Bench
The Sixers are trying to buyout Webber's contract. Do you think the Kings should sign him, and do you think Webber would want to come back to the Kings after what happened? He still loves the city of Sacramento, so would that be enough to bring him back?

Yeah we could use him in the veterans role off the bench in place of Corlis. But as a starter I think he is well past his prime. He would be a great mentor to somebody that has talent that he doesn't but doesn't posses the talent that he has such as Justin Williams. It also might intice Bibby to stick around with us instead of opting out.

Unless Webber accepts that he is a broken player and should be an unselfish roleplayer in a Vlade-type role then he is completely worthless to anyone. He still thinks he's a superstar, and until he comes to terms with his current abilities he's going to be more trouble to a team than he's worth.

I think a buyout would probably knock him down to earth.

"Here's all this money for you to just go away because you're only hurting us."

I think he's a smart enough guy to realize it...However, I really don't see a need for him, unless SAR is traded somewhere...If it came down to a battle between SAR and Webber I'd take Webb in a second.

...It's just not going to happen, though.

Because of poor personnel decisions, Webber would be the best big man on our squad. I would welcome Webber back only because it would give the Kings style again. No defense, but teamwork at least on offense rather than relying purely on bibby draining long shots with a hand in his face.

In truth with Artest and Bibby and Miller they'd be an okay team. Not a contender for a title (just as they weren't when Webber left), but a nostalgic and fun team that would not get blown out as much.

Anyhow the Kings don't do what I want them to do personnel wise, so I guess we'll just sit tight in this bizarre commitment to mediocrity.

by the way...

I've never seen Webber play in an "I'm a superstar manner". He's limited defensively, but he was mostly an unselfish player. His ill-advised shot taking was never close to some of the crazy Artest rampages this season.

He may have a high opinion of himself, but IMO Webber doesn't consider himself an A player anymore. Or at least he doesn't seem to demand the ball as if he is one.

Webber for a year would be perfect for this team right now... You have to think, would it hurt us or help us?..

...I think it would definitely help us more then it would hurt us... think about the engery and fire that would be in Arco if Webber came back. Im not saying lets have him be the centerpiece again, all im saying is lets get some of that leadership and entensity that he would bring us. Man that would be _____ awesome!!!!

I KNOW this has been discussed really recently...

Webber is NOT going to return to Sacramento as a player. You can take it to the bank. And don't count on "energy and fire" in Arco if he did, unless you want to count the boos and rage if he didn't live up to the old expectations.

It would be a step backward for the Kings to bring Webber back, except for the ceremony that puts his jersey in the rafters right next to Mitch Richmond's.

It may not be until next season, but I see Webb going home to Detroit and playing a simliar role as they have McDyess playing now.

This thread makes me sick. Are some people really looking to bring tin foil man back? He hasn't played any kind of productive basketball since before he tumbled to the floor in dallas in 2003. (His numbers in Phili ment nothing. They were horrible. I watched him play, and his 10 boards were because he sat under the rim, sam dam and took out the other defenders, and it fell in his lap...). Webber is a peice of trash. He might have been the essencial piece to building a semi dynasty... but he tore it down with his attitude. There isn't really much that could sway me the kings. I bleed purple. But if they had webber again, I might just vomit when I watch them play
