Carmichael Dave and "the sky is falling" crowd about the TWolves game

Twitter can be a lot of things. If you take it too seriously, however, it can be a worse addiction than drugs or alcohol.
It absolutely is.....I deleted twitter and Facebook from my phone about two months ago (hence the uptick in my KingsFans participation....). The withdrawal is no joke. Right up there with a gambler jonesing for another pull of the slot machine. Really scary once you put some self reflection in to see what you’re doing to yourself.

Those of us who didn't bail during the worst of times stuck around and kept it alive.

If you want to put in the time and effort necessary to produce the quality of grade thread Bricklayer used to do, feel free.
I triedddddddddddddd.

If I had the time, I'd do it but I'm already slacking off at work watching the games while I should be doing stuff.

Dave is having a meltdown. Sorry if that irks you.

He's responding to every fan for no reason and acting like a jagoff. This doesn't really accomplish anything other than spamming the twitter pages of people who follow him. It's not rational behavior by any means and he tends to have these twitter meltdowns here and there. This is just one of the worst because he's responding to everyone.

And the fans have a right to be upset that the team gave up in the 2nd quarter. Let them be angry. They'll get it out of their system. That's largely what something like late night sports radio does. Angry fans call up, rant, the guy listens and then its over.
The same irrational behaviour of people who talk about Doncic on this board. We are 16 and 14. Swissh when was the last time the Kings were this good? I swear people ***** just to *****. If you told every fan before the season started our record now what would they say? Certainly not bitching like people are now. If I was CD I would react the same way.

First of all it was a joke, hence the Shawn Michaels reference. The grade threads were cool but they're a lot of work and took a real commitment from Brick and the others.

Second, how many times do you plan on typing "throw shade" and "clap back" tonight? You auditioning for a job as a writer at Yahoo?
  1. I don't know whether you were aware, but we have a dedicated rasslin' thread on this message board, in which I am a fairly active participant. I assure you that I got the reference; doesn't change my response. If anything, considering that I'm a Bret mark, and my general antipathy for mister Hickenbottom, I applaud myself for my restraint in my response.
  2. Apparently, no more last night, but I've got time right now... Also, I'm positive that I only typed "shade" once last night, so you're overreacting just a tad.

Don't mix me up with someone throwing shade. I contributed much time to write ups.
Who's confusing you to anybody? That response wasn't even directed at you.

Perhaps that attitude is why those who took the time to participate are rarely active nowadays.
I'll stipulate that as possible; it doesn't strike me as probable. Maybe it's why you post less.

There is one poster on STR, who is a frequent better. He or she has never disclosed it, but I can tell from his/her posts.

If you're ever at a casino, in a sports betting area, you can always tell who has huge money on a game. He/she is usually wandering aimlessly.

I used to play, but stopped because I was no longer able to enjoy following my teams. My teams would win, but if they failed to cover, it was a loss. Got tired of complaining about my team slowing down the pace, because I had the over or the coach putting in the scrubs and then scrubs failing to score or play defense and losing a lock spread...

Watch for those types of complaints and you know who's betting. It'll become more prevalent when sports betting is legalized (when not if) and if you want to see it's impact, look at the soccer fandom in Europe. For better or worse.

The Kings are now 2-5 in back to backs. The have 8 more to go. The Kings won’t make the playoffs going 2-13 on back to backs.

This game was the game before the back to back game we won. Look at the minutes distribution.

http://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401070732

DJ has to find 5-10 more minutes a game for his back-ups and keep starter minutes below 25 or play at a slower pace. Any coach can win a game keeping their best players out their 35 minutes. But the good coaches get their starters rest minutes by finding match-ups their back-ups can survive.

Heck Brad Stevens hid IT’s defense for a whole season. If DJ can’t do it for 5-10 minutes a game, he isn’t the coach you think he is and this team isn’t making the playoffs.

A small, nasty, but not insignificant part of a any coach's job description, no matter how successful they are, or how much hope the future they are providing, will always be to take a certain amount of crap from even a small slice of the "fanbase"... and here's the key point FOR YOUR PLAYERS. Carmichael Dave gets it.

You get up there and you take the bullets and you show your players how it's done. Joeger was actually demonstrating leadership tonight and if you can't see that you are simply not on my level.

Betting against the Kings in the 1Q (on the over or the spread) was a lock during the Boogie Cousins years, when they were playing against Washington on the road (and especially on a b2b). John Wall would take Boogie out the night before and Boogie, with his usage, was guaranteed to suck during the 1Q. My bskool boys and I made enough on those plays to pay for a few years worth of alcohol.

I wonder what the top teams winning pct is on 2nd game of back-to-backs? Or what the overall average winning pct is on second game of back-to-backs. Kings are 2-5? If they win at that rate their remaining 8 they go 2-6 or 3-5 overall 4-11 or 5-10. How would that compare to the rest of the league? I wonder how may teams actually have winning records in the second of back to back games?

I don’t know man....there really isn’t much factual basis in the position that coach is beating the starters down with excessive minutes.

Agreed. Coach Popovich has done it many times when he has so many games all in a few days. The only difference is that Pop would bench his starters before the game even started.

Coach Joeger let the guys get on the court and once he saw enough, he knew the starters legs were burnt and he didn’t want to kill their legs. So, he went to the bench and stayed with them. I’m pretty sure he had decided before the game that he would let the starters play the first quarter and if they looked done, he was going to pull them.

He basically sacrificed one game for the good of the starters and to save them for the rest of the season.
I thought this was fairly obvious? We just wrapped up a game in Dallas that came down to the wire. We get into Minnesota and it’s clear our starters are gassed. Most teams wouldn’t have even played their starters. But I guess this is a good way to avoid the drama that comes with the stigma of resting players.

I think another thing is that the Kings will have their 4th game in 6 nights and the next game being a nationally televised game on NBATV.

Joeger probably counted the healthy heads and seeing that Shump and Bagley are both out and they were on the road against a motivated Wolves team, the probability of a Win yesterday were pretty slim.

Player and team image management would be better served to save the starters legs for a Nationally Televised game at home. I think the Kings want to put on a good show on Wednesday against OKC for the National TV audience, where the odds of the Kings playing better and chances of Winning are better with the starters rested.

Sometimes people overreact to negativity as well. Sometimes all is well. Sometimes the sky is falling.Positives shine in wins. Negatives glare in losses. Kings are hopeful that fans are along for that ride and that includes the ups and downs. Kings played terribly and the fans react terribly. So it goes. That’s not going to change. I was very vocally displeased with the game. Not curse Joerger displeased but displeased enough to find some things questionable.

Last night was one of those games. It’s a game you can question sustainability of the team concept(the system where every stretch of games end with the Kings having outpaced themselves) and obviously the in game management of particular moments. Sitting your starters 6 minutes in is not a good look, it just isn’t. I’m a Joerger guy as well. But i didn’t agree with it nor with the idea that he was considering resting them anyway. That plants the seed of low expectations. That there was an out. Sure enough, the starters played accordingly. Kings should be taking their back to back or “this many games in this many nights” woes personally, but last night everybody seemed fine to lean on it as “the reality” (i.e Excuse) and punt the game.

Some fans(like me for example) are also over the whole “if I told you in September..” stuff as well. They do have expectations with a lot of fans now. Kings actually have played consistently enough(even in losses) to where fans can notice a lack of effort. A lack of effort doesn’t nor shouldn’t fly. You can’t tell me you watched those first 6 minutes and watched a team that simply didn’t have it. Other than Buddy, we saw a team that wasn’t even looking for it. A team well aware that a quick hook awaited them. Kings should be figuring out how to be better on back to backs, not coming to terms with “the reality” that maybe they need to rest on gameday instead of bearing down.. Maybe odds were the Kings weren’t going to win that game even with all the effort and the starters but I don’t think declaring it rest night six minutes in the game is the best precedent to set for the team that struggles on back to backs. It’s bad enough they typically didn’t play well on b2b but now you have coaches and local media basically excusing(the reality) not showing up(I don’t mean struggling, I mean effort) on back to backs. That’s not cool...and that won’t go into the file of good culture growing moments

Luckily they play again tommorow and I trust that it won’t be a defining moment. It was a terrible show last night though.

What a load of crap! You know if he had did this at a home game where actual Kings fans had paid money to see the game, then I could see the outrage. But it was an away game. You don't like it, turn off your TV, or switch channels. It was 3 games in 4 nights, with an overnight flight to Minny where they were waiting well rested, and wanting revenge. If Joerger had left Fox in the game, or played him his normal minutes, and he went down with a leg injury, these same fans would be criticizing Joerger for not taking him out of a lost cause.

Joerger is coaching for the long run, and giving up one game to that cause is no big deal, particularly when it was apparent we wern't going to win that game. Lest some forget, we were already short handed. Maybe, if the sub's had gotten it down to single digits, he would have brought back the starters, but they got it down to 12, and in the blink of an eye, it was back up to 17, and that was that. Here's an idea, why don't we fire the most successful coach we've had since Adelman. What do you think? As I said, what a load of crap. Just my very humble opinion.

I missed the game last night and all of the drama that seemed to have taken place afterwards. Personally, i don't like the idea of resting our starters. These are young men who need to work. They need to be tested. They need to find a way to win as a team, even when they're completely gassed.

edit:
I will add that I'm blessed to be able to see these guys up close every home game. I've noticed Fox on several occasions over the past couple weeks has grimaced and grabbed his thigh and hip. I can't remember which leg but to me it looked like a nagging injury that hes playing through. With that said, I'm totally ok with our franchise player taking a day off to recover.

Wow total Crap. They were low minutes because the nuggets were blowing them out. It wasnt a close game. If the games were reversed it would have been the same outcome.

The fact that Buddy played 39 minutes the night before and was on fire the first half blows your theory.

First, I just think it's ridiculous to attack Joerger for resting his starters. If the bench would have been good enough to get the game within 10 points with, say, seven or eight minutes remaining in the game, sure, I think Joerger would have put in the starters. But the bench wasn't good enough. The bench is pretty mediocre right now, imo. Joerger knows the pulse of this team. He knows whether guys are extremely tired or not. Deference has to be given to Joerger.

As far a minutes and how tired this team should or should not be, you must start with Fox in analyzing the situation. Let's face it, he's the motor that runs this train. He plays an average of 31.6 minutes a game, tied for 52nd place in the league. He's within earshot of guys like Curry, Mitchell and Irving. He's 20 years old, with a thin frame, and unlike those other guys I mentioned, he's running his a$$ off pushing the pace, playing MVP defense, playing quarterback, and carrying this team offensively. Would it be surprising if he were very tired? Of course not. He's a sprinter, not a quarter-miler. The weak bench, which appears to be weaker in away-games, has got to get stronger for there to be more success in these back to backs. If Joerger would have been playing Fox in this game, down by 30+ points with a quarter and a half to go, yelling at him to push the pace, then I'd really be wondering what kind of judgment Joerger had. You just can't run your thoroughbred into the ground.

Most who report successfully quitting social media find that they are happier for it. These websites will continue to have their moment in the sun, but I advise everyone I care about in my life to take their foot off the gas pedal when it comes to engaging with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. They're doing more damage to our psyches and our sense of self-worth than people know.

This is spot on. And yet I think smart money would have backed off last night's game because the impossible travel schedule and the existing history we've seen this season on B2Bs.

Incidentally, this is why I can't get into fantasy sports. I root for who I like an that's it.
