That's not necessarily true. There are some solid 2nd tier guys like Joe Johnson out there. I think the we have to not forget to look to the future though. Tyreke has 2 years after this season on his rookie contract. If keeps up the way he's playing and progresses with a jumpshot, he's going to be near a max contract guy possibly.
Then there's cousins. 4 years from now if he turns out to be the beat of the future we will need to pay him big money.
I think Landry's contract is up after this season is it? It will remain to be seen if he becomes a piece that stays.
Then there is Donte with 2 more years including this season on his contract? He started to become a defensive presence, very athletic with increased offensive production. If he keeps progressing, we'd have to throw some money at him to keep him.
Same thing with Casspi in 3 more seasons if he were to be a keeper.
So if we were to fill the rest of our roster with undrafted/summer league invitees this season we'd have what 11-12 mill left under the cap? then 12 mill after Dalembert comes off assuming we don't re-sign him. So we have 23 mill at that point. But we have to keep some of that aside to re-sign some of these guys that have the potential to be high salary guys in a few years.
