Caron Butler Signs Two year deal with Kings!

Great Pick up , Didn't
im-coming-to-ah8hr3.jpg
see that one coming ...

Butler is a guy that will earn most of his money in the lockerrroom and practice. I can see him being a great mentor to Ben, both have humble backgrounds. With that said here's another guy we can just stick in a corner that has proven he will knock down a open shot(looks at Nik, Marcus Thornton, John Salmons etc.)

Could do worse for a guy who probably isn't going to see much more than 12mpg on our depth chart.

The best thing about this signing I think, besides adding an experienced vet and good lockerrom guy, is that Butler is the type of vet who probably still has a 20 point playoff performance in his back pocket. Looking at his game log for last season, he's not a nightly threat anymore but he had quite a few big games spread out over the season. If we do get to the playoffs, having an x-factor like that on the bench is invaluable.

Two years 3 million? Is that the vet minimum?

It's got to be.

For veteran's who have played for more than 10 years, the veteran minimum in 2015-2016 is $1,499,187 and the veteran minimum in 2016-2017 is $1,551,659. In that case, he would make a total of $3,050,846 over those 2 years.

If this does happen to be a veteran minimum deal, that means we still have our
$4,619,956 in cap space ($4,939,922 if Stockton is waived) to go after more free agents.

Waive Stockton
Sign Andre Miller to veteran minimum
Sign Josh Smith & Cole Aldrich with remaining cap space

PG - Rondo/Collison/Miller
SG - McLemore/Belinelli/Anderson
SF - Gay/Casspi/Butler
PF - Cousins/Smith/Moreland
C - Koufos/Cauley-Stein/Aldrich

(Everyone in bold being a new player this year)

"Coach Rick Carlisle introduced Butler to the sellout crowd by sharing the story that he hates happened, but loves to tell -- about when Butler ruptured the patellar tendon in his right knee and crumpled to the floor in Milwaukee, how he somehow managed to shove his exploded kneecap back in place and walk off the floor under his own power so his mother and other family members attending from nearby Racine wouldn't watch him leave on a stretcher."

5 minutes a night, I don't care... This is the kind of guy I want wearing a Kings uniform. Another great signing, Vlade!

He'll get more minutes than that I bet. I do wonder though why not Cleveland? LeBron needs a backup and they don't have a Small Forward. For this price it's a steal, and Butler won't be getting that much burn here with our lineup. But who knows... I'm glad he's here.

Dang that is just gangsta!

Good, inexpensive pick-up. Another vet that will help out and one that can teach the youngsters. I'm getting a little excited now on our prospects. Can't the season start already? :D
