Chris Kaman

And if that is the case, you really wonder whether the Kings are going to be unable to resign Tyreke and Cousins in the future. Are we all just singing ourselves a song as the Titanic slowly but surely goes down?

Those will be the two guys the money will be saved for presumably. There is a minimum salary, and its going up under the new CBA. You have to meet it signing SOMEBODY. I just don't see the Maloofs signing any extravagances. If they dish out big bucks, they are going to want it to be money will spent.

Do this deal. Its not the defensive stalwart next to boogie we wanted but it does make us considerably better. Start Kamen and Demarcus with Hayes playing the role of defensive enforcer off the bench. Cousins has shown a willingness to improve on the defensive end and isnt the rookie liability he was.

I think I originally gave lukewarm support to this idea of acquiring Kaman because having another skilled big is better than having none. After looking at the upcoming draft, I see three guys (well, maybe two) who could fill that position next to Boogie. JT is good also but that extra big is essential given injuries, foul troubles, match ups, and the like. The draft could give us bigs for the next decade as these guys will make it in the NBA. I mean Henson and Davis. One will be available where we draft and if we finish the season in total suckatude, two will be available.

The problem is that we keep getting younger. The good part is that they all mature about the same time. If this year is awful, we could be one of the rare teams to rebuild through the draft only with an occasional tweak via trade. I think there are real stars out there in the draft this year and I mean stars who are more than shooters but are great defenders. It's a unique draft.

Kings should go after Chris Kaman our interior defense is so weak, he has been benched until traded. I would float Salmons and Greene, But it would prob take JJ and Greene. I would do that for the former All Star. him and Cousins would be nice. pick him up when his value is low. resign him and JT next offseason.

Cautiously I would say do it. Don't give up too much for him though. I think ideally, IMO, we give up JJ somehow in the deal. I really don't mind throwing in JJ since we would have DMC, JT, Kaman and Hayes. If you don't throw in a big man or they don't want one in return, well then you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot with a 5 big man rotation. You also better be sure he resigns in the offseason. Lots to think about.

Forget Kaman. I want Okafor!

Hickson and Salmons for Okafor works...One can dream right?

Evans/Thomas/Fredette
Thornton/Garcia/Fredette
Greene/Honeycutt
Okafor/Thompson
Cousins/Hayes

Don't just say "no", say "no, thank you" :)
Kings should wait until 2013 offseason and offer 10+ to Ibaka. Oklahoma will be in really tough spot that off-season since there will be near max money offered to Harden and Maynor will at least get MLE.

Now Ibaka would be a pretty good get for us. Not sure OKC would lose him as I think they would rather give up on quite a number of players before they let Ibaka go but he is the type of player that would work very well with Cousins. Long, athletic, a big time shot blocker, good rebounder and a defender. Sign me up please!

With Cousins - Ibaka - insert half decent SF - Thornton - Evans.....that would be a pretty good core for many years to come. The problem is that it would require us actually spending money which I am not sure Maloofs will do. You never know, by they we might be owned by Burkle! :D

Having JT and Hayes as the bigs off the bench would be nice too.

Sign AK and trade for bench PG that could excel as a starter when needed (my pick is Andre Miller, a 3 way deal with DEN could interesting) and that could be a nice solid team, and a good expiring to allow us to offer bigger deals to 'Reke and Cousins.

Ibaka would be the perfect fit next to Cousins. Someone that doesn't demand the ball, but you still have to guard. Someone that would have Cousins back. Not sure if we could aquire him. I'd rather lose someone else if I'm the Thunder, but losing Harden would be tough as well. In the meantime, I'll keep hoping for luck in the lottery. If I can't have Ibaka, then I'll take Davis.

By the way, I wouldn't be opposed to aquiring Kaman. But as a backup to Cousins, not to play along side Cousins. Except for moments here and there. Kaman is still a good low post threat, and I could see him and Cousins doing a high/low post combo with the right matchups. But other than that, when Cousins leaves the game, we don't have anyone roaming the post that gets the attention of the opposing team. Kaman would do that. Big salary though!

Well if you are the Thunder, there are 4 players that you absolutely must keep and those are KD, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka. Everyone else is expandable! Ibaka is the ultimate role player. He still has a lot to learn defensively but when he gets that down pat, watch out! A lot of that will come with experience and he will have Perkins teaching him little tricks that KG taught him

I'm not sure Perkins has really learned much himself. :) As to Ibaka and Harden, those two are gonna be real expensive in two years. I'm pretty sure it will "either...or..." situation with them otherwise it will be close to 60 million tied to 4 people.
