Carter to opt out in 07 for Magic?

NY Daily News - Vince Carter could opt out in 2007 from his contract and while there are no indicators that he would, it remains a possibility.

"I have no clue," Carter said when asked whether he plans to become a free agent in the summer of '07. "I can't even tell you what would go in (the decision) as far as thinking. I don't want to make that an issue as far as, 'Oh man, he might not be here or who are they going to bring in?' This has been a wonderful place."

Some believe Carter will not opt out because he will make $16.3 million in the final year of his deal, and he's playing alongside Kidd and Richard Jefferson.

However, Orlando reportedly could have about $20 million in cap space available by the summer of '07. Grant Hill's seven-year, $92 million deal will expire after next season.

That would certainly be fun if VC bolted to Magic... and would be a great replacement for Hill, who unfortunately couldn't and hasn't been able to beat the injury, except for most of 04-05.

Nelson
Carter
Hedo/Ariza
Dwight
Battie/Darko

Along with a likely still good bench and Brian Hill = possible deep playoff run, IMO.

Wow, imagine if they draft Brandon Roy this year.

Nelson/Roy/Carter/Dwight/Darko would be one of the best starting 5s in the league. That team could run with anyone and all those guys(except Dwight) are good shooters. Dwight/Darko are good defenders and so is Roy.

Orlando's GM has done an excellent job there IMO.

thats almost counter productive with such a young team.... they arent making the playoffs this year, they should just draft a wing player that they can develop.... but i understand....
