top of that we have no depth at pf or c... we have too much depth at sf and did i mention that this team isnt very good?

thompson looks promising but he isnt anywhere near ready to the man at pf. pg is a hot mess and sf is full of mediocre players with long term contracts. hawes is okay i guess but he isnt strong enough to bang with other top centers in the nba yet. or maybe he will be this year we'll have to wait and see....

How did you arrive at that conclusion? Every indication is that he worked and is working very hard. I'm hoping it will pay off better with a coach who has some clue about what he's doing with the team.

Thats why its called a rebuild mi amigo.. I'm not sure why Apollo thinks that Thompson isn't dedicated. Everything I've read about him says that he's a hard worker. Rome wasn't built in a day. Its going to take time for the young players to develop and find their niche. Al Jeffersons first two years in the league wern't anything to write home about. This will be Thompsons second year. Typically it takes three years.

Think of the Kings team as a brand new ship and the coming season as a shakedown cruise. It will take a while to work out the bugs.

i get that... i just wanted to know what he meant by solid team. a solid team can win at least half of their games. if we end the season at 41-41 would a be solid team, we are nowhere near that level....

On that point we can agree.. Funny, but 41/41 probably still wouldn't get us into the playoffs..

I understand we won 17 games. As in solid I meant we have a solid core to rebuild on NOT a .500 team. I think we will be around the 30 win mark, def not 40.
As far as Thompson he played in every game. Yes dedicated when looked at on the court. Aside from Beno and Thomas, Thompsons been active but not as active as Hawes or Martin as far as being dedicated to development. Hopefully we can pull a Miami Heat turnaround this year.

Thompson has been in sacramento most of the summer working out with the Kings strength and conditioning coach. He's also been working on his game. Especially using his left hand, and trying to become more consistant with his jumpshot. He said he was going to take a two week vacation and just rest his legs by sitting on a beach somewhere. Then he was going to head back to sacramento for the final few weeks before camp opened.

Last year coachie said that Thompson was one of the hardest working players on the team. Remember that he grew almost 8 inches in the last three years of college. Sometimes it takes the brain a while to catch up with the body.

hope we haven't scared the OP away. was hoping for some updates. are these games aired in the US?

Now whatever gave you that idea? Everyone has been so polite and everything, welcoming him to the board and thanking him for sharing the stats and all.

Oh wait...

Oops. I didn't even notice it was the OP's first post. I'm usually so sharp on these things, too. ;)

yeah, .500 wouldnt get us into the playoffs in the west but would be like 6th seed in the east. this team is such an enigma... what do you do with all of those pieces to make them a competitive team? garcia is a great bench player for this team but beno and nocioni are a waste of space with long term contracts.

hawes and thompson are underdeveloped, tyreke is a rookie and we have no idea how sergio will play on this team with limited minutes having to compete with beno and evans at pg. the only 2 players on this team that we dont have to worry about or really question their abilities are martin and garcia. but thats basically locking down 1 position, shooting guard. the other 4 are a total toss up and our bench is... well, i just dont know. casspi, may and possibly brockman are a bunch of garbage time all-stars....

oh, we also have a new coach. again..... for the what 3rd, 4th time in 3 seasons.... who on this team will step up to make this season bearable? martin has already proven that he is a real scorer in this league but he isnt the player that will carry this team to the playoffs. we dont have a superstar to fall back on so we will have to pull a 2004 pistons impersonation to pull this off. there are just too many gaping holes in our roster.

Thompson is not dedicated to development though, maybe staying in shape. Who on the Kings workout like Griffin does.

who else in the league works out like that? hell i doubt that griffin even does that... that was probably all for show. where in oklahoma was griffin doing that while he was in college? and how does that help him as a basketball player? if he were joining the marines maybe but the nba? lebron doesnt even workout like that and he is the biggest freak of nature in the nba.

lamar odom eats candy all day... to each his own.

Lebron works harder than any player, look at him his rookie year then his 3rd year or even this year. are you telling me increasing your vertical and body streangth is only good in the military?

I find it funny that the other NBA player training with the Griffin brothers is our very own Kenny Thomas :)...

Were only Kenny given a chance to prove himself....

How about some Cisco stats from last night?

35 minutes
3 pts on 1/9 shooting
2 assists
2 rebounds

Not his best outing. A decent performance would have probably made the game a lot closer (85-76 loss to PR).

Was he hungover?

I'm curious as to how you know this.

Are you involved in his workout/development?

Somehow you have access to the workout facility and watch what he does?

You are a close friend or relative of him and you know what he does day to day, workout and conditioning wise?

You talk to him regularly and know what his future goals are?

see what i mean, thats proof enough that running in the sand doesnt make you a good basketball player. he might be in pretty good shape afterwards but that doesnt improve his skills as a basketball player unless he's playing at the beach.

Im still convinced that if Cisco was on a better team like the Spurs, Celtics or Lakers he'd be a sixth man of the year candidate every year. He is the perfect sixth man. Hes a decent defender with lots of energy and he can hit clutch shots. Not to mention he is very versitile and can give you something off the bench or starting ( something Salmons couldnt do). I deffinelty think he's worth keeping around, and his contract, even though its long, is reasonable.

I'd be thrilled if we started him over Nocioni, just to see what he really can do with consistent starter minutes. I also think he is prob a better fit with our potential starting lineup, but I dont see Nocioni going to the bench just yet.

Side Note: When/If Kmart gets hurt at some point next year, A Evans, Garcia, Nocioni, thompson, Hawes lineup could be decent defensively, which is something we havent seen for years.

Cisco with a fractured right ring finger? That does not bode well... But it frees up playing time for the logjam of players at the 3...

Heal quickly, Cisco.

Not sure this has been mentioned, but the tourney has been live and replayed on ESPN360.com, which is free.

I didn't know that until now so thought I'd share just in case I wasn't the only one.

EDIT -

It seems that they now have only 4 games available for watching. The semis, 3rd place game and title game.
