Hall of Famer
I will be out of town this weekend so someone else will have to open the thread for the game against the Wolves
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings are 1-3 to start the season after linning their home opener against the Sonics and we are getting ready for yet another back to back set but this time at home where we will host Cavs and Wolves. It will be interesting to see whether this lin is a start of a linning streak or just a small break between different wosing streaks. It was okay to win the game regardless in what fashion we did it. It would have been much nicer if it was a result of playing well than a result of other team wanting to lose badly but fans need something to cheer about from time to time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Cavs game is the only one that will be on national TV and on BSPN of all people. We don't deserve it but they need to show the world how much we suck. There are good things about being avoided like having Thursday nights free to pursue other interests that are less masochistic. Since it is BSPN I am obligated to issue

WALTON ALERT!

He won't be the analyst during the game but he will be there before the game and in the half time which is more than enough so I recommend a bathroom break or a trip to the fridge or a simple click on a mute button.
Also S.A. Smith will be there just to remind us how much we suck. I hope that we can avoid JVG as an analyst because Hubbie makes me sleepy and that is just what I need.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
First week in the NBA has been pretty interesting. While I didn't watch too much some things have caught my attention

-Lakers suck
-Clippers don't
-Rockets will be good
-Warriors won't
-Southwest division should have their own conference
-Lakers suck
-Boston is better that I expected
-Chicago isn't
-Heat suck
-Magic don't
-Lakers suck

will see how this develops
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic of ARCO is definitely retired. The stories of the selling streaks should only be published in the fairy tales and history books. You just can't fool people for too long. The product isn't any good but still as expensive. There will always be the "die hard" fans that will be there but it will take a while till the magic is restored and it will have to start with a better team. Kings fans don't need much but what is currently being offered is an insult even for the loyalty without limitations. Fans deserve better.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Martin continues to "impress" where this word can be defined in many ways. Right now his biggest problem is that basketball is a team sport and his team sucks. Hopefully that will change soon so that Kevin doesn't end up with a career of SAR or someone similar as a excellent player who was never relevant. He resigned so he is stuck and we will see whether this will build character or whether it will frustrate him beyond threshold. Right now he deserves to be on a better team but so do many other players - I guess. You can score 50 a night but if Your team is losing You don't really matter. None of this is obviously Kevin's fault but he is clearly in a wrong tome wrong place scenario.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
On the other hand - this is a perfect scenario for Kenny, Mikky, SAR and the rest of junk that we carry because You can suck all You want and it won't stand out or upset anyone enough to let's say - bench You. Money is good. Market is small so there is no hustle. Results aren't important for the only show in town. They can plan long term because they won't be traded since no one wants them. So Sacramento Kings are the "Florida" of the NBA.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, Sonics are really good and experience in what they do these days. In every single game this season they were right there to the end and every time they found the way to help their cause by linning it at the end. They held the edge in every category except the one that includes 25 turnovers which is insane amount but it was barely enough to lose to another bad team which is us. Never early enough to start tanking - I guess. As for us - we had a koolaid deja vu in the beginning of the 2nd quarter when Wally "air" Szczerbiak made M.J. look like Kenny Thomas but we were able to recover with some help from the Sonics and unfortunately we caught them in the end. It is okay to win a home opener but this is our direct rival for the lottery and those wosses count twice. Also we were only -1 rebounding and for the 2nd straight game we had more turnover than assists.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM went to Nick Collison mainly because Wally S and Durant don't have a scrub label.

LW-VC award went to D. Willkins who helped a lot in the end

Also I like to introduce a new award which was inspired by SAR's one minute performance and I am calling it SAR - Methuselah award. It will be given to players who spend an extremely short amount of time in the game before making the coach regret it. I felt the need for it because JHA and RA-&1 award are simply not enough to cover the variety of sucktitude that we will witness this season.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cavs are next and they aren't nearly as good as they were in the post season but they will still be good enough for us because they want to win. It will be hard for us to stop Gooden and "Z" who will make our geriatric front line cry. We have a chance but we can't let them go up 20. We have no one who can guard Lebron which will result in a triple double of gigantic proportions. Rebounding will be a problem and so will everything else.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - deserves a better team
Brad - was that him the other night ?
Salmons - been very solid
Moore - there must be reason that he is starting but I can't remember it
Cisco - good game, bad game, good game, bad game and he is not a PG

KT - now I remeber
SAR - has more than bad knees
Douby - keep it up
rest - mateen

Coach T - I hope he didn't find Muss recipe book.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said Cavs are the ECC for the last season but they aren't in sync yet and they aren't really as good but they are better than us. Lebron will get his triple double, Z will dominate and the rest will play well enough not to screw it up for them. With Varejao waiting for a contract, Marshal, Snow and Hughes injured - it makes it much easier to pick the awards winners. D. Brown will win TDM award. Damon Jones will win LW-VC award and for the rest - we will have to wait and see because surprises are possible. I predict a lin.

One minor difference of opinion, piksi...

The REAL Arco mystique/magic started when the Kings sucked. The team was just bad but they tried and the fans responded. THAT was the real magic of Arco, and not the recent years of sellouts where a good number of the fans were there solely because the team was winning and it was all of a sudden THE place to be... I don't miss those fans at all.

:)

i'll be there all year :)

we're gona have to close on lebron if he gets too close to the basket. he cant make a ton of jumpers. too much help and damon jones and gibson will toast us from the outside. too little help and lebron will be throwing it down on brad millers head. winning this game will be good. bring us 1 game to .500

Somehow all this makes me excited for Hawes to start playing. Young legs, he is 7-1 and he plays with back to basket as well as spot up out 15-18 ft. Rookie mistakes are different than the junk we see from KT, SAR, Mikki, etc and easier to swallow when the team is not that good as long as there is some points and a few rebounds.

I agree.

And this could in fact have been our sneaky plot along -- put together such a sucktastic frontcourt that your rookie center, who otherwise has questions hanging about him, gets to standout simply for being able to walk aand chew gum without tripping over his own feet. Brilliant! ;)

Kings Practice Quotes

Reggie...

Was practice rough today?

"I wouldn’t say rough. Ron Artest lost a tooth. But that could happen at any time and I think it was loose. He was supposed to go to the dentist yesterday, but he missed his appointment. So he's on his way now (laughs).”

How did Spencer Hawes do today?
"I thought Spencer did well. His lateral movement isn't all that great yet. You can see he's still dragging a little bit. But as far as contact goes, I thought he got in the paint and mixed it up okay.”

Did you see LeBron James' game against the Jazz last night?
"Yeah, I watched the game.

You mentioned before facing the Sonics the importance of limiting guys - like Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, etc. What's the mentality facing LeBron?
"It goes back to the Jordan Rules. You can't stop a great player from getting certain types of numbers, but what you try to do is make the game tough for them and try to stop them from having a tremendous game. There are certain guys on the floor, if they have a great game they can win it for you. There are other guys that if they have a big scoring night, they can't win the game."

Do you plan to double-team him?
"You have to give him a number of defensive looks -- you can't give him a steady diet of anything. Great players adjust to steady diets. So you have to change things up and throw different scenarios at him and let him figure it out."

How do you think the Cavaliers have been playing?
"I think they, obviously, haven't been playing at the level they did when they beat Detroit, in the playoffs. But they still have that X-factor (James) on the floor at all times. And anytime he's on the floor things can change."

Stay tuned for the Lebron James and the Cavaliers (long pause) playing (long pause) the Sacramento Kings

BSPN - sux

I really hope that we win, but I will also be happy with a good, competitive, fun to watch game.

My, how times have changed - but I still say

GO KINGS!!!

Not too many players can turn it over the first time they touch the ball. Kenny Thomas is that good.

Yup BEST front line in the NBA against... well us. Thank Petrie for our Gaurds!
But AIm glad Kevin is getting respect and I agre this team will look alot better once Ron and Bibby are back and Spencer Hawes gets in the groove... I supect the Kings will be ruining the late seaon for some of the teams trying to squeek into the play offs.
