chad ford 2009 nba mock draft generator is here!!!

Jennings, although if we packaged something else with Houston's pick to get a second, late lotto choice, I wouldn't mind taking a shot on Aminu. But that's mostly because he's a real-life prince, so having him on the Kings would be fitting.

Thru 5 simulations I got Jennings 4 times (twice with the 5th pick, twice with the 6th) and Rubio once with the 2nd pick. I'd be happy with either of those. But we still got a lot of games to play

We have our Brandon Jennings clone already in Bobby Brown.

As for Al-Farouq, intriguing talent, but at this point, we're still talking about potential here, and he may need another year of college. He's an uber-athlete tweener in the forward positions, which means that he has considerably more potential than your overweight type of forward tweener, but like many young players of his type he tends excessively force his athleticism into the game and ignore the skills necessary to fully optimize them. The jury is still out if we're truly looking at a Luol Deng type player here, or a Marvin Williams type, or a Dorell Wright type. But with our SFs again, not him.

Ok, let me take that back.

From what I have seen, I would like Jennings. Plus, I really feel that we are need of a floor general PG.

Jennings would be my first pick but I like Rubio as well. If he can play in the NBA like he played in the Olympics.

The Randomizer seems rather convinced Jennings is our PG of the future. It didn't seem to matter where the Kings drafted for me, he was the choice.

So naturally, that means Petrie's targeting a tweener forward from a Division III college instead. ;)

Has anyone landed the #3 pick yet? Do we pick Jennings over Thabeet in Chad's universe?
It depends on who gets the #2 pick. If the #2 pick is Rubio we take Thabeet #3, if the #2 is Thabeet we take Rubio. We get Jennings in spots 4-6, Al-Farouq Aminou if we fall to #7.

And yes, I feel insane for having clicked enough times to know all that.

I played 4 times and got the Kings winning twice. The other 2 we got the 4th and 5th picks and took Jennings both times. From what I've seen/read so far I guess I'd be alright with Jennings/Rubio/Thabeet/Griffin if we were up there in the top 5, if we are down around 8-10 I kinda like Greg Monroe, but I guess its still a little early.

Haha, thanks. I'm just trying to parse out what Chad thinks our draft board looks like (not like Chad always knows what he's talking about). So, based on what we have here, I'd imagine it's something like this:

1. Griffin
2. Rubio
3. Thabeet
4. Jennings
5. Curry
6. Aminu

Interesting he has us apparently taking Aminu over Holiday. But that generally looks about right to me at this point.

I, too, am intrigued by Monroe. By all indications, however, he's not coming out this year. I think Chad just includes everyone in his draft predictions until they say explicitly they're going to stay.

His scoring is improving, but I thought we wanted a playmaker...
Assist numbers are always skewed down in the Euroleague because they have different scorekeeping methods. Jennings' role with the team hasn't really been defined yet either. He was the best playmaker out of any of the PG prospects in this year's high school class and won the Naismith Player of the Year award. His high school resume already puts him in the lottery discussion as an elite PG prospect, and I think it's still too early to draw any conclusions from his Euroleague play. That's a bigger adjustment than playing college ball.

Regarding the draft generator, I think it's interesting that I've hit the reset button a couple dozen times and have yet to see the Kings get the #1 pick. I had a better success rate when we were 10th last year. This is probably just superstition on my part, but doesn't it seem like there's a spot right around the 3rd to 5th picks that somehow manages to defy the odds by not winning the lottery as often as they should? Just me then?

Is this a fact? Because I've seen my fair share of Euroleague games and don't come away with that impression at all. While you won't get the "NBA assist" in Euroleague, you will get the "HS/college" assist. Regardless of the explanation for the low assists, I don't think anyone can look at 1.3 apg at Lottomatica and stretch that to 6-7 apg in the NBA for the Kings. No way. I'm not buying that.

That's his fault. He knew the risks before heading over to Europe. It's not as easy as it looks. Just because you're an American doesn't mean they have to play you where you'd like to play. Those teams want to win and they're the ones cutting the checks. They'll determine where and how much you play.

What he accomplished in high school is immaterial to me. He's not in HS anymore, and the NBA isn't HS, either. He's having a hard time adjusting to professional basketball in a league that's not on the same level as the NBA, so excuse me for being skeptical of him being a top NBA prospect at this stage in his career.

BTW, when a kid decides to "play for pay", he opens himself up for this kind of criticism. He's just not cutting across the pond so far, and I'm sure he wishes he could be somewhere where he could have the ball in his hands more often.

It is a fact!

In Europe its only and assist if the receiving player scores a lay up, lay in or dunks it without taking a bounce.

If a pass finds an open man who scores a jumper, its not an assist in Europe nor is it an assist as soon as the receiving player puts the ball on the floor, even if its only a single bounce.

That is why a lot of players in Europe don't have high assist numbers compared to what you see in the NBA. Jose Calderon has always been as good a play maker as he is today but his assist number were never remotely close to what they are in the NBA.

When discussing European players, stats are the last thing you are going by. Especially assists.

question 4 u the ppl on the board.. if 1st pick goes to sac. who do you take?? griffin, thabeet or rubio?
Griffin, because I think he'll be the sure first pick.
If Petrie wants to pick Rubio... It's better that will try to sell the first for the second and something else.
